Again, that's the problem. People don't run on DCS time, they run on their own. To expect the entire planet to bow down to your timeline and say nothing at all is, sorry to say, not only arrogant but more than a bit ridiculous and unrealistic.
-
The problem with all of that is they announce it and they post a really cool video about it and it gets you all hyped up and then nothing. It's been a year since that announcement and video were posted. They sort of created the problem themselves by posting that to begin with. That could have waited until they knew they were closer to the end. The "hurry up and wait" approach has never and will never please anybody.

TrackIR Killer: Facial AI Tracking Using WebCam
Gomez Adams replied to Ghiath's topic in DCS World Tutorial & Help Requests
UPDATE: I finally got TrackIR 5 with the infrared headset attachment bundle. It is light years better than the free OpenTrack / AITrack combo. It's not even in the same class. So for free, sure. The OpenTrack / AITrack combo is cool. It'll do in a pinch. But once you get the TrackIR 5 bundle, you'll kick yourself in the butt for having not done it in the first place. Far, far, far superior in every way. -
F14 seems very prone to drift, solutions?
Gomez Adams replied to Ddg1500's topic in Bugs and Problems
I had that problem only once on takeoff and landing. I forgot to re-lock the front wheel. I was fighting drift big time on takeoff and on the landing because of it before I figured it out. Once it got going one way it was almost impossible to bring it back. Had me scratching my head for nearly an hour before I figured it out. -

What's more, you can go here to convert any music file you want into ogg format: MP3 to OGG (Online & Free) — Convertio I use Nazi Driver by Soundgarden.

I made it in 2k and it clipped even worse than the original. The original from the game is 2402 x 1080 and it clipped as well. What resolution you're in isn't going to matter I think.

Thank you for sharing that. It's much appreciated. Edit to add: I play on a single 2k monitor and have never like the loading screen image because it's grainy, washed out looking and it cuts off the squadron names on either side of the screen, so I created one that doesn't. Here it is if any of you want to use it:

F-4E Phantom Development Report - DCS Newsletter 31/03/2023

And that is not wide open, which means maximum settings on everything. I didn't figure I'd have to actually spell that out. -
F-4E Phantom Development Report - DCS Newsletter 31/03/2023
Gomez Adams replied to IronMike's topic in DCS: F-4E Phantom
It's actually 12 years, not 9. You're counting first flight only, not development and production. The Phantom's first flight was in 1958, but was being engineered with the latest technologies of 1952-1955. It also went into production that very same year. The Vigen on the other hand had its first flight in 1967 having been engineered with technology from the 60's, far beyond that of the Phantom, but it didn't go into actual production until 1970 and got some pretty big technological advances due to that as well, so stock vs stock, the Viggen had a big advantage over the Phantom, over a decade's worth. Just take a look at how far video cards, RAM and processors have come in the last 10 years. Can you imagine trying to run this game wide open on a 10 year old computer? -
It's still very, very strange not being able to shoot an aircraft directly in front of you. I have to be a good deal below them to be able to hit them, even when I'm within 500 meters of them. It actually seems as though the bullets should be shooting my own nose off they come out at such an upwards angle. In other news: the sidewinders work exactly as advertised.

I'm new to DCS and just bought the F14 Tomcat during the summer sale last week. I've been trying to learn it little by little and just tried the gun tutorial. The problem I'm having is that the gun seems to fire WAY too high at roughly a 30 degree angle above the aircraft. Here's a screen shot: So as I'm coming up behind the big aircraft I'm supposed to shoot down, I have to be way below it to actually be able to hit it. The manual says that I should have my gun elevation (right side panel towards the bottom) set at 53, which it is. Is this normal and something I have to learn to live with or am I doing something horribly wrong?

Whatever size it is, you need to free up a lot more space. On a drive that size, you should always have around 70 GB open. You're never supposed to run your drive with any less than 15% of the drive space open. Presently, you're running at 6%. So if you're having any issues, that's why.

reported P-47 Instant blows up by hard landing after last patch
Gomez Adams replied to 303_Kermit's topic in Bugs and Problems
That's odd. I just bought the P47 yesterday. I had two Captain Kangaroo style landings and nothing happened. -
Just bought the P47 on sale yesterday. Thanks for the link!

TrackIR Killer: Facial AI Tracking Using WebCam
Gomez Adams replied to Ghiath's topic in DCS World Tutorial & Help Requests
I'm using AITrack and OpenTrack with a simple Logitech C920 webcam. It works amazingly well. I'm in a completely dark room. I was so suprised with how well it worked out of the box, I made a video of it to show a friend. Here it is: Keep in mind this was the first time I started up the program just yesterday. I was adjusting it as I went, which is why it jerks around quite a bit from time to time. I've since played around with the mapping a bit and made it even better. No, it's not Track IR quality I'm sure, but for free I don't think anybody can complain about the performance. -
LMAO!!! Sorry, man, but that is funny. I initially bought mine for Elite Dangerous. I'm just now getting my feet wet here.

Thanks!

Just wondering what etiquette is on online servers for free flight: Should I use the \ and F keys to ask permission to start up, taxi and take off like it showed on one of tutorials or is it more a "just don't hit anybody and enjoy your flight" sort of thing?
-
First off, there are no tutorials that come with the A10A. There are some I downloaded from the user place that I tried to use. I am also using all the default key binds. The only reason I tried to change it to close the cockpit canopy and center the camera is because they are not working in those tutorials. I clearly stated that the close the cockpit canopy works just fine outside of those tutorials, but the center camera does not. How about not spread misinformation and conspiracy theories about what I actually said.
-
I may have typed it wrong here but in game it works everywhere except the tutorial for the A10A. I've had some other issues with the A10A as well, like the camera center doesn't work. It works everywhere else, but not on that aircraft. It's like they simply let the A10A just die because a lot of it doesn't work at all. It works on the other planes, but not it. Maybe they figured since the A10 C came out nobody flies the old A anymore.

Thanks!

I am back for the third time as I recently got a decent flight stick. I already own the A10 A, but the user made tutorial missions no longer work. Well, they load, it's just that they're glitchy. Example: in the cold start taxi and takeoff lesson, I can't close the cockpit. The canopy (shift C) simply does not work. Even if I map it to something else it will not work. It works if I do a regular mission and cold start there. So I downloaded a couple of tests planes. The user made tutorials for the F15 C seem to be really good so far, so I'll probably wind up getting it to learn on and then transfer what I learn over to the A10 A later on. So my first question is: does DCS have any regular sales? If so are any coming up soon? Reason I ask is if they have a sale next month I can wait till then to buy rather than buying now and basically wasting money. I did that in War Thunder - bought a plane for 50 bucks and two weeks later it went on sale for half off. Second question: are there any servers that are just flight testing? I don't know how to create missions yet and I want to just practice starting up, taking off, flying around a bit and landing and other than the tutorial I don't see a way to do that. Thanks in advance for any help.

Beginner help and Controller Help
Gomez Adams replied to Gomez Adams's topic in New User Briefing Room
Not sure what your problem is, pal. I've asked if it was possible several times to set it up a certain way and been told pretty much "no" unless I have an analog setup. I was done with the conversation. Feel free to let it go yourself.
