  1. I don’t think you’re going to find one that matches the HB Tomcat. If there was an A(Plus) NATOPS out there (for a while you would actually see NATOPS with A(Plus) in the title) with change pages circa 1993 it would be pretty close, but I haven’t seen one.
  2. Check chapter 22 of the NATOPS....
  3. For me personally, I leave the chaff alone, it seems to work fine. For flares, I select QTY 2 and Multiple. That way, it releases three or four flares at a time (depending on the loadout... one from each bucket). A grouping of three or four flares is much more effective than a single. Spudknocker did a good video demonstration video on the topic.
  4. I used a toggle switch as a modifier in the mappings. You can use any control or key as a modifier.... hopefully you have something to use that latches. It would suck to have to hold a key down while using the controller for LANTIRN.
  5. No, it’s really just a repeater. The display was initially, primarily, an ECM display for the ALR-45/50 and also showed a repeat of the HSD in the front.
  6. I believe the steering info became important at certain points in an engagement. At really long range, I don't think the HUD steering tee was all that important. Once in visual range, it wasn't all that important. But I think at that mid range, where you can't visually see too well what the target is doing, but yet it's maneuvering will have big effects, is when the steering info became important. If you watch that Libyan shootdown video, at about 16 miles you hear the pilot saying he's "centering up the tee".
  7. That doesn't sound right to me. I do know that they have not implemented all of the steering modes yet, so it may just be an artifact of the incomplete implementation.
  8. Ah, I see... My hazy memory is that LD CLSN is azimuth-only and CLSN is azimuth and elevation. To be honest I can't remember when you get which... well I do know that you should only get CLSN when the RIO has selected. Not sure when you get LD CLSN. I didn't think the ACM guard played a role in when PURST (pure pursuit) was active, I thought is was only determined by STT and (non) weapons selection. I'll check it out.
  9. Thanks! Selecting a missile activates Lead Pursuit. Without a weapon selected, you're in Pure Pursuit.
  10. I'm sort of with you as well... it seems to be steering to more of a Lead Pursuit for a weapons launch rather than a collision course. I'll discuss it with HB.
  11. Here's a couple techniques, one of them using CMPTR IP...
  12. Here's couple of the more common techniques when the JTAC is lasing. If the JTAC isn't lasing, you really need some sort of mark on the deck or a good talk-on.

  14. This is my memory, and it's 28 years old so it could be faulty... when your Continuous Wave Illuminator has failed (tested in BIT sequence 3), you would choose to launch the Sparrow in SP PD to home off the AWG-9 frequency. When homing off the AWG-9 transmitter channel, the missile speed gate selection will aid the Sparrow in detecting the target that is in the main lobe of the AWG-9, and not go chasing reflected side lobe energy. It narrows down the doppler filter range of the Sparrow so it will only chase what you want it to chase (at the time of launch).
  15. Grover, yep that was it... with either dust or fog enabled, can't Area or Point track, even if the sliders are at 0. Clouds are fine, but the dust or fog, no can do. Thanks....
  16. Thanks Grover.... I think I had all those boxes checked except for the dead zone. Thanks for the tip and I'll check it out.
  17. Hi scattered, 1/8 coverage, nothing between me and the convoy. I’m going to try it with zero weather.
  18. Saw the same thing last night, MP and human RIO. 10,000 AGL directly overhead a big juicy convoy in the NTTR map. No Area or Point track. Tried WHOT, BHOT, changing the gain for contrast, etc. Seems to be something deeper than an “it can be tricky” thing... I’ll try to narrow it down further.
  19. OK... I didn’t see that he mentioned Case 1
  20. Only need ILS on the VDI if you want the ILS on the VDI. You can fly ICLS on the hud and monitor ACL on the VDI and vice versa...
  21. Only thing you didn’t mention was selecting ILS for the HUD display (top right on PDCP). Make sure you’ve done that.
  22. I'll add my $.02... I can see both sides. Yes, a "v" would prevent someone from accidentally clicking on something they didn't mean to and would save them a mouse click or two. No, a missing "v" is not a big deal. I think what my vShipmates are reacting to is the subtle implication that a missing "v" is some sort of stolen valor thing. It's been more explicitly stated in other forums and it ruffles our feathers. We bristle at that suggestion. We have a core of vets in our air wing and, believe me, if anyone tried to represent something they weren't, A) we'd know in about 5 seconds and B) they'd be virtually tarred and feathered and booted out on their asses. We've booted members who simply tried to misrepresent a pilot rating... or perhaps it was for being so stupid as to lie about something that can be verified in about four mouse clicks. Anyway, I'll encourage my vShipmates to chill out a little bit. Sailors, you know how they can get.....
  23. I don’t remember saying the ALQ-126 controls didn’t do anything. If I did, it was unintentional. The ALQ-126 was a pretty useful system. The ALQ-100, on the other hand, was useless. And that’s not just opinion, it was actually, officially, useless. We uninstalled it from our airplanes. We kept the R/T in the bay for weight and balance reasons, but the cables were tied back and the connectors capped. The control boxes were removed and kept in the shop. In fact, it’s funny that the DECM control box in the Heatblur Tomcat actually looks rougher than the other ones because in real life they were... from being neglected and in a pile in the shop for many years. Another great detail in their Tomcat.
  24. Sweeet!
