Give ED the development budget that Ford and Toyota has... and perhaps things will happen. ;) Alternatively, would you pay an order of magnitude or two more per license? And would enough people do that? No-one wants bugs, but we live in reality. Even the big-money games like Shooter X has issues with this budget-wise, since the reality for the publishers is that even if a single game might make huge wads of cash, they need that money to cover the expenses for the games that didn't pull through economically. And of course, a bug in a computer game does not result in people dying, so the analogy doesn't quite hold. :)

Actually, I find that more enjoyable than most of the other online game variants. Yes I know, I'm weird. :P Think of it like this: your squad gets a new recruit, you're going to get him up to speed and train him up to where he can represent your colors - where better to do that than a real training area? Single-player... perhaps not though. :) But simply flying around is fun too; most of my flying time in the UH-1 is joyriding, actually. :D

Hi Vijar, We are aware of the problem in the system and are looking into it. Unfortunately I cannot say for sure when the problem will be fixed, but it is under investigation.

Only a testing area for new types of aircraft? Perhaps you mean Groom Lake as far as black projects go? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nevada_Test_and_Training_Range Just the biggest air combat training center in the entire world, with yearly appearances from a lot of airforces at Operation Red Flag. :) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_Flag_exercise#Participating_countries ;)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Software_build Remember that it's software we're talking about here. Words might have a specific meaning that is not the same as they have when building a house. ;)

Here's what was said: "This past week we started rebuilding the Nevada map with the new map tools, but it is still early and very rough" Don't over-extrapolate. That was WIP pictures from a reimplementation. Not "starting from scratch". Sometimes words mean exactly what they say. ;)

What is your ticket number? I can take a look at it.

Possible, yeah, but would take a LOT of work. Hopefully something we can see in the not too far off future, though. However, one note: it's not really optimal to specify that something has it's "own core". Sounds doesn't either, actually - it has it's own thread. Then - unless you tinker with it directly - the operating system gets to dynamically assign threads to cores depending on their needs at the moment. Makes the load-balancing between the cores a bit more versatile.

Yeah, but I just want to be sure whether this can be pinned down to a specific config on his computer. He's not that much weaker than mine though (I don't use my OC, btw). His GPU is okey, and the "drops" I see are mainly when the initial tracers are visible, so it shouldn't be ballistics calculation on the CPU. Off-topic for this thread though, but I'd be intrigued to help him out in PM or a different thread to see what can be done there. :)

Could you specify please? I ran some minigun tests just to see now, and found nothing remarkable. Or do you mean specifcally that it's not "fun" to fire miniguns while a (different) known performance issue is in effect? This is my test on the miniguns: (At the start some maneuvers with part of city in view while firing guns, thereafter stabilized view with intermittent salvoes of a couple seconds.) If it is the miniguns themselves that cause the problem for you, please try a lower graphics configuration, or PM me and we can see if we can figure out what the problem is.

The Su-24 didn't do a low-speed pass. The video with the 25's (two of them) were low-speed passes.

From what I understand (I've been out of the loop for a few years, DCS stole my gaming hours :P ) it's not "just" a Titan. It's a one-off series. Like the "Impoc" (Or Apocalypse battleship, Imperial Issue.) Unique items where the value in part is in their hardcoded rarity. (And yes, CCP will actually make models for ships that will be ultra-rare in the sense of there being anything between 1 and 10 of them in the entire game - EVER... Usually as part of an event, like a prize in their e-sports league.) But given that I've been away for a while, I can't be sure.

You need to read up on EVE economy. Basically: You pay sub fees per month. You can also purchase what is called a "PLEX", "Pilot License EXtension". The PLEX can be traded in-game. So if you are good at making money in-game, you don't pay anything to play the game. But since the PLEX costs real money, and the PLEX trades ingame for game money, there is an equivalence. Basically, X amount of ISK equals Y amount of PLEX equals Z amount of dollars. However, actually purchasing property directly from another player for money is actually "illegal". Spies and their effects are standard in EVE. I was in a corp that considered this the "fun" part of EVE. Infiltrate "zhe enemy" and get director access. Then start war. Then have FUN! Then make demands. If they say no, abscond with their assets and go "told you".
-
Well, depends. Last couple years that I played EVE I didn't pay anything in subscription fees - I bought PLEXEs from other players for ingame money. Money is easy when you have an industrial empire. :P Though there are cases where silly stuff has been lost that were indeed purchased for real money. But usually that was people that can drop 10k dollars on something the way I can buy a hot-dog, so... :P

Been there, done that. It was a long time ago, but during a drunken flight I manage to lose a ship worth more than the rest of my 40-man "corporation". I decided to "go AFK" while on autopilot to have a cigarette. Moral of the story? Don't go AFK. Also, don't smoke. Also, don't drink. But fortunately, while I was playing that game I was one of them wealthy bastards (made my "startup funds" daytrading "named loot" Pre-Shiva), so it wasn't long to get that stuff sorted out. :P Basically: no, I don't think he ruined his keyboard. If he's the type of person that flies that ship AT ALL, he'll be like "OMGLOL" and laugh at it on Ventrilo/TS with his mates. Basically, people that don't have that attitude never manage to "climb" far enough in that game to fly something like that anyhow. (Another accident I had was to sell a dreadnought, back when they were impressive to have, for 1.4 million ISK. Ooops. Oh, and when I bought it and was going to take delivery, I had it ransomed at a billion. Fun times. :D )

I only have my laptop with me, and no Office license for it. I can make charts for you on saturday if you like. :D

I'm always late to the party when I'm travelling, but... M2 Browning, 8x, 3400 rounds total. 45g per ball. 908m/s KE = mv^2*½ KE = 0.045 * 908 * 908 * ½ We find that Kinetic Energy at muzzle for one round is ~18 550 Joules. We will (falsely) assume that the bullet does NOT lose any KE during flight, and transfers it's energy purely as KE when hitting the tank (that is, no heat, no material deformation etcetera). We will further assume that ALL 3400 rounds are fired simultaneously, and ALL of them hit the tank. So the force imparted towards moving the tank is: 18 550 * 3400 = 63 071 496J (or ~63 Megajoules). Our target will be a typical german Panzerkampgfwagen 4. 25 tonnes, roughly, or 25000kg. Let's plug in the numbers we know and we get: 63 000 000 = 25 000 * x * x * ½ So let's just solve for X and we'll have found how fast we made this tank move! V = sq.root( 2 * 63 000 000 ) / 25 000 V = sq.root( 126 000 000 ) / 25 000 V = 11225 / 25 000 V = 0,449 Thus, assuming all bullets hit at muzzle velocity, do not deform nor impart heat onto the tank, and that the tank is on a frictionless surface (like floating in outer space, for example), this fictiional P-47 could make it move at a whopping half meter per second. Of course it's a bit of a cheat as I didn't include KE imparted by the P-47 itself onto the bullets, but since I allowed all bullets to be fired simultaneously... I think you'll find this acceptable? And of even greater importance is to consider this simple fact: each action has an equal and opposite reaction. A Panzerkampfwagen 4 weighs 25 tonnes. A P-47 weighs about 7.9 tonnes fully loaded. So what would happen to the P-47? V = sq.root( 2 * 63 000 000 ) / 7 900 V = 1,42 And remember that in THIS case, the force is enacted onto the plane BEFORE air resistance, so now we're sort of getting a kinda real number, while the force on the tank would have been lot less due to friction, heating, deformation etcetera etcetera. Basically: Any P-47 pilot that actually made a tank flip wouldn't live to tell the tale. He would be in orbit without a space suit. Well, not really, but whatever happens to the tank, at LEAST thrice that will happen to the plane. One way to have fun with this is to temporarily edit the weapon configuration files in DCS World, and then try firing your GAU-8 after you turned it's ammo into howitzer rounds. Let's say aiming is a problem when you do that... :D In other words: don't just believe what random people say. Do the maths. (And since I said that, someone will probably find some embarrasing mistake somewhere in my own maths... :D )

It's the simulator itself that is digital, since it's on a computer. Not (necessarily) the subject being simulated. ;) If you want digital combat, you can always play Darwinia... :D

Greetings, We do not ignore customer support. However it is correct that we are in a heavy load so there can sometimes be some delays, especially for more complex issues. A "half-dozen" people would actually be a significant portion of Eagle Dynamics staff. ED is not a big company. And also, it is hard to get people who know their way around these types of products for "minimum wage". Unfortunately, ED is a small company that does not have backing from a large publisher, which would normally be the party that handles customer support. Instead, we have to do this ourselves, while working in a niche market. It is unfortunate that this is currently causing some issues in customer support, but rest assured that we are working on solving this. As sobek mentioned, if you can describe the nature of your problem and/or supply a ticket number, I can take a look and hopefully assist you.

FC3 with Lockon install error -6002
EtherealN replied to LexiconG2's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Did I understand it correctly that it works in the production environment? What does this use? Win8 (not Win8.1)? As a response to a matter you brought up in your other thread: it is not ED's choice regarding requiring LOMAC for FC3. This is a contractual obligation we have towards Ubisoft, who owns LOMAC, and since FC series is an "expansion" (legally speaking) to that product, we must require LOMAC. -
One thread per issue, please.

FC3 with Lockon install error -6002
EtherealN replied to LexiconG2's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
As a quick note: Windows 8.1 is not released as an official product yet. Most likely you are running the "preview", which is code for "beta", and is not intended for a production environment. It's there for you to try it out, not for you to expect things to work properly. Have you tried with a supported operating system?
