  1. 1 patch ago. Spitfire not listed. P-51 definitely changed (cockpit light much weaker). Maybe the color palette gets fixed in a new patch. Someone did say that "a lot of planes palettes got screwed up" (words to effect). How does the COMMS menu not work? I can, as said, refuel / rearm / radio. Are we talking about the same thing? Make a track of the error. Make it a separate bug thread from palette error if it is a separate error.
  2. All the lamps work (Caucasus). There is a color palette error that makes them invisible in (most) angles / lightning conditions. Demonstrated for LG lamp here. The LG lamp works. The fuel lamp works. The Turbocharger lamp works. What of the Comms menu? Refuel / rearm works. Repair works. Radio ATC works. Push-to-Talk I didn't get to work but I'm not sure I did everything right. (Ed/Add Push to Talk key bind worked offline, so probably my eff up). Please someone confirm Push-to-Talk works?
  3. Found the battle-damaged-hook landing video [6:45].
  4. Just to add image of what it should / used to look like. Wood propeller. Joined DCS 2018. Never seen this prop damage until stumbling over . Does this graphic still exist just "mutated" by bugs?
  5. 2.5.6.50726 Open Beta. Seems fixed. Engine stops and prop blades nicely bent.
  6. "Fixed" as of last patch 2.5.6.50726 Open Beta. All four blades are removed (as opposed half the blades before it stopped working). Quotation marks because it's so ugly. I wish for the half broken blades as in the old 2016 version (see ) consistent with Spitfire IX wooden propeller.
  7. I go to ESC -> OPTIONS mode to adjust sound. Hitting arrow keys on volume bar still controls ailerons.
  8. Stennis is 58% larger than WW2 USS Wasp and obviously easier to land on. Some of the Hurricanes were prepared, the other planes not. Compatible? A flat surface is a flat surface when it comes to the actual landing.
  9. Reproduce: just brake and nose over. Result: Prop strike, engine damage. Prop blades visually intact, not removed like they used to be. Found old video by accident [2016]. Prop blade damage used to be more sophisticated. Half broken blades [ ] Not bothering making track (yet).
  10. This of 2016 shows Spitfire with partially broken prop blades. Don't think I ever seen that. Joined 2018. At 1:16 in vid. Also (Spitfire), prop blades no longer even removed on prop strike. Eng damaged though.
  11. No, it very much is an issue. Of course we should be able to do reasonable, directly aviation related, "stuff" within the environment. You suffer from a severe lack of imagination. In WW2 war time they didn't, in Norway evacuation, dozens of hookless tail draggers did land on 2/3 as large (*1) carriers by plan not accident. Hurricanes and Gladiators on HMS Glorious. Naval planes landed by battle damage or mistake hookless, on carriers. A Spitfire landed on USS Wasp. Moreover, it used to work, now it doesn't. Programmatically, the needed fix is minuscule in effort. They just need to distinguish tricycle plane from tail draggers. The algorithm seem to assume every plane is a tricycle and use the "nose wheel" as reference when placing. So add: "If taildragger then add one extra "nosewheel"-to-main-wheel-distance" from deck edge, or something. page 45 page 54 aided by sandbags in tail and lowered tire pressure page 54 page 69 page 75 I've seen youtube video of another bomber/torpedo [Avenger?] land hookless due battle damage. ~ *1) WW2 carriers are very closely 2/3 in size of the Stennis. USS Stennis (CV 74) 332.8 m, USS Wasp (CV 7) 209.7 m, HMS Glorious 220 meters.
  12. Still not working. Just me? Bug now 11 months old.

  14. Don't have F-16, just found it interesting.
  15. That should go on a wish list. Having ground crew "park" the plane ... well, isn't that what they do? The command mechanism is already done, just need an F8 crew command option.
  16. It does seem to be about wind. Landed on regular Stennis and then Super Carrier Roosevelt (same trip, jumped from one to the other). Both at 9 knots. Weathervane effect non detectable. Doesn't change I distinctly remember this effect not this pronounced before 2.5.6. Not insisting it's wrong, just different. The server gave me clipped wing instead of full wing. But I can't imagine that making a difference.
  17. DCS 2.5.6.50321 Open Beta (3 jun patch) Switch works as far as I can tell. I think there's an graphical error that can make it appear as if it isn't shining (depending on lighting inside cockpit). I saw this graphic error affecting the LG & the Supercharger lamp (probably fuel pressure also, didn't look to close). Toggling switch on the ground the LG and fuel pressure lamp goes on/off as they should. Supercharger lamp goes on at altitude as it should (can be switched on/off at altitude). The actual error Spun around on rwy to illustrate graphic error. At the end of track/film I toggle the switch. Watch LG lamp. It varies between intensely white and blackish (look closely while toggling end of track/film). Having a very weak system, I'm not sure I can exclude that my graphic card can't handle it properly. Attached mission so anyone can verify.Spit LG lamp debug.trk Spit LG lamp debug.miz
  18. Identical to Spitfire problem, except P-51 falls off deck. Update: not always. Tricycles planes are placed right, taildraggers are not. Move the latter a few meters inward. end significant info. ~ Obviously not top priority but recognize that people enjoy (reasonable) experiments within the environment. There's a reason the non-shooting server is consistently near the top in popularity. Also, repairing taildraggers on CV used to work, now less so. I've seen a youtube video of an TBD Avenger (?) with broken hook land using just brakes. Taildragger deck landings are reasonable.
  19. Tail dragging makes Warbirds "special" for take off / landings. There's also a difficulty step TF-51D to Spitfire or I-16. It is a muscle memory hand eye coordination thing that can/must be learned. I went TF-51D -> Spitfire -> I-16 and had great difficulty with each in order. Funny, going back from I-16 suddenly the Spitfire was very very easy and how did I ever have a problem with it? Also funny. Every single person who have flown the real things (not just Warbirds and including helicopters) agrees the real things are easier. No biofeedback, limited vision (VR significantly better or so I'm told), short table joystick are limitations of simulations.
  20. Have FC3 but what does "BUT NO BIN" mean? I have to delete/rename FC3/bin somewhere?
  21. That's exactly what I wrote. Including a link verifying the height as 57 feet. The reason I brought up wind gradient was to speculate there is no wind gradient on Carrier deck.
  22. I don't own Super Carrier. I observed debris on deck (guessing it came from static plane someone crashed into) for more than an hour (see pic). Shouldn't this "clean up" by itself? Broke Spitfire gear taxiing over it.
  23. At least at Carrier 25 knots. Maybe there's a technique to it but taxiing on deck can now only be done very gingerly, slowly, with constant braking. This will easily overheat the engine just trying to taxi to the rear. You have to "fight it" to make it turn around from into wind, to facing rearwards. Unless standing on brakes, if released it will swing back by itself from halfway like a ... weather-vane. I distinctly remember 2.5.5 (also carrier 25 knots) not acting like this at all (or very greatly reduced). Maybe it's true behavior. 25 knots = 46 km/h = 29 mph. That is not insignificant wind. In flying school (gliders) we're taught about the "wind gradient". Very shortly, this is the fact that wind speed drops very rapidly very close to ground (see pic), in my school height scale started 10 meter above ground (at top). Great importance for stall speed. If flying into 30 knots head wind at 10 meters with airplanes stall speed, you may stall and crash from 5 meter where wind speed has dropped to 15 knots and you're suddenly below stall speed. Nimitz class Carrier have 57 feet (17.4 meter) from sea level to deck. There's no trees, no hills, no grass, not much if any wind gradient effect I guess. Anyway, intuitively I believe wind is strong over deck so maybe this is correct. That is, corrected in 2.5.6. Need to try taxi on stationary CV.
  24. Now they glow when in shade. Also better visible when not in shade. Right or wrong (I like to think right), they're now readable to the extent I removed NAKED350's enhanced visibility mod. Good job I think.
  25. I don't own the Super Carrier (SC). Took a 260 nm trip in Aerobatics Server to SC to see if it was landable. It was, also refuel, rearm, repair works. Except same issue but with a twist. First repair it was placed on catapult with tail wheel on hookup spot (see pic) which is a little funny. Subsequent repair it was put on aft left elevator with the same issue, tail wheel outside deck. So one can expect to placed on catapult or any elevator at repair.
