  1. For a year I haven't had flames from the Spitfire (though others have). Now, latest patches, amusingly it's a huge bonfire if you overprime it. Love it. So Spitfire works great with exhaust flames now. So came here to ask if anyone could get exhaust flames from the P-51? I've never seen it. Had p-51 since spring 2019.
  2. Right side a rocket can be loaded crowding the right drop tank. It can be fired too. Obviously a bug.
  3. Apologies, you are correct sir. It works as you said. I know what happened (I think). Month ago, I noticed and learned about conflicts. Went on a spree (quickly aborted) purging conflicts. Made erroneous assumption each command exists only in one place. Seemed neat and how it should be. During the spree I think I changed the UI layer "LShift+R" to "LAlt+R" because it conflicted with some plane. Hence, no more working "Restart mission". "Restart mission" doesn't exist in my favorite, the Spitfire. I gather the general rule is aircraft layer always has highest priority (checked first).
  4. I deleted every single player and every multiplayer track and still I get a ghost (?) replay when I in single player mission hit Quit -> fly again. Moreover it never enters the Choose plane menu as I expect it too. As it used to work. I really thought any replay would be stored under Saved Games but it seems to be somewhere else as I deleted every track I could find there. Storing it in main folder seems a bad idea. Specifically I damaged but not dead pilot plane, did Quit and Fly again, expecting a return to "select plane menu" to chose another plane and instead I get this mysterious replay starting immediately. The replay is delicate, landing I-16 on moving CV. The fact it works and I-16 does not end up in the drink may suggest the game does reset without giving me an option of plane selection.
  5. It never shows up in the aircraft layer because that's not where it lives. It's in General layer and not in any other layer. I have three layers a) aircraft layer (Spitfire) b) UI layer c) General layer There is no NS430 layer (because I never got NS430?). Choosing General and hitting LShift + R, line gets lit up as it should but it doesn't work while flying. Now I wonder if there is an "you can't do that" setting for the mission somewhere?
  6. Never seen that before. At first I though I had some controller problems. Not 100% verified as it's tricky to just damage ailerons and nothing else for the purpose of testing. But seen it happen with damaged ailerons, never seen it happen with undamaged ailerons.
  7. Used to be, starting with max RPM lever, it's maxes at 2200 no matter how throttle was manipulated. Only after RPM lever retarded and readvanced full again, you'd get 2300 rpm. I figured this was "braking a RPM lever wire" since quick start guide says How it works now. Advancing throttle full, it remains 2200 at zero speed. Somewhere below 100 km/h (before IAS needle start moving) it starts creeping towards 2300. Getting 2200 rpm standing still or very low speed. Either it simulates regulation or it's scripted. With 108 manifold ("E" WEP), standing still, it does go to 2300 even if manifold 91 (non WEP) doesn't. If there was a "brake wire" RPM max 2200 to 2300 it's broken now.
  8. The information exists, it is shown in single player so I thought _after landing_ there ought to be a way to get it.
  9. Is there any way to see list of damages after landing in multi player? In single player you'll get a list after mission end. Concrete example: Just had 109 tail wheel stuck out. This damage reduced speed at 1.4 ATA from 550 to 450 km/h. Seems a lot & I wonder if someting else was going on.
  10. Still not working. Does (Offline Mission) LShift+R Restart work for anyyone else?
  11. And today I saw a Mig29 land with hook. Where are these mods? Is there a Spitfire hook mod?
  12. Title. (Offline Mission) LShift+R Restart didn't work. Yesterday Win 10 updated to ver 2004. Have not played offline much, so it's also possible last patch is the cause. Does (Offline Mission) LShift+R Restart work for everyone else?
  13. In aerobatics server. Assume this is a mod. But I can't find the mod in USER FILES? https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/?set_filter=Y&arrFilter_pf%5Bfiletype%5D=5&arrFilter_pf%5Bgameversion%5D=&arrFilter_pf%5Bfilelang%5D=&arrFilter_pf%5Baircraft%5D=22&arrFilter_DATE_CREATE_1_DAYS_TO_BACK=&CREATED_BY=&sort_by_order=TIMESTAMP_X_DESC&set_filter=Filter
  14. To clarify: I mean, DCS may miss out the segment of the most hardcore flight simmers by not having large maps.
  15. Just hit F2, F3, F10 or any view key. Until a view key is hit the replay replays views during recording.
  16. I'm into DCS because I perceive it as the best flight modeling and the best aircraft systems modeling (and the best looking plane graphics cockpit and exteriors). Because of this I think DCS miss some clientele by not having large maps. I wouldn't ask DCS to make any civilian planes but by having large maps their would be opportunity for 3rd parties to offer civilian planes. And of course DCS could do a few semi civilians / fully civilian themselves. C-47 and Hercules for example, these would fit I imagine in a more complex dynamic campaign.
  17. IIRC sometimes the ignition timing is controlled mechanically (rpm centrifugal forces). Pretty sure that's not how the Merlin worked. Greg's videos, in one of these he describes it. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCynGrIaI5vsJQgHJAIp9oSg/videos
  18. Yes, duh ... I knew that (<--stoopid). You're right, running out battery would't be a problem.
  19. We have a good explanation for why the engine turns over. The interesting question is, should this be enough to keep flying? Remembering a "Greg"(?) youtube video, ignition for Merlin engine start moves the ignition point as to be suitable for low rpm (avoiding backfire I think). If the result is only a somewhat less powerful engine, then I guess it should keep flying. Is this ignition wholly dependent on battery? I know with motor vehicles you can get far before the battery runs out (at least 10 metric miles, don't ask how I know), but it will run out.
  20. Getting oil everywhere.
  21. The logic of repairs is probably scripted (lua files?) and hence "easy" to change. There's no need to optimize graphic performance of changing spawn point.
  22. Is this beautiful manual downloadable for free somewhere?
  23. Well, there's the obvious one not being able to optimize for fuel economy. Granted seldom an issue with P-51 ... Take a look at plate right side cockpit or look in manuals for different rpm, manifold settings.
  24. I thought horizon and everything seemed like in a whitish haze. Downgraded to 2.5.5.41962@openbeta (current 2.5.6.52437@openbeta). Took a picture same spot same angle, same time. Doesn't show horizon but sea definitely have become lighter. Didn't feel like an extended photo-safari getting multiple identical pics for comparison. Just one pic too see if there was a general color difference. There is. Now 2.5.6.52437@openbeta Old 2.5.5.41962@openbeta
  25. Lots of conflicts in lots of planes. Not a big deal once you know what it is. Does not inhibit any functionality besides the key bindings and this can be fixed when you know what is going on.
