  1. Q: What version of the Hornet is included? A: United States Navy / US Marine Corps F/A-18C in the 2005 time frame. I think that kind of rules out other countries.
  2. No factor. a) Financially trying to get funds for this in 2007 doesn't mean it was available on the jet in 2007. That's very optimistic. b) It's a 2005 hornet, not 2007.
  3. They are coded different in the planes, as you can see in different behaviour, etc. whereas in reality some of those weapons just generate an analog video stream, get enriched with icons etc. before being displayed in the cockpit on various displays. In DCS the MAV was build once for the hornet, and then build realistically again for the Viper, and now they are adapting the Hornet version to be more realistic. This is not bulding it once. As for the Litening, seeing how changes in zoom seem to affect the Hornet atm and not the other platforms, I can only guess that it's not one common codebase either. So more than necessary effort. Etc. No offence, but it just means that other aircraft can't just use them.
  4. According to the supplemental budget in FY 2007 this capability was only requested to be funded in 2007: https://www.secnav.navy.mil/fmc/fmb/Documents/08pres/supplemental/FY07_Supplemental.pdf page 251. This would put it outside the 2005 timeframe.
  5. Mavs work differently on each airplane. Litening works different on each airplane. Harm works different on each airplane.
  6. Doing it on a long distance target might be beneficial from a parallax point of view? I am not sure about the specific times of operation for the different MAV types, but powering them on early might give you less operational time later, so doing that on the way in might be smarter then.
  7. Also as was said already, there is a range gate of 10nm (though an E3 sized target might only start locking at 9nm for whatever reason) for the ACM modes. Still, a lot of bugs and especially with the "as intended" lagging of the lock behind the target (which only affects the F16) it's really not usable. Just set your AIM-9 to BORE instead of SLAV on the SMS and use your head to make them stick. (Or keep TDC depress pressed for the same effect)
  8. with the right graphic settings, they will appear as "blocks" that you can easily make out .. and then when you come closer they blend in with the background.
  9. There were changes in the flight model? O_o
  10. For the FA-18 about 2080 (sometime when physics are no longer a limiting factor for sensors) .. for the F-16 about mid 2000s but build by the cheapest and hobby enthusiasts in a garage who then ran out of funds.
  11. Are you telling me that the stable version really has the defects fixed? They just get the defects and fixes later. That's absolutely all. Or do you see any popular servers on Stable? And if not, ask yourself why! I really can't hear this: "but you're playing open beta" excuse anymore. It's tiring and has no merit.
  12. As far as I understand it for now: - There is an overall healthbar, it's a binary system. As long as the thing has 1hp left, it will be 100% functional. If it's dead, it's dead. Meaning: - You can have the topside of a ship on fire, it will still be perfectly capable of using radar, firing missiles, guns, everything. - A SAM site could have been struck, the radar dish subjected to shrapnel, but since it has 1HP left it's operational as if nothing happened - Tanks won't have their tracks blown off, crew impacted by concussion, vehicles will have tires that will only blow out as soon as the entire vehicle goes. I wrote it in another thread: I'd expect this from a game pre 1990, but nothing newer. But as BIGNEWY said, they know what they are doing and it will be fixed in "a future patch".
  13. The real problem: - The game allows you to spam a physical button in the virtual cockpit many more times than physically possible - The game does not take into account that 100 chaff or 50 chaff blooming at the exact spot in space makes little difference (afaik chaff currently gives you a dice roll to beat a missile lock (though not an aircraft/SAM lock)) So be disappointed in the game. If you don't want to use anything but proprogrammed CMDS stuff, then do that.
  14. Afaik as soon as a laserpoint is detected the fins deflect fully in any one direction to minimize offset. then it's going fully into the other direction. So it's really, really bad And one of the reasons why you don't lase too early. Doing control inputs in a very economic way.
  15. I fail to see the bright side .. - ECM is oversimplified and would only be acceptable for a game from before 1990 - Chaff is oversimplified and would only be acceptable for a game from before 1990 - Having the missiles be simulated on the shooter's clientside is very questionable - Missing proximity fuses in MP is a joke - AI immediatly knowing what and when you shot at whom is a joke - The current "notching" logic where you pull it through once (if you're AI) or hold it in the notch for a few milliseconds and then it's trashed forever and never reaquires is quite boring and caters very much to Airquakers (imho) ... it feels like strafejumping in Counterstrike back in the days. Nonsensical, but it gives you one more mechanic for esports. For AG the list would go on: - Healthpoint based system would be acceptable for a game from before 1990 - Missing splash damage is a joke - Low-update frequency of laserpoint tracking is also quite bad
  16. ALE-50 was referenced here in this thread a lot. Yes, the Gen-X would be dispensed and that's all jolly good. I was talking about the ALE-50. Which is not the Gen-X but a towed decoy system.
  17. Does the ANL-50 not require the upgrade to ALR-67(V)3 Jammer? Which is budgetwise as OSIP 021-08 planned for sometime through 2023 (with 188 pieces by then) ? So will the Hornet also get the ALR-67(V)3 and the ALQ-214(V)4/5 then which are part of that OSIP?
  18. Just put this out. Currently includes UHF/VHF channels, Waypoints, ALOW, BINGO and TPOD-Code: https://github.com/destotelhorus/Soft-MDC/releases/tag/v1.0.0 It's useful if you fly on public servers or have fixed training missions for which you want changing flightplans to load into your plane.
  19. That is very .... uplifting ..
  20. Any pylon with 1 or more mavericks can be a part of that ripple fire. But it cannot be more than 1 mav per pylon.
  21. Can you copy that post over? I don't use Facebook and it would be nice to hear these important news in .. well .. the forum of that plane that it's about ^^
  22. Check if you have any axis bound to hud symbology ..
  23. Food for thoughts: a) You are asked to provide trackfiles for every defect, cutting down cost on recreating it on ED's side. b) It is my observation that issues are claimed to be "as intended" or "correct" if they aren't currently on the agenda to be discussed/acknowledged/picked up. Some time later (sometimes years, like with the AIM120) there will be a heureka moment and then everyone was right all along and things move. You could take advice from the movie Wargames: "The winning move is not to play". But then again, that's missing out on what there is. It is how it is. And if all, that's very poetic for a company with russian developers.
  24. Thanks for checking it out for non auto started ones .. I really only did it with autostart to make the steps to reproduce as tidy and short as possible. I don't think it makes sense posting a trackfile now, as this defect will likely be fixed in 2 years or later when the trackfile won't even play anymore. those steps to reproduce will last longer.
