12 Tu-95's + 6 Tu-160's vs 14 F-15's + 4 F-22's!?!
eV1Te replied to Case's topic in Military and Aviation
I read the news on Wiki before I found this thread.... According to the log on Wiki, the changes on the site occurred from 118.101.180.251 (RIPE doesn't have any information about this address) and in 4 steps, where each step changed something in the layout. The person was not an registered user on wiki and also it indicates that he didn't have any good knowledge of how the wiki works. -
You can analyze the flight afterwards with Tacview! But you can't se exactly what systems have failed so it would be nice to have a log of every failure during the flight. For example if the enemy hits me and the helicopter starts shaking until i crash.. I would like to look up afterwords exactly what he hit and what happened to my heli etc.

Same here....

From what I've read on the internet covering autorotations of helicopters is; failing to reduce collective within the first seconds would slow down the rotors until they become stalled and then it would be impossible to regain control! (Is this correct?) But in Ka-50 there isn't such a problem, one can have the rotors in 7 degree angle without stalling the rotors and whenever one wants one can reduce collective and slow down the fall. Is this a realistic behaviour of coaxial rotor helicopters?

There is a button you can press to see the Score while you play. But there is not any debriefing in MP which must be some kind of bug or they just forgot to add that to the game?! Although you can download Tacview (http://lomac.strasoftware.com/tacview-en.php) which allows you to look through the mission afterwards including a log of kills for each unit etc. I use this tool after playing MP missions due to the lack of ingame stats.

How does the AI work for surface to air missile systems that requires several modules (for example S-300, Patriot, Hawk)? In real life the S-300 for example require several modules to operate (54K6 Command vehicle, 64H6E and 30N6 Search and Target radar vehicles (SR and TR in the mission editor) and 5P85C/D Launch vehicles) and would not work without having them. How should one configure a battery of any of these systems so that they work as intended in the mission editor? (Is one of each vehicle is sufficient for full effectivity? How many Launch vehicles can one have per command post etc.?) If I take out the targeting radar vehicle would the launch vehicles also be disabled? How does ammunition count work, should one have some kind of ammunition truck nearby with additional missiles? The SA-11 9A310M1 is a TELAR (which have a radar in the luanch vehicle), but there is a separate radar 9S18M1 available in the mission editor, does that one increase the effectivity of the 9A310M1 if used in the same group?

Ctrl+Pause in the game and you get a FPS Counter in the top left corner  Also keep in mind that the fps can change drastically depending on where on the map you are, (amount of trees etc.)

DCS: How to gain performance on Windows Vista (Windows 7)
eV1Te replied to eV1Te's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Yes that's correct kind of, but Vista isn't called Windows 6, it's only the new Windows that has a version number in the official name "Windows 7" -
DCS: How to gain performance on Windows Vista (Windows 7)
eV1Te replied to eV1Te's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Maybe an administrator could change the name of the thread to (or similar): DCS: How to gain performance on Windows Vista (Windows 7) I think that suites the content of the tread more and maybe more people with Vista can discover it and therefore have a more pleasant gaming experience. Also if possible make it a sticky! -
Is it possible to change the units in the telemetry window (vertical speed from m/min to m/s like ingame for example)? How do I open up the .dat archive that comes with the tacview? (on this page it seems like the data is extracted somhow? http://lomac.strasoftware.com/tacview-static-objects.php )
-
I haven't looked in to it, but would it be possible to extract the images of the units within the encyclopedia and from that make a list, its hard work to place every unit in the mission editor and take screenshots manually for every unit?
-
Very interesting that Winrar can open .miz files directly, thanks for answering my question!

Think of it as the helicopter is moving forward the blades on one side moves into the wind and on the other side with the wind. This is of course reversed on the other rotor and there fore they flex up at different sides, so on one side they flex apart from each other and the other side they flex towards each other.
-
That's because XP utilizes several cores very badly compared to Vista
-
Due to the fact that the top rotors rotate clockwise and bottom anti clockwise. The right side of the top rotor rotates against the flying direction therefore have less lift and less flex, for the bottom rotor it's the opposite and the right side flexes up and meets the top rotor on the right side. When one give right rudder inputs the bottom rotor receives a higher pitch angle and top rotor less pitch and therefore gives torque to the helicopter to turn right, at the same time higher pitch to the lower rotor makes it flex more and less pitch to the top makes it flex less.

This is exactly what I have been missing from BS, great tool! The ingame tracks doesn't always work and the debrief.log file contains nothing useful.

DCS: How to gain performance on Windows Vista (Windows 7)

Which one of the tools are you using right now? I use wombat778's script since it was the first one I saw and I haven't had any problems with it since. -
No but I haven't tested myself only read from other people... Check out the thread that I linked to a few post up for more info.

I also tried a heavy autorotation landing using maximum onboard fuel and with 2200 kg extra fuel in fuel tanks (heaviest payload you can use)! Which adds up to a decent rate of 15 m/s in autorotation... :music_whistling: And after a few tests I managed to do autorotation landings with less than 3 G (which i read somewhere is the rated maximum stress on the Ka-50?!). ev1te_autorotation_heavy.trk

Look here as well, I summarized some of the tools... http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=37249

How did you solve it? (so others can make use of your experience)

Have you looked at the "Tracking" windows in the TrackIR software so that your head doesn't goes out of frame when you do that? I can get really close with my TrackIR but there is a difference of using zoom and just moving the camera in the cockpit (which TrackIR does)...
-
Yes, but still the Vikhr launch tubes is still there, how much does they weight? Also the Cannons ammunition weighs almost 500 kg should you fire them of as well? Even if I use only a small amount of fuel and no weapons I can not make a stand still on the spot autorotation landing...

Yes I did, one waypoint south of the base (5-10km from the base) with the targeting area over the base and parented to that waypoint and the next one north of the base. Sometimes one of the aircrafts would attack some singel random unit with an air-to-ground missile, sometimes the flew over them did and did some nice maneuvers to avoid AAA, but they newer flew back and attacked after that even though they must have noticed the units due to the AAA fire. I guess aircrafts have ha hard time spotting vehicles and small buildings on the ground, but how do I force them to notice them earlier? (Recomended flight height for air-to-ground aircrafts, lower air speed etc.?)
-
I think we are talking of different things here... I'm talking of aircrafts and other vehicles that are not my wingmen, AI units that I can not speak to, and the targeting zones I'm talking of is those specified in the mission editor for their waypoints.
