Thanks a lot Lion for your detailed answer! I only was able to test your proposals very quickly but I ll test it again today. Yes, I know that (just to give you an idea what I know and what obviously not) Nothing? Well when I use trim although during Im not in a stable flight, my copter will drift around, won't he? I tried to do the following yesterday: Reduced FFB in BS settings to 50%. I think this was a good hint. Should be the right way to go. Took off, pitched forward to gain speed and lined up with the horizon as good as possible without the use of the rudder. Then I clicked trim, the reduced FFB disappears for a split second (stick falls 1-2mm in the direction I did steered the joystick handle towards) and when I relase trim and then the stick itself, the heli does not fly forwards. He goes up and quite strong to the right (stick was pressed slightly to the left before trimming). Isn't he supposed to fly fowards and at least roughly straight ahead? But this doesn't happen.... he tries to some kind of bank/roll/yaw to the right, so I start steering left again. Pressing trim again doesn't solve it. I just can try to steer less left than necessary short before the trim, so that the input isn't trimmed so much to the right. This can't be the way it should be like. Unintented movement is one of the problems I was thinking about before. That's why I really understand your point here. Reduced it to 50%. Didn't get why I should swap axis though... I thought swapping axis is for changing/correcting the +/- direction (like throttle axis as collective) According to your avice I didn't use it yesterday but trimming was frustrating like always. One thing that comes to mind is, that I could set up a (bigger) deadzone to my rudder. Maybe there's already a standby input in idle position of the hardware. I played tons of sims, action games, strategy games, tactics games in the last three decades but I think I never felt so uncomprehending like when it comes to the trimming topic in BS. Perhaps it hat something to do with, that Im still not fully aware of all those heading hold, turn to target and other autopilot features. I guess I should (again) have a look into those topics? On the other hand: Two friends of mine have the same problems and one of them is working on planes in real life and flys RC helicopters I trust you and I am committed.... so I ll keep on trying Good to hear :) We put a lot of heartblood into our merged stick ^^

You mean I should use trim more often and things will get better? So far I found the more often I used trim, the worse it gets - until I press trim reset again. I guess I don't get you right. You talk FFB in the Black Shark Option? I ll give it a try! (can't reduce it in windows - don't have a sidewinder software for Win 7) really? the uncommon stick position feels really uncomfortable and beside that my brain does not accept the fact, that the center is somewhere else I guess. But If you say it's just a matter of time? ... Perhaps Id get used to the non-ffb based trim system faster? I dont get that either. Doesn't seem to be my day. You speak of FFB setting for the MS FFB2 itself. The settings in BS to be even more precise? Still don't see the advantage of it. Why don't I need trim when playing without FFB? Sorry for being so stupid... at least I feel like right now

I want to re-install BS over my current BS Installation to see if this is going to fix my menu grafics bug which is starting to freak me out. Will this mess with my activation so I better deactivate BS first?
-
Same like last week: AI disabled: white menu and flickering AI standard: white menu and flickering AI advanced: BS doesn't start at all (tells me something about lua stack corrupted.. widgetteam.cpp and stuff...)
-
Im still using the 9.1 CCC under Win 7 64 because Im not able to install an older one. Game works fine but I still have the white menu glitch combined with flickering (menus only; so just a 2D problem). Anyone here running Win 7 64 with X1950XTX? I ll also try to reinstall BS - it won't deactivate, right?

The first things I can think of: Total Game Control http://www.digitaltransforms.com/index.html Pinnacle Game Proifler http://www.pinnaclegameprofiler.com/ Perhaps even Joy2Key? Probably some more show up in 2, 3 well done google searches for words like joystick emulation, joystick tool etc... I don't know if those tools suit your needs and I only used joy2key myself in another context but perhaps these links contain something usefull for you... maybe just because they lead you to other tools. Update: Another Joy Tool I once used (for my PS2 Controller as Keyboardemulation) Xpadder http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/System-Miscellaneous/Xpadder.shtml

Why not use a third party joystick mapping tool?

Saitek X36 and/or MS FFB2 users running Vista or Win7
Bisch replied to Bisch's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Everything's there. No need for a driver for me. Only if I like to have programming software I would have to try Saitek Tools, Joystick Tools or 3rd Party Tools for Saitek. But so far I don't have a need for programming my joystick outside of Software. Played Black Shark and Arma only on Win7 so far though. Wasn't playing at the weekend. So extensive playing, X36 and MS FFB use under Win 7 will be within the next days. I ll report in if there are any new cognitions -
Pfew... thank god I don't seem to be as dumb as I feared first. Same problem for others. Well, I also can chose between MS FFB2 + Rudder Pedals or MS FFB2 and Saitek Rudder Throttle (X35T aka X36 here). However, even if Id release the axis throttle when pressing T I don't think I would be enough to quickly press only. Id need half a second or more I guess. I already have problems to trim the MS FFB2. When pressing quickly it seems like I slightly move the stick even farther to the respective direction because of the sudden loss of the opposing FFB-force resulting in some kind of "over-trim" Perhaps I should use the MS FFB2 with forces to center because it doesn't feel intuitive to have the center far from phyiscall center. It's difficult to predict the right amount of steering if you are already starting to steer near a corner. But without sidewinder software I don't know how to get those forces back on Windows 64 bit Beta. As I only noticed little advantages from trimming (although most guides claim it to be mantadory and used permantley; perhaps I ll discover more of them in the future) while having massive problems with them (at least me) I won't use it until I find really good hints or the general re-design of this feature

82% is way too low for BS - but too high for action mode

I guess the MFT (multi-function table ^^) is provided by IKEA defense system, isn't it? ;) But Im curious what kind of TV you have there. LCD? Plasma? LED? Im interessted in abusing a TV as TFT too

Saitek X36 and/or MS FFB2 users running Vista or Win7
Bisch replied to Bisch's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Update: When I got BS I had: Win XP 32 AMD X2 4800 (2,4) ATI X1950XTX 2 GB RAM (667) TrackIR 3 + Vec Expansion MS FFB2 Saitek X36 Saitek Rudder Pedals 20 FPS during automatic start prodedure Now I have: Win 7 Beta 64 AMD X2 6000+ (3,1) ATI X1950XTX (still to be replaced) 6 GB RAM (667) TrackIR 3 + Vec Expansion MS FFB2 Saitek X36 Saitek Rudder Pedals Affinity Tool 31 FPS during automatic start prodedure So, FPS improved because I can now use Affinity Tool. More important, the FPS increase brought me finally to a "fluent" level. Ruddar Pedals: work X36: works (no Saitek or 3rd party driver installed so far, no programming tool neither) MS FFB2: works (still Force Feedback, still correct Force Feedback in BS, meaning stick can be re-centered off physical center, althoug no Sidewinder or 3rd party driver or tool is installed) - as a bonus side effect I don't lose FFB anymore when ALT Tabbing (!). This is really great. It hasn't been a problem in BS as trim ("T") reinitialised FFB but perhaps it's going to work in other games too. Would be great. TrackIR 3: works concerning BS Win 7 was a full success. -
remember that you can bind slew shkval to two rotaries (like the rotaries on throttles of HOTAS systems) allowing different movement speeds of skval slew and fast changes of the general direction. I use both rotary knobs on my X35T (throttle of X36) and sometimes additional the "binary" movement (; , . etc..) of the shkval mapped to the D pad of my throttle when I just need an additional milimeter before I lock.

Well, disabling AI doesnt work, installing the Vista 8.12 drivers as well as win7 64 bit beta drivers makes even more problems (very often already on the desktop). The ATI 8.12 hotfix driver doesn't even install... Current config: ATI X1950XTX under Windows 7 64 bit Beta. Right now with Catalyst 9.1 as I can play at least and don't have already resolution problems on desktop

You missed something: I DID use deactivation but one time it didn't work (although done according to the steps explained on the SF page) and one time the re-activation including re-activation key took one from my ACTIVATION numbers. A third time I had to activate two times in a row because the first activation didnt work properly. Didn't change anything to hard- or software. Win 7 install and new HDD was the same step by the way. And I completley disagree when you say, that I should plan my upgrades better. The HDD was a gift and the new grafics card I ll get will be an additional unexpected (!) gift. I don't think I have to subordinate my plans of upgrading or changing my system to Black Shark.... or Star Force to be more precise. Starforce sucks and annoys customers just because Black Shark is a great program made be great developers won't make me overlook this fact. Actually I even convinced two friends to buy BS too and appeased them when the got angry about SF in BS. But I changed my mind. Id still recommend BS but I wouldn't trivialise SF anymore like I did.

Congrats mangaroca! I envy you and hope there's no need for it anymore when my 4850 comes ;)
-
Great! Thanks mate! Then Im going to install 8.12 when back home this evening. Before that I ll try this Win 7 Beta driver from http://support.ati.com/ics/support/default.asp?deptID=894&task=knowledge&questionID=39069 (altough my 1950 isn't mentioned)
-
as usual meaning you still have the problem or BS runs (again) as expected?
-
Hi mangacora! I have (had) almost the same system. Same CPU, same ATI but with 512MB and same RAM. I only had 20-25 FPS max during Ka50 automatic starting process. Looking around and stuff dropped FPS to around 15 or even lower All this with lowest settings but high resolution (1650x1050) (non-native resolutions suck imho) Now I have a 2x3,1GHZ which gave me a little boost. But I still can't run it smoothly with medium settings. It's almost smooth with low settings. So I wonder which resolution you have. I think you re very well off if you can run it smoothly on your system, especially with slightly higher settings than low if I got you right (going to replace my 1950 by an 4850 today or tomorrow)

According to what I ve heard BS is going to be released on Steam in the future. After two hardware upgrades and installing Win 7 beta two times I already lost 4 activations. I really tried hard to save more buy saving the registry key and using the deactivation / re-activation (which never really worked, although I did what starforce says on it's page). I ll keep on upgrading my computer this spring and summer and I don't want to run out of activations in 2010. I know it's an sophisticated licence / publishing isssue to allow online customers to activate their BS on steam as soon as it's available there, but I really beg to ED do everything possible to give us this opportunity. Same applies for future DCS modules.
-
hmm ok... I ll reinstall both until it works. [ Also I already lost 4 activations because of the crappy starforce system (failed deactivations for switching to Win7, system forgeting BS activation after reinstalling it etc) Please give us steam acitvation feature in the future, I want to make my licence save finally ]

Thanks for the hint tronso! Never seen this A.I. feature before! Disabled it - didnt help unfortunalty. However.. something interessting: setting it to advanced just for another attempt made the lauchner not starting at all. So looks like you brought me close to the core of the problem,
-
Same problem here since I switched to Windows 7 64bit today. I have an ATI X1950XTX (will get 4850 tomorrow I hope)

After reading so many tutorials, FAQs and watching the producers note, we (3 buddies) are still messing around with trimming. As far as I got you need to use trim function on a FFB stick in another way than without (should be mentioned in prod. note :police: ) I took the automatic return to center forces from MS FFB2 settings and now it works the way it should I guess. However, trimming doesn't work that good that I use it..... I fly completley without trimming. Is it really a problem? However.... my peddals aren't FFB controllers of course and it looks like I need to use them like non-ffb-sticks should be used: Press T - release rudder pedals - Release T ... this all while trying to keep my FFB2 in position although you suddenly lose FFB resistance. This should apply to all people who use an FFB stick as most of them wont have FFB on the rudder axis I guess. So.... should I really do it the way I described or am I wrong. Perhaps I forgot something important....

Saitek X36 and/or MS FFB2 users running Vista or Win7
Bisch replied to Bisch's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Thanks mate! So up to 8GB. After lunch I ll go and get 2x2048 Kingston PC2 5300. Right now, I have 2x1024 Kingston PC2 5300 in my rig. 6 GB should be enough ^^ True! Makes decision between Win7 32 and Win7 64 easier. Already installed Win7 64 yesterday after I have lost patience. I didn't try BS because I want to make the final install on my new HDD (should come today too) but at least all my controllers were detected and work. MS FFB2, Saitek X36 and Saitek Rudder Pedals. Of course I have no programming software, but this should be now problem. You always have 3rd party tools as last resort. The FFB worries me more... SquidgyBsaid it doesn't cause nay trouble but I really miss the possibilities of editing the FFB-Settings. I wonder if the FFB2 will really do everything I want in every circumstance.
