Yup I remember Flanker 1.0... It was state of the art then... Amazing how things have changed and I think the next 10 years will be even more dramatic...

Ok, Super Noob here... Last time I flew it was "Flaming Cliffs" about 8 years back... My understanding is that 1.5 will be sucked into 2.0 anyway "soon"... Starting with a totally clean machine... It sounds like to start having fun I need to: 1) Download 2.0 basic files (seems like theres been confusion on additional files, etc...) 2) Get inside 2.0 to download all the modules from within 2.0. 3) Keep downloading 2.0 updates as they come about and in a month or a few get Black Sea as an integral part of the 2.0 update since they will be combined. Is this right? Also, How many Gig is a fresh install of 2.0? How many GB on average for each module?

Hi all... I also have an Uber NXT2 and love it... But it's been like 8 years since I've flown with it so I need some help to get it going... Does anyone have any good Cougar files for DCS or know where I can get some? Do folks use Digital Foxy 4 or something else to program and load the files, etc...??

I searched all Forums for HomeFries and found no entries. Any other ideas. I'd be amazed if there aren't at least 1000 Cougar folks out there still using DCS...

It's been 8 years since I was last able to fly and I'm really excited about getting back into the groove. I'm looking for a "recent" sort of FAQ on the best way to go about getting started and getting all the right software installed, etc... Doesn't "Digital Foxy" go with the Cougar? I can't remember... Do I need to reflash hardware, etc...? Any tips for being successful? Basically from noob to expert on getting the Cougar stick and throttle back out of the box and getting it going with the least amount of frustration... Also looking for some well made Cougar files for DCS, (BOS and P3D too) if anyone knows where to get them... Thanks. Cavemanhead

Reliability and IQ first priority, then speed... Any recommendations for what you know works?

Wondering what kind of settings/framerates to expect with the subject hardware, and 16GB of RAM driving, and SSD, driving a 1920 x 1080 monitor...??? I typically like things no less than 50 FPS. Will I be there on 1.5?

When I try to purchase this map, it says I have $14 credit on my account. I'm assuming those are my "credits"... Yet, it says I can't apply any of that balance to this purchase. Does anyone know why?

Does the F-15 Flight Model use AFM or PFM? I think I've seen it both ways... Is it AFM for FC3 and PFM for DCS World 1.5/2.0?

I've got a 256 SSD and a 1 TB HDD. How much space on average does each plane module take over the DCS world base install? Can I leverage the 1TB slow HDD to store large files yet get the speed from the SSD by installing DCS World there where the OS is?

Well, I'm bummed. The sale said "4th to 14th". I ready that as midnight tonight (the 14th) was when I had to purchase. I started putting things in my cart at 9:30 pm CT, and see that I'm getting no discounts so the sale must be off. When will the next 50% off sale be?

I assume the huey is the best heli if oneis looking for a challenge and a helicopter that flies the most like a real chopper that requires lots of pedal action to keep it straight??? I'm much more into the pure flying fun than attacking things, etc...

What do I get when I buy the non STEAM version? Am I buying a "key" so that I can download anytime and multiple times (if I reformat or something)?

Pardon my ignorance, but I've been out of the flight sim hobby for about 8 years... Getting back in... I loved flanker... So, it appears only the A-10 has a disk version and all others are download. Are they all straight download or steam or both? I think I'd prefer to NOT use STEAM but I 'm not sure... Any thoughts?

Getting more confused... I thought Nevada was the first EDGE 2.0 map. How can 2.0 be released before Nevada? How can you release EDGE before you release an edge-based map. I don't get it...:helpsmilie:

Thanks! So, I guess the PFM is higher fidelity than the AFM? If so, I'm confining myself to that. Is the new F-15C a PFM? What aircraft have (or will have) the PFM? Also, are you saying that If I get DCS world I can upgrade my BS and A-10 to get the better versions of those?

I started simming about 30 years ago but I've been out for the loop for the last 7 years or so with almost zero time flying on the PC... The little time I've had for simulation has been for forum lurking etc... I purchased the SSI simulations years ago (can't remember the name, but flew the SU-27 if I recall). I also purchased LOMAC years ago and enjoyed it. More recently (maybe 5 years ago now) I purchased BS and A10 with hopes of having time to fly but alas, the time never materialized. This is looking like the year that I can get back in and have some fun. EDGE looks fantastic and I can't wait to fly again! But there are so many DCS products now, I have no ide what to get and what (if any) use the original LOMAC, BS, and A10 value are. Can these be used for anything now, or are they just a "sunk cost"? DCS-wise, my interest is in flying a very realistic rendition of a plane in a realistic environment. Believe it or not, combat and weaponry is a distant second to just "flying around" in a believable cockpit, AFM, and graphical environment. I have an interest in Helicopters, but my primary interest is fixed wing. I want to be able to fly in EDGE ASAP when it comes out. I love the MIG-29 and SU-27 as much (if not more) than the F-15. I love WWII aircraft as much as modern aircraft. From what I gather, based on the aformentioned, I would want to purchase/fly anything with an AFM... I guess that would be SU-25, F-15C, A-10C, P-51, and FW-190. Yes? Do I need to purchase "DCS World" to fly these planes? What would be my best path ahead as far as purchasing goes? What should I buy based on my interests in AFM and EDGE. I have no interest in driving ground vehicles. Please help. Thanks.

I lurk and check in every now and then to check progress on Nevada terrain etc... I've been out of simming for ~5 years due to personal life being too busy but hope to build a new rig and get back in Nov-Dec timeframe... I purchased BS1 (DVD) and A-10 (Steam) and have never fired up either. I am only interested in AFM only, but if I understand correctly, that will be offered up on FC3 now??? Please help me purchase best bang for buck strategy for integrating products into "DCS World"? I'm confused... What is my best path forward if I want to fly BS, Mustang, and any other AFM plane or Heli (Russian or US)??? Also want to use Nevada IG when it arrives. Please help - there are so many options at this point, I'm not sure what to do. Not sure what is best bang for the buck path forward.

What is projected Nevada scenery release date? Pardon if this has been asked a million times, but curious about the subject... I only stop in here occassionally... I remember a thread on the Nevada scenery and it looked promising... Have the developers ditched the project? Understanding was that it was supposed to use new DX11 features and speed FPS while looking better... Is that the gist of it?
