  1. I don't have it yet, but I'm planning on playing it on this laptop: Dell Inspiron N5010 Intel i3-380M (2.53GHz) Mobile CPU 4GB 1333MHz DDR3 Dual Channel memory 1GB ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650 Graphics Resolution: 1366 x 768 So knowing the Hog is heavy like a blue whale on FPS compared to FC2 I thought I should prepare in advance for tweaking it the best way possible :D
  2. thanks, that's another useful setting, anything else? .ini editing?
  3. Could you guys please point me at some DCS A-10C fps boost guides, tweaks, etc. I couldn't find a dedicated thread while there is one for FC2. There are some tweaks here and there like disabling trees' shadows, turning off HDR, etc. but it's all spread out randomly and I may have missed a lot of useful settings.
  4. 36 pages?! 2 simple questions: DCS A-10C was announced way before its actual release, is it going to be the same with DCS Fighter? Approximately when will the particular fighter be announced? I can hardly imagine mentioning something like say "1st quarter of 2012" is so hard and such info has to be that secret. At the very least you guys must have several possible announcement dates, I don't see any harm in sharing them with the community.
  5. Hey diveplane, you sound modding is very much needed and highly anticipated :) I thought I should give you a link to a video with nice sound quality of taking off, diving, fast passes, high thrust, low thrust, taxi sounds, etc. Might find it useful: Some notes, really loud and distinctive jet sound (and also a bit of the usual A-10 buzzing sound) of the aircraft approaching and then going away, a good example is 0:36 and 4:00. Also interesting sound when increasing thrust at 7:02.
  6. Alright once I get it I'll try it out and post the settings in here for correction :)
  7. I'm not that lucky yet :)
  8. Well that looks compact but it doesn't have a lot of buttons on it while the pad has quite a few.
  9. I know it's  but anyways I'd really hate to carry a huge dildo along with the laptop, while a gamepad and a mouse fit in the laptop bag perfectly. I couldn't find that thread, there is one on BS but no one has answered this exotic question :D Actually the most difficult part is how to configure the analog sticks, the buttons are easy and a matter of preference. I'm thinking one of the sticks could be used for targeting pod designation. The other should be used for flying the plane, any tricks here to make flying more precise?
  10. Don't laugh :D I'm thinking of the most useful way to play this sim on a laptop and the joysticks are not very mobile and take a lot of space so please give me some advice on how to configure a standard PC gamepad to be able to fly this sim decently. Gamepad for flying and mouse for cockpit buttons clicking.
  11. I found that screen on the russian part of the forums :D Imagine the Su-25 with USAF insignia  For those unfamiliar with cyrillic it says "Russian AF" on the engines.
  12. You're right, probably that's the case. Any available info info on Litening versions? Litening, II, III? And the TADS and Arrowhead?
  13. The difference is while just small amount of A-10C's systems were left out if there is DCS Super Hornet one big part of its systems (particularly radar modes and functionality and EW systems) would be left out which would mean you can forget about "high fidelity". Mind that I'm not saying there won't be DCS Super Hornet ever, I'm just 99% certain it won't be the next DCS module, which is what this thread is all about.
  14. Thanks, too bad they use the old models, it's nice to watch them drop tons of ordinance or just fly around, very nice birds they are. On the skins conversion, I really don't have time to do that and I suspect that it won't be so easy to convert them and remaking them would be required. I'd rather wait for the next DCS iteration and if it happens to be F-15 C or even E I think I'll find some time to make at least several of them for that future model. Glad you like them though :)
  15. Quite a distance, that pretty much is answering my question on in-game detection distance. What about those numbers Lefty posted and the difference between those 30 and these 77 km?
  16. Oh I do know that, 3 of them are quite new with a lot of their systems still secret, the last one is no longer in service. Now if we are talking F/A-18C that's different but don't expect to see E/F much less F-22 and F-35 in the next and after the next DCS module.
  17. Just stumbled on this in the Screenshots thread: 64.8 miles?!! I'm either missing out something here or we are talking about some new telescope tested on A-10C if it gets such an image at this distance :D
  18. Looking at the beautiful models of E-3 and the ground vehicles in DCS A-10C posted on the last pages I wanted to ask you guys what's the situation with B-1B, B-2 (not sure if it is in the sim), B-52, Tu-95, T-22M3 and Tu-160? Do these look the same as in FC2 or have their models updated as well?
  19. 404 pages in a thread with a poll containing 4 aircraft non of which will be the next DCS module?!!
  20. Thanks for testing and providing the results. The question is is this a bug or the Tor-M1 has been handicapped in the final version of the game on purpose?
  21. lol awesome :D
  22. Still that file 59th_LeFty posted is talking about 30 km (Litening) while Groove mentioned 86 miles (Sniper XR), seems quite a huge difference.
  23. I'm not talking about DCS standard, I'm talking about FC3. The cockpit has been so unmoddable, hard-coded or whatever that's it's just heartbreaking. So many years and not a single realistic cockpit mod, people flying aircrat with the cockpit of other aircraft, no modding tools to change that no nothing :(
