A smidge off topic, in so much as only scuffs the surface of investigation you guys are following, I (in anticipation of the impending release if the p47 into DCS) just completed a 1/32 scale 47D model. What struck me was its size and bulk. It dwarfs a spitfire IX and modern Harrier II of same scale. Remarkable.

Rafale M I'd love the Rafale in DCS. I think in terms of interest it has more going for it than the Eurofighter, so long as it was the M. Carrier ops add extra value. It's a sexier looking Jet. (Not by much though). I'm happy we're getting one of the "Eurofighter" era jets.

You think ED gonna give ya some snax Scoooob.

High AOA stutters I9 9900k. 2080ti. 32gb @3200. SSD. 144HZ Monitor running 1080p In 2D not VR Using the F16 instant take off mission (Persian Gulf). The FPS drops are massively present. If you start some high aoa acrobatics over the runway I see frames drop from 120 to 30. Its jarring. For me many of the instant action missions suffer from infrequent pauses. But the F16 seems worst. So the system power is not helpful. You can't muscle your way past it. Great to know ED are aware.

I see the OP's point and agree. If you (in that screenshot) remove the needles, things change. You're now getting the "Low" from deck spotting and experience of correct sight picture until the lights appear. This will all be in some part resolved by LSO feedback (hopefully). Personally the biggest problem for me is the lights are often blocked by the left hud readouts. So other than winding down the hud brightness or moving my head around a lot I think the meatball needs to be intensified. I add that I'm also old(ish), use glasses and have an average 1080 monitor.

Am I being sensible to not download 2.5.6? Not a steam user. But it seems users are having real problems. I think I might give ED a little more time to sort this out.

Apache (even the A model) is what I'd selfishly want. More likely to be Tornado or F111.

Same problem with Tarawa SP cold starts for me. The only work around (at present) is to select "take off/start from runway". It gives an immersion breaking hot start on deck. I feel your pain dude.

The seat position problem was such that when looking around the cockpit in 2D or VR, the default felt as though you were sat forward of the ejection seat. You were perched on the edge. Looking back gave the feeling of looking at the seat back rather than over the shoulder. Resolving this with adjustments in fwd/back keys put your "body" in the seat but took you so far from the instruments and hud that the (I imagine) feeling of sitting in a cosy flying tank, gave way to laid back deck chair. The hud was well outside the limuts of the glass. This may be accurate. I've never sat in an a10.

Thanks man. Success achieved just using auto flaps. You were right......a little too much back stick or throttle and she'll unstick sgain real easy. Remarkable really. Ive been so used to flying patterns on full flap, throttle only, centred e bracket and AOA. You lose the skill of stick flying her in (sort of Viper like)

Pilots..... Just to expand this a little. Jello (of fighter pilot pod cast fame) recently released a YouTube video showing hornet descent through cloud to o/head break and landing. On touchdown he held the nose up momentarily (as we would for the viper). Before gently lowering nose to floor a few seconds later. Flying e bracket results in carrier style slapdown. Is it normal to hold nose up on land based hornet ops (is it even possible in DCS). Suggestions please.

Wow. Call me stupid.....but I would've thought dynamic weather would have been more system intensive. Switching off static now.

Wags stated its Persian Gulf.

One of the sexiest scout attack machines. Really very pleased this is coming to DCS. Verified purchase.

F/A18E/F Super Hornets block 1 and BLock 2 E/F ( lot 26)
Cyborg71 replied to Kev2go's topic in DCS Core Wish List
I would be very happy to see any variant of the Superhornet in dcs. I think pilots (irl) generally suggest that the legacy c models are more enjoyable to fly. For me the E/F & Growler just have an awesome look. Massive LEX's more fuel, more bombs, a bigger bad ass Navy Jet. Heatblurs Tomcat is increadible. And the recent Viper is shaping nicely. But the Hornet was a game changing arrival. I'd just love more of that, accepting that ED probably can't access the materials they'd need to do it justice (yet?) Roll on the Intruder... -
I would always choose cleaner fresher cockpit over worn. You can't beat that new car smell......

Would make a formation takeoff extremely dangerous ? I'm so glad you agree.... The Viper demo team at this years RIAT had a jet thet was literally falling apart. Didn't see that wobbling????

Brilliant reply. Exactly what I was looking for. Thats it then......sold. Thank you so much. This forum never ceases to amaze me just how helpful people can be.

Some pointers in general with the F-16 in mind :)
Cyborg71 replied to macedk's topic in DCS: F-16C Viper
Actually, theres something poetic about the way the prose is contructed. I like it. -
I've noticed something similar. I don't want to say its a bug, probably more likely my set up, but Viper tuning will be an ongoing work in progress. Having made similar checks to ensure controllers are operating correctly.......No wind. No turbulence. If I apply full foot brakes and hold, add 90% power, nws on, the nose drifts right whilst stationary. Release brakes.....dare not touch pedals until I can switch of nws. Generally as the speed builds I'm dancing on the rudders like its a Spitfire mk9 to fight the drift. Stick contols centred. No other inputs. Hey....that may be realistic.

Thanks. If purchased (almost definitely yes now) it will be F16 only. Are you able to offer how it (FSSB) translates a rapid series of inputs, say like a quick flick onto a wingtip and then immediate application of back stick pressure? Is it precise? Can further small roll and pull inputs be applied without wild oscillation occurring. (Part of that is dependent on skill and ability lol) I understand that its going to be more about small pressures on a non-moving (bending) stick, but how easy/natural do the inputs feel to apply. A learning curve compared to my current side mounted TMWH frankenstick no doubt. I have a seperate centre mounted TMWH with extension, aftermarket spring and hornet stick. This set up feels natural responsive and precise with the Hornet. Can you say the same of the FSSB and Viper? Bit wordy. Sorry and thanks in advance.

Thanks buddy.

Very helpful. Thank you. The price is not totally restrictive. But I certainly want to feel as though FSSB R3 lighting enhances the viper experience. As described, I've been a little clever with the TMWH to get an approximation, but it still feels clumsy and disconnected. What I'm trying to establish is if the FSSB gives that "Wooo yeah now that feels more like a viper" (precise and snappy?) as opposed to "Yep I'm flying a viper with a short A10 sidestick" Cheers

Any real viper drivers or SME's out there who can speak with experience about the realsimulator fssbr3 ligting stick. Even dudes with real viper ground sim time. Does it's input and response correlate well with the DCS viper in sim vs irl. I am fighting hard the urge of paying 499 euros for this item but would appreciate some feedback thats relevant to viper flying only. For context, I currently use TMWH as a sidestick with a firmer aftermarket spring. I have some curves set up in the DCS controllers menu that allow me to create something approximate to the force response input. Thus I get full control inputs off about 3/4inch stick deflection. I have to "roll play" a little to simulate genuine viper controls. Twitchy but the best at the moment. In advance, thank you.
