Payload/Refuel Wizard doesn't work on Runway/Ramp
-0303- replied to Tempest's topic in Bugs and Problems
Dis-confirm. Can add bombs and rockets on ramp or on runway. -
Repair on Stennis, OMG are you kidding me?

"park", Is that an F8 crew command? On Stennis or only Supercarrier? -
Repair on Stennis, OMG are you kidding me?
-0303- replied to -0303-'s topic in DCS: Spitfire L.F. Mk. IX
Tried repair Su-33 on CV (repair on Stennis). Got placed beautifully (see image). But since crossing elevator lines makes Su-33 go kaboom, it did just that when trying to taxi out after repair. Otherwise repair worked fine. I'll expect F-14, F-18 to be placed the same. Also tried I-16 (repair on Stennis). Figured it's small enough to not stick tail out. Went kaboom the instant it was moved (just after down-counting from 170 sec). Hmmm ... need to try if I-16 also goes kaboom on repair on Kuznetsov. So effectively Su-33 and I-16 are now unrepairable on Stennis deck. Update: I-16 doesn't always explode & P-51 doesn't always fall overboard, both might get stuck though. I-16 can be repaired, dragged off deck edge & NOT being damaged after repair. Bf 109-K4 can be repaired & dragged off deck edge. -
A little amusing bug. On repair Spitfire gets moved to tail wheel outside deck position. Proposed cause: (Nose wheeled) carrier jets gets pushed back to main wheels near deck edge. Very short track: -Air start -Belly land -Repair Track 100% default installation, no mods (main folder repaired, forced new Saved_Games folder). ed/add. Though I can (once at least) start engine, pull fully onto deck and even take off, plane is damaged. It takes damage after every repair when rear fuselage hits deck.
-
Haven't tried them but interesting. P-51 have 3 different ammo loadouts, Bf109 have 5 loadouts.

Confirm, it's been like this "always". While on ground you can "talk" to ground crew directly, without radio I think is the idea.

Repair on Stennis, OMG are you kidding me?
-0303- replied to -0303-'s topic in DCS: Spitfire L.F. Mk. IX
Of course I meant fix it for the tail draggers only. Also, It was moved X, Y and rotated not just pushed back (but you probably meant that). Noted this in patch notes: Again, I think moving while repairing is a great idea. In real life, it would not be repaired where it crashed, blocking landing or blocking catapults. But it didn't move until after 170 seconds. For "realism" one could discuss insta-move or more realistic minimum 170 seconds to move the wreck. -
It takes a few more seconds, swinging back and forth before it stabilizes. Never seen a real Spitfire fuel gauge move so I dunno. Intuitively I think the previous behavior "felt" more correct. Changed at ... somewhere between the latest 2.5.5 versions and Open Beta 2.5.6.49314/

When repair starts, Spitfire is instantly moved and placed with tail outside the deck. It didn't roll over the side, so I could start the engine and pull it up. I then took off fine. It gets damaged every time fuselage hits deck though (meaning after finishing every repair). Ok, moving plane on repair is not a bad idea at all. Assuming no confusion with multiple planes. --><-- This close to working 100%. I assume it does work with F-18, F-14 and such, they just didn't check with non-carrier planes. Incredibly easy fix, just move the coordinate a few meters. I'll search bug section before I make a proper bug report.

There's no rear fuselage tank.

Signal pistol in the Spitfire, want it
-0303- replied to -0303-'s topic in DCS: Spitfire L.F. Mk. IX
Figured as much. Knew it was MH434 inspired. If a signal pistol makes sense, I want it ... Just saw another video where the Bf109 fired a flare. I think game play wise it would be useful. But again, only if it makes sense for this model of MkIX. -
Interview with Nick Grey about the P-47 and DCS
-0303- replied to BIGNEWY's topic in DCS: P-47 Thunderbolt
Good interview overall. Best single takeout for me: The commitment to accuracy. We'll never get a Tempest because there's no one still around who has flown it. -
Came here to comment on that. CEII stuck on grass Senaki, Caucasus. P-51, Spitfire no problem. Also always assumed heavy jets with small wheels get stuck and no warbird or other light planes should have a problem.

First ever "Login Fail". "DCS website not available". Words to effect "You can keep playing offline ... for 9 minutes" retrying, "8 minutes 45sec" and counting down.

Signal pistol in the Spitfire, want it
-0303- replied to -0303-'s topic in DCS: Spitfire L.F. Mk. IX
It has an Merlin 66 engine. I don't know what cockpit it should have. I just googled for Mark IX. -
In this Spitfire MkIX manual I found a lot of things. http://zenoswarbirdvideos.com/Images/spit/SPIT9MANUAL.pdf -Coffman starter -Landing lights, there's landing lights?! -slow running cut out (37) -built in signal pistol in tail (see 38, 39) want want want -Red generator malfunction light (40) and more. Disregarding all other things I would love to have the signal pistol (built into the tail). I saw Bf109 use signal flares in Grim Reaper video to mark a an ground area (historical use?). Obviously they could also be used to signal each other. Landing lights, only in some early version and then removed. "Red generator malfunction light" should be there? But the signal pistol, wouldn't that be useful and historically correct? Admittedly the interior looks a little different (the pitot, fuel pump & radiator switches isn't in the same place). pitot = ( 28 ) "pressure-head heater switch" fuel pump "booster pump" is "left side of cockpit" but not marked in this image. Probably next to ( 28 ) above (44) "Map case", is that triple switches?

"Two weeks" was a running joke in the late 90's with the developers of Warbirds.

DCS tells me P-51D Mustaing is not authorized every time I launch
-0303- replied to Stardrifter's topic in General Bugs
To remove P-51D, go to Module Manager, scroll down to P-51D and hit the trashcan. Guess you accidentally loaded it at 3-4 april when it was in free trial. What you described is exactly what it looks like after a module in free trial has expired. -

Russian or American helicopter?:) Seriously, multiple ppl complained about me landing while Russian on Stennis: I thought, "so you'd be fine with a Russian helicopter exploding on Stennis?" not expecting to finding it addressed already on revisiting this thread. Note, proper bug threads referenced in post #11 ( Su-33, A-10A, & Su-25T) of that thread.

Excuse me for wanting modeling that makes plain common sense. Su-33 exploding while taxiing over elevators is extremely common (select Stennis in Multiplayer (Hoggit or Aerobatics server) and just watch, tell newbies <they don't listen> enjoy). It is also acknowledged by ED and reported to developers. Bug is very specific for three FC3 planes (Su-33, A-10A, Su-25T (but not Su-25A): Taxiing over red/yellow elevator lines: [ALREADY REPORTED] Su-33 recoil/explode when taxiing over red/yellow elevator lines [ALREADY REPORTED]A-10A damage when taxiing over Stennis red/yellow elevator lines [ALREADY REPORTED]Su-25T nosewheel hits non-newtonian mud on Stennis elevators (read text upper left corner, excuse primitive Win 10 PHOTOS video editor) Brakes NEVER touched. Nose wheel as in mud, need to power up to slowly creep forward, nose wheel leaves red/yellow lines, free of "mud" Russian hospitality is just fine. I've landed the Spitfire & P-51 hundreds of times on Stennis (and taxied over elevators). Also I-16 and Bf109 a few times. This doesn't happen. Interestingly (or not) Su-25 does NOT have this problem (not bothered to try land any other FC3 on Carrier). I get that ED has bigger fish to fry, and even if they didn't, I get why FC3 planes gets low priority. It's not unreasonable I think to get the Su-33 (at least) fixed eventually. It's exploding is a bit of an annoyance. Three FC3 planes having a very similar specific issue should be a clue to something systematic.

Hmmm. Really (rhetorical)? Whenever 10-12 planes is landed on Stennis in DCS it seems extremely crowded, even if a number is smallish warbirds. I would have figured every plane could be stored in hangars. I also thought they put planes below going into heavy storms. How can they operate at all with like 50 planes on deck? I don't doubt you (much), just surprised. The catapults, the angled deck and the lifts all take up space where planes "shouldn't" be parked.

On a Discovery type documentary the US Navy had a table where they moved around painted nuts and bolts representing different planes. Mentioned was that an attempt with an electronic system had failed or at least was vastly inferior to a person doing it by hand.
