There's a LOT of things that have gotten new models. MiG-31 comes to mind. Does this mean they are automatically new modules? No. You're making assumptions here, and you know what they say about assumptions. ;) But following your own logic, shouldn't you be out and about enthusiastically anticipating the DCS: MiG-31? :) Indeed, you mentioned that yourself in the post you linked to! New model! Russian! I read that thread you participated in, and noticed that you focused on Russian missiles only. Yes, I agree russian missiles are a bit gimped. But want to know something interesting? ALL missiles are a bit gimped right now, IMO. Unfortunate, but work is ongoing. Simulating missiles correctly with an AFM isn't easy, in case you wondered. Seriously, Matt gave you some pictures of a unit that is coming to DCS, and armed drone. He does not state whether it's NPC or a Module. It's something in the pipeline for DCS World. What is not to like about that? It wasn't EXACTLY what you wanted? Well, if that upsets you my suggestion would be that you cease reading the weekly updates. This way you can simulate there not being any weekly updates at all, and thus you'll be back to the good old days. :)

Hm, but I remember reading somthing about it actually not being the TIM that was the problem on Ivy. I know it was the first (and initially most likely suspect), but I have this vague memory of reading some results that said it wasn't. I don't remember where I read it though - you know anything conclusive about that controversy?

Spoiled indeed! I had so much trouble getting both sound AND mouse to work with Ultima VII. :D

Don't mistake "FPS" for being graphics only. Simulation runs in frames too. The graphics engine needs to know what is where before it can paint a picture. It gets this information from the simulation engine. ...and if you put a couple thousand new bodies requiring complete ballistic calculations into the environment... bad things can happen for the simulation engine. Hopefully there are optimizations that can be made though, even if it would be to simplify the ballistics involved.

I don't quite agree here. During the heyday of PC games, half a million units sold was actually pretty good. (I was a shareholder in DICE back then, and worked as a game reviewer for PC Gamer, so I saw multiple sides of this.) The big deal here in my opinion isn't so much a "decline" of PC Gaming, rather a decline in market share as consoles (being the easy-to-use entertainment systems you describe compared to PC's) became mainstream. So while there's no "decline" in the PC gaming market measured in "real dollars", there's been a decline compared to the overall gaming market - the market share. This has then had the effect that the traditionally "nerdy" PC Gamer market has become marginalized. (Especially when combined with how the demands have increased, where what used to be an "awesome" product as far as development complexity goes is now considered amateurish and not worth a moment's consideration even though it took way more work than the games we loved back when "the PC" was strong and dominant.) Think of it like the early days of automobiles; the luxury car market found itself "marginalized" after Ford, but not because people stopped purchasing luxury cars, rather because a lot of other "normal" people started buying cars, and the real money as far as automobiles are concerned was then no longer found in the luxury cars causing the industry overall to no longer pander to the luxury market. Another case in point is that it is WAY easier to solve PC game problems today than it was back in "the good old days". You don't even have to make boot disks anymore, and "plug and play" is actually somewhat more than the colloquial "plug and pray". :P But compared to consoles - yeah... The PC will always be too heterogenous in it's design to capture the majority, pretty much by definition. The very same freedom we love in building our machines is the same thing that dooms us in the marketplace compared to consoles. (And I do recall people like John Carmack praising the Xbox dev environment as the best he has ever used... When someone like him says that, it's a serious condemnation of the PC as a gaming platform. Sad, but true.)

Compare iGP-less Nehalems with iGP-equipped Sandies as far as TDP goes. I think the main problem is that people expected a leap similar to Nehalem->Sandie, though to be honest it's still too early to really judge that difference. My point being: TDP is not necessarily a link to performance.

It's a wiki, so no worries. :)

Is there any way ton install Blackshark2 upgrade

Because it is unable to check the validity of a key that is for a different product than itself. -

Which version of BS1 do you have? English DVD? Russian DVD? The former has almost exactly the same version of StarForce as all the other modules have, BS2 included, except that BS2 uses a slightly updated version that automatically reinstates the last activation after 30 days should you ever run out. In both cases they are driver-less and have less authority on your PC than any IM client. -
A while ago I got into a debate with a chemtrailer who had taken similar photos. He was sure they were specially targeting his area. (why else would they do them crazy turns?) He refused to accept my explanation of it being a pair of 39's doing tactical exercises... :D Military jets flying in a way different to commercial airliners apparently failed Occam's Razor compared to an international conspiracy involving all governments and all airlines to control his mind... :D

Yes, when releasing a fighter-oriented product missiles are out of scope... ;) -

MODS PLEASE READ! Request username change
EtherealN replied to 169th_Akula's topic in Forum and Site Issues
Hahah, good fortune there. :) Just please send me a PM on the 169th_Akula account confirming that you're the same person (just to be sure) and I'll make a note of it. It's a sort of unusual situation right here. :P I guess we could theoretically (with your permission) kill the "other" Akula account and then after that rename your other account, but I would have to talk to the admin first - I don't know if the system allows things like that. And since the admin has a lot of work, that would take a while. -

UPDATE: I did a quick check, and unfortunately the username Akula is already taken. -

Please send me a PM detailing this. Please note the PM needs to contain the full information, since I will have to forward it. It might take a while to action, since it requires manual action by the administrator. -
Do you REALLY want to know? :D

Please note that it says LOMAC _or_ FC2. FC2 also requires LOMAC (due to legal obligations to Ubisoft, who own LOMAC), so the installer is able to accept FC2 as an install condition since that itself would have already required LOMAC.
-
Ah, americans... ;) Just so you know: Ubisoft only offers this to US customers. If your IP is non-US, no-go. Why? Ask Ubisoft, I have no clue.

What is your ticket number(s)?
-
Also, please note that "invalid serial number" in multiplayer is not related to registry and activations at all. It means that one of the keys you have installed are associated to an account other than the one you are using to log into the master server. All keys need to be on the same account. Go here: http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/myserials.php You should see all keys you have there. Most likely you are missing your A-10C serial number - when it was released, it became assigned to the first username that used the key, not the user that purchased it (unless they are the same). In that case, simply log in to the account you used previously for multiplayer, and then navigate to that same page linked above and click to "unbind". It will then again be bound to the first user that uses it - so when you log in to multiplayer with your webshop account, it will be transferred to that one, and then you will be able to use it. More information here: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=91898

Right-click and save as. If the browser still does it (Internet Exploder?), simply rename it to the correct name after download. What is your ticket number?

What exacly is "waiting for dBlock"? Never heard of it and google only sent me to something music related (aside from the periodic table stuff). Could you take a screenshot to show this problem? Also, have you tried the DirectX9c and Microsoft C++ redist installers linked in the FAQs? (links in my signature, they are relevant fpr DCS World also)

Did I understand this right: You have licenses spread on two accounts. You have access to both accounts. Unbinding on one account does not work?
