  1. Hi all, Looking to take the plunge on the FSSB-R3 and thinking about getting the F16SGRH to go along with it instead of my THW Stick... Question 1. FSSB.. just do it and don't look back? Any regrets? Question 2. F16SGRH.. its not painted, just a "rough" resin finish... will that get all gunked-up with sweat/skin and a pita to clean? Not sure I can stomach 2x price for the painted version :noexpression: Question 3. F16SGRH.. worth it over the TMW and maybe getting the angle adapter instead? Thanks!
  2. thanks @000rick000 ! I'll adjust my assumptions next go-around and see how 420s hold up. Side note, is it impossible to HH (HammerHead) an F16? Maybe the rudder is too small, etc? I cannot stall out and snap-yaw-over... its just more of a flop, and then I'm stuck and lose at least 5k alt trying to get the nose to point down, or worse, stall/stuck and have to hold the pitch override and it takes like 15-20k of alt to recover. Trying to find the best vertical extend/re-commit approach since I don't have to worry about eating an IR up the tailpipe. If I try to just loop over at say 250-300kts, it takes probably 8k alt to point in right direction and by then I'm usually at co-alt or even below the enemy, losing the alt-advantage-gap I had just created. thoughts? (sorry to digress this thread).
  3. Am I doing something wrong here? Been spending some time on JDF server / reviewing tacviews of my 1v1 and 1vN guns-only fights. Generally getting to know the limits of the G/TurnRate/AOA and how early to pull lead, abort, etc. Even at general sweet spot, 390-410kts (HUD), I have rarely seen 21deg turn rate. usually I'm 17-19. (sometimes a barrel roll I can see 23-24 for an instant..dunno why...rudder deflection maybe?). F-18/14/15/M2k are pulling 23+ and I have to extend/reset/yo-yo, etc. I'm not talking about them at high-AOA/slow-speeds either, where I know that's not my fight... we could both be doing 400ish / holding it, and still I can't match the rate. And this could be from 6G to 9G+, before GLOC... I guess I thought I would have >= 23 degree and able to outrate for a short time before gloc..but can't... I have zero curve on the axis profiles (T50cm2), just shortened the max from 100% to 75% to get a bit steeper of a profile...
  4. mmm yea.. 5 min with vr controllers.. thats a no go :)
  5. thanks for the feedback! I'm going to give the vr controllers 1 more go and then decide!
  6. Hi all, Any of you use the MFD Cougar twin packs while in VR? Count the buttons like psuedo-braille before you push perhaps? Faster with just using mouse instead? Been thinking about them but I haven't flown non-VR in probably 2 years, and will never go back to 2D :)
  7. Hmmm. Maybe the mailman has MFGs and took mine :-)
  8. I did this test for the F-18 maybe a month ago (and threw in a quick comparison to the F-16). You can find that thread here: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=279839 Decided to focus solely on F-16 this time to attempt to answer same basic question.. cost of stores drag, pylons, etc. I used the exact same PG mission as before, only difference is 2 DCS updates since I last did this test. This time around, I wanted to know about each of the stores vs pylon.. ie as you dropped your tank(s), fired your 120s, and pylon remaining, what effect did it have on max speed. To keep the autopilot happy, i fired 2 at a time (6->4->2->0). Note: JETT = Jettison F-16 A/A Load-outs (HUD indicated kts /mach) (V2) 652/1.17 remove center, tank 4/6 pylons, 6x120c 792/1.43 remove center, JETT tank 4/6 pylons, 6x120c 805/1.46 remove center, JETT tank 4/6 pylons, JETT 2 of 6x120c 817/1.48 remove center, JETT tank 4/6 pylons, JETT 4 of 6x120c 828/1.50 remove center, JETT tank 4/6 pylons, JETT 6 of 6x120c 780/1.41 center tank, remove 4/6 pylons, 6x120c 806/1.46 JETT center tank, remove 4/6 pylons, 6x120c 816/1.48 JETT center tank, remove 4/6 pylons, JETT 2 of 6x120c 828/1.50 JETT center tank, remove 4/6 pylons, JETT 4 of 6x120c 839/1.52 JETT center tank, remove 4/6 pylons, JETT 6 of 6x120c I still feel the single tank is the best option given we are usually fighting with 100 miles of AO. The drop tank pylons only have a minor impact on speed (806/1.46 vs 792/1.43) once Jett'd. but even 14kts helps! :-)
  9. Never thought I’d make so many trips to my mailbox hoping its arrived. Feels like pre-email world :-)
  10. Had same issue. Opening it up and tightening the screws solved it for me.
  11. Wish the mail service worked as fast as you! You will be 5gens ahead by the time mine make it through the system ! :-)
  12. Cant wait to try these beta pedals out! I have the MFG width extenders on the “arms”, assume those are not going to be compatible with the rear brace...?
  13. I remember reading a post last year about various stores drag and the fact that 2x racks didn't seem to have any difference vs single racks. My goal was to see if anything has changed since then with the drag characteristics and its effect on max speed. TL;DR; Single vs Dual racks on F-18 still make no difference. Test was very simplistic, using SP mode, Persian Gulf Map, 10k altitude, Auto Pilot Enabled, full A/B and use Time-Accel to find max speed stabilze. Tested a variety of load-outs on the F-18 (and F-16 for comparison). Carrying missiles on all possible racks (single or dual) yields the worst performance. Better to carry one dual rack and leave inner pylons empty or with tanks. Given there is only a 0.1 mach (0.99 vs 0.98 ) difference between taking a center tank vs 2 wing tanks, with same missile load-out, might as well have the extra fuel. Only way to compete with the F-16 is if they are loaded for bear, and you are clean with just 2 cheek and 2 tip missiles (scramble load-out perhaps?) As opposed to the F-18, the center vs dual tanks is a factor for the F-16! If you can be mindful of fuel/flying high, a center tank vs 2 wing tanks make a good 0.23 mach (1.39 vs 1.16) difference (~123kts). Load-outs in red appears to be optimal for most CAP, general A/A situations. F-18 A/A Load-outs (HUD indicated kts /mach) 638/1.16 remove center,2 cheeks 120c, remove plyons, tips 9x 608/1.10 center tank, 2 cheeks 120c, tips 9x 548/0.99 center tank, 2 cheeks 120c, 2x120c racks outer only, tips 9x 547/0.99 center tank, 2 cheeks 120c, 2x120c racks inner only, tips 9x 547/0.99 center tank, 2 cheeks 120c, 1x120c racks outer only, tips 9x 547/0.99 center tank, 2 cheeks 120c, 1x120c racks inner only, tips 9x 537/0.98 remove center, 2 cheeks 120c, 2xtanks, 2x120c racks outer, tips 9x 531/0.96 center tank, 2 cheeks 120c, 2xtanks, 2x120c racks outer, tips 9x 527/0.96 center tank, 2 cheeks 120c, 1x120c all racks, tips 9x 527/0.96 center tank, 2 cheeks 120c, 2x120c all racks, tips 9x F-16 A/A Load-outs (HUD indicated kts /mach) 870/1.58 remove all pylons, tips 120c 804/1.46 remove center, remove 4/6 pylons, 6x120c 765/1.39 center tank, remove 4/6 pylons, 6x120c 765/1.39 center tank, remove 4/6 pylons, 4x120c, 2x9x (2/8 rack) 765/1.39 center tank, remove 4/6 pylons, 4x120c, 2x9x (3/7 rack) 642/1.16 remove center, tank 4/6 pylons, 6x120c 591/1.07 center tank, tank 4/6 pylons, 6x120c Good Luck to F-18 in a co-alt BVR 120c slug-fest with F-16! Just taking the "red" load-outs, that's a 0.41 mach energy advantage transfer to the missile!!! Lastly, did a "jettison the tanks" test for those two load-outs, and the delta grows 0.1m to 0.42m (F-16 1.43m vs F-18 1.01m)! Yikes! Get into the weeds I suppose!
  14. Found a convenient way to get the F16 canted ~15degree forward angle on my T50cm2 with TMW stick and VPC desk mount. Was going to buy a shapeway adapter for the grip but scoffed at their shipping being higher than the part itself, plus a month wait! I removed the top 2 bolts from the adjustable arm and tilted it to line up with the “triangle” cutouts, then put in a longer bolt and large washer and used an anglefinder to adjust to that 13-15 degrees. Works great and much more comfortable angle in sidestick f16 use!
  15. Related to the visibility, is there a mod that will increase the data link altitude and cursor elevation range font sizes that will pass IC?
  16. took out the screws and that funky rubber washer on the pinky trigger switch. I tightened down the internal screw a bit, it wasn't really loose, but after reassembling, the "shifting" is gone. thanks!
  17. Dreadwing can you provide some directions?
  18. Started noticing it this week, the stick "shifts/pivots" every so slightly forward/back depend on forward/back pressure. It's like the inner gray-metal part that screws into the base and goes up into the main stick housing is wallowing out. I saw a few hex screws on side of stick and attempted to tighten, but they are already tight/didn't make a difference... Anyone else have this issue? My TMW stick that's 5+ years old doesn't have this issue.
  19. Had a new issues. Got "both" the 25 and 30 controls mapped the same... Then I did a flight in a Spit and had to adjust a few controls. After that flight I went back to the P51.. 50% of the controls were wrong! Some serious bug with mappings of pne aircraft carrying across/breaking another!
  20. Heard 1 person was notified they shipped... i havent heard anything myself yet.
  21. Was testing out the fixed TWS the other night in MP and had some (what I felt) strange behavior. 1. When cycling through targets, it would often select a target that was further out than the distance on display. Ie it would select something at 45 miles when the radar display was only 20 miles. This would happen whether radar was 5, 10, 20, or 40 miles... 2. When cycling through targets, it would sometimes select a target that was outside the radius on the display. Ie select a target at 50degrees when the radar was set to 20 or 40 degrees. I would also see this happen when the radar was slewed to the far left, it would sometime select a target at the center/far right... #1 is also the same for AACQ, but I don't think that has any attention lately.
  22. That’s great news Deltaalphalima1, sign me up! That’s the last remaining issue with my cougar!
  23. Should get my replacement cams in month+ Will take pix of old and new to see any visible diff.
