Terranav auto fixing even if radar is OFF?
Leadnap replied to DarkStar79's topic in DCS: AJS37 Viggen
We're on the same page then, I only wondered because I do think about emissions and detection by ground sensors - though this is probably poorly if at all modeled in DCS and thus irrelevant to "play" - if you were doing some real deep strike stuff IRL such considerations would probably matter but especially here it IS a major price to pay if the only simulated result is not having radar ranged altitude on the HUD. -

Which specific lines do you bind? I have my A1 A2 and A0 bound (tried both the toggle and the switch lines) but none seem to do anything in the EP13. -

I don't have VR (yet) but I swap between 2D and T-IR which I certainly notice differences in the views (which is very weird) but I haven't noticed a difference in radar image quality. -
The higher you go the more economical you will be in any aircraft - which is why civilian airliners hang out at 30k feet to cruise. It boils down to friction for the most part. The Viggen's control surfaces don't like supersonic speeds - though the aircraft on the whole performs marvelously up there. I am by no means a physicist, but I imagine that a greater deal of energy is needed to further propel you past the sound barrier, so if economic speed for M0.9 is at 10k meters - ideally above that M0.9 would then psudo-logically still make sense as the most efficient. I know once you pass the barrier dynamics change in ways I can't currently imagine, but that is my quazi-Newtonian theory on the 10k ceiling presented in the manual. :joystick:

[ART] EP13 Brightness/Contrast Controls Missing
Leadnap replied to SGT Coyle's topic in Bugs and Problems
I know this has been dead a little bit - but I am not able to even keyboard command the A0/1/2 changes which would help immeasurably! I've not been following these developments so I am just trying to figure out if the functionality entirely doesn't exist or if just the actual cockpit switches don't command the change? Thanks! -

You beat me to it... -
So, I am not proud to have found this bug - but took a close hit by a Strella and decided this was finally the chance to test the canopy ejection button. Awesome! However I noticed both live and then watching the replay - when I ejected the canopy it ejected like it should. When I ejected myself from the cockpit, another canopy appeared and ejected - so I must have somehow activated the second emergency canopy! I am not entirely sure what the recourse would be, I imagine the graphics are set for the full ejection sequence; but thought I would bring it up anyhow.

Terranav auto fixing even if radar is OFF?
Leadnap replied to DarkStar79's topic in DCS: AJS37 Viggen
Right no I understood that - what I am trying to figure out, is if I have the altimeter switched to Barometric, is the radar altimeter radar no longer emitting energy? I am trying to determine what needs to be done for an entirely passive flight. -
This was a huge help

So just to make sure I can also say "I am sure" - if you stick to barometric low altitude reading does the radar altimeter not emit? -
Here they are.... https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3302849/?sphrase_id=14813195

Okay, finished both and will work on getting them onto the DCS main site downloads so you can grab 'em. The Type 2 I did cut back on the original plans (in part because I actually re-did the GOR logo so that I could flip it correctly* on the Type 2, don't really have the time today to re-do the Type 1 so the right side goes backwards and the quality of the image is not as good (because its from the provided sample). Type 2 still features subdued bust, fully customized squadron logos, and some nice extra touches. Pushed the Maroon because it blends better with the terrain and because you guys seem to like red. Meant this to be less of an air-show and more practical combat livery. Might touch these up in the future. Still not the craziest on the tail art, but the logo is really complex so it's less "legible" to translate like I did. I don't follow Ace Combat so you guys will have to tell/provide other iconography that might translate better in the future. *flipping the original image was fine, except the text would be backwards. Now if you look closely you'll see that the text in both logos reads properly and she always faces forwards. I also added another small touch for the Viggen on it.

Care to elaborate on what the issue is?

Awesome - it was a misunderstanding on my part. Thanks so much Cobra.

** DCS AJS-37 Development Update + Manual RC1 Release **
Leadnap replied to Cobra847's topic in DCS: AJS37 Viggen
I've found them to be quite useful, but I and others have also produced YouTube tutorials as well explaining most of this stuff. The Chucks guide is also useful. Can you be more specific about whats confusing? -
Just hoping someone from HB could answer this - in the change log from yesterday I saw that : "New! Added significantly better quality uncompressed normal maps for entire exterior" Are these just being updated in the googledrive where the current .PSD files were being kept or how do we get our hands on these for livery editing? Or have I just completely misunderstood this? Thanks!

Thanks!

What I'm currently working on … its a royal pain due to the quality of the logo file, but when all is said and done, should look descent, make everyone want to fly a Viggen
-
Here is the Type 1 … Type 2 is going to be sexier, but will take me a little longer to make. Importing a logo over the M90 pattern is pretty simple.

Also do you have a flatter more generic version of the emblem? I've found they work exponentially better (and I wouldn't have to fix the white lens flares). Anyhow - I can pretty easily throw this together if its just little stuff like the emblem. Any other markings (by this I mean, do you want the emblem in traditional roundel positions like on the wings, or just the tail). I can throw the white numbering on the nose to - what number do you want? Also I can just call it "RAZGRIZ" or if you have a name you want it to show up under in game let me know. Edit Update: Okay, so you're getting TWO liveries for this. I'm mimicking the F14 version as a Viggen (so you get the marking style of a Viggen/SAF) but this was boring to do, so I am also making a stylized version which will undoubtedly be more bad ass that everyone will want to use. Why? Because the second one will actually let my creative side play a little. When everyone asks why the AJS37 livery is more cool, well, because its on a Viggen and they are better.

Just the emblem on the tail?

Dealing with the Data Cartridge over multiple strikes
Leadnap replied to Schmidtfire's topic in DCS: AJS37 Viggen
When you are inserting the new cartridge - are you entering 9099 into the CK37 to load it? I've noticed a lot of problems in general with the cartridges and would properly enter the airport I was at and what not, but my WPs would always be off. I figured out that if I though of "9099" not as "fictional airport 99" and instead as "load cartridge" everything worked correctly.
