It's working again!
I deleted SteamVR and WMR for Steam and deleted any remains of it on my hard drive. Opened Steam and they propmted my to download both of them. I've just played a 2 hour mission and no crashes at all. All is well again.
Oh thats not good to hear. Is there any log files or anything than might help pin down what's going on.
I've spent thousands on my PC and it's one problem after another with getting this sim to work without any faults.
Tried again today and couldn't get a through a single mission without steam vr crashing.
Didn't happen before my upgrade and subsequent fresh windows 10 install.
I've just built myself a new PC that appears to running very well and a lot faster than before.
I only play in VR now with Reverb G1 but keep getting Steam VR crashes which obviously means I need to restart DCS every time.
I've tried both stable and beta versions of Steam VR and they both crash. The only thing I can see is a program called 360 degree video is present in the task manager when it crashes which wasn't there before.
Could this be the cause and how do I go about fixing it?
In the ferry scramble missions for the channel map your wingman can't take off. He turns to the right and tries to take off through the trees. Happens every time.
After a bit of tweaking and turning XMP2 on it now runs much better than before. I have just flown a P51 bomber escort mission with about 50 B17's in the air plus fighter escorts and it was very smooth. My old CPU/RAM could not run this at all. I'm very glad I went with 64 GB of ram too. Syrian is using over 40!
It was the unigine heaven benchmark. Not sure if that only really tests the gpu or not.
I'll take a look in the bios but it's a asus prime z590-p wifi board.
It's the benchmark test that's more disappointing really.
Xmp just says auto. I've got a new motherboard so I haven't touched any settings on that at all.
I've just changed from an i5 3570k overclocked to 4.1 ghz with 24gb of very old slow ddr3 ram to an i7 11700k with 64 gb of 3200mhz ddr4 ram.
There is virtually no difference in fps or frame time at all which is disappointing. Even when I ran a benchmark program before and after the old system just beats it.
Is there some settings I need to be changing to get the best out of this new processor?
I'm running an Amd 6800xt as well.
Mine wouldn't boot the other day directly after a windows update.
It gets to the welcome screen then the circle of dots just go round and round.
Sometimes it boots OK, other times I have to restart it a few times.
Very annoying as it was working fine before.
Does anyone have a solution for this?
Near to the ground if I look to the side I get terrible stutters. If I Alt Tab but still look through my Reverb it's smooth but obviously you can't use any controls.
The only way I have found to smooth it out all the time is to force DX11 in the Steam VR settings but the quality is reduced.
Why would forcing DX11 cause the sim to run smoothly?
Just flown another misson, this time at night with similar clouds.
The SEAD flight destroyed all sorts of AAA and sams using all of their missiles. Maybe the ai don't like using F mavs during the day.
