  1. Interesting, I must have a magic 8700k, my CPU frame time is always 1/2 to 1/3 of my GPU frame time. It ever exceeds it and I'm always 50-70fps no reprojection. This is using the settings I posted earlier. I have complex multiplayer missions with over a hundred units actively fighting and run a dedicated server install hosting the missions along with my client install on the same system. I don't see why someone with the same setup can't get similar results, then again, it is DCS! lol Good luck! Curious if you actually see a big difference, I'm actually considering a 13th gen just due to age of my system and future 4090 prospects.
  2. Our systems are nearly identical (sans RAM difference), we could compare the same mission/track with the same settings and see if you get a similar result. I'm really happy with my settings and think most people would be happy with them. Let's see if your system performs as well as it should. That said, the RAM could very well be the difference, I recall that making a noticeable difference for me when I upgrade from 16-32GB.
  3. Upgrading the CPU isn't going to matter much, maybe a few percent. I hate to see you go down the path many of us have chasing performance with buying upgrades and wasting thousands of dollars. The 3090 you have is the best thing you could have done. The 24GB VRAM helps make up for the poorly written app which can easily max out the 8-12GB cards. Now just tune and try to find a happy place with what you can get out of it. Save yourself the disappointment of spending $1-2K+ for 2-3% more performance. I'd go as far as saying if you're going to dump that much upgrading the CPU you'd be better off going for the 4090 and selling the 3090....if you could actually get a 4090 $#@!:#
  4. I have a similar setup, 8700k @ 5Ghz all cores all the time, 32GB ram, and M.2 NVME drives, also an EVGA 3090 Kingpin. I found a great config with good frame rates 50-60+ Here are my settings you might consider trying... I also followed a lot of the other BIOS/OS/etc items in this thread: My 3090 Settings for my G2 (2.7.11) - Page 40 - Virtual Reality - ED Forums (dcs.world) null null
  5. I have a 3090, i7@5Ghz, 32MB RAM, HP G2. I saw a ~2ms GPU frame time increase with my existing settings/missions. I fly with a friend that has a 3080ti and we both saw an increase in VRAM usage of about 1-2GB. While I have a lot of headroom with VRAM, he does not and so he saw some huge impacts to performance and some missions became unplayable, >50% loss in FPS. Everything is still playable for me though. Certain missions and conditions do crash to desktop now though, where they didn't before.... weird stuff like if I destroy a certain train in one my of missions I get a CTD, but doesn't happen with any of the other trains?!?!? It seems to me the variance in impact to performance depends on if your settings are close to a threshold like VRAM usage. If you step over that line, you get a gigantic impact. If you happen to have some headroom you might not see as much, like in my case. I maximized my settings for high FPS, whereas my buddy maximized for quality at a certain minimum acceptable FPS. I only saw a slight drop in FPS, but he became unplayable because he exceeded his VRAM requirement for his settings. All this heat wasted whining, what a waste. A wise company would find a way to harness this energy and put it to good use.
  6. Thanks Flappie, yep, I read all those earlier, seems like everyone had a different resolution, not much definitive about an exact cause or solution I could follow. I did some logical tshooting with my buddy and we may have found the problem, but I want to test for another week to make sure. We were big fans of trying to use Voice Chat and have been working really hard to do what we can to make it work and stable, the last update killed it 100% though, and also my issue here at the same time became totally intolerable, crashing 9/10 times trying to respawn. I don't know why I didn't see the two being related, because the VC window was totally hanging randomly. Today we moved to using Discord instead and disabled VC and I just played for a few hours without a single crash. I will continue to test a bit longer before I'm sure about it though.
  7. Yea, weird, I didn't get prompted for 21H2 for some reason. I'm installing it. My friend with the same issue has 21H2 so I'm not sure this will help, but I do want to be on the latest always. Sorry, not a personal attack on your suggestion, thanks for the input, really! The reasons I believe it is a software problem are: -I can reproduce it on the fly by doing a very specific action in the game, and it's clear there is an issue in the game when sometimes it does recover strangely. -My friend I fly with has the exact same problem with a totally different computer system. -I don't get this error or crash in any other game/program -I don't get the error in single player on the same exact mission. I'm happy to be proven wrong, just give me the steps to try...
  8. My windows update shows as up to date, what is saying it's not? I searched a lot about this GPU error and it comes up in a lot of places and is often caused by software not hardware issues.
  9. After crashing/ejecting from an aircraft in a multiplayer game I try to respawn to an aircraft in the air and randomly after clicking "Fly" the screen goes black with lots of wind noises and DCS dies shortly thereafter, sometimes SteamVR crashes too, but only rarely. Sometimes the screen comes back and it's as if the pilot is swinging wildly all over the sky outside the plane and then snaps back into it. No crashes in single player at all, even on the same mission. Multiplayer hosted directly or dedicated server, same result. I've had the issue for some time but seems to be getting worse after latest releases. Happens more than 50% of the time now. EventViewer screenshot and logs attached. On latest OB Full clean/repair done, no mods All Drivers updated 8700k 32GB RAM RTX3090 Win10 Pro, super clean with not much else running. null dcs.log-20220824-152546.zip
  10. No VPN. BTW, after this last update today now it's 100% broken instead of intermittently broken. I can only hear myself in the Mic Test.
  11. I have a TM Warthog throttle, I'd like to use a 3pos switch for the Dogfight switch, but only the two outer positions register. Has anyone edited the input LUA to add this functionality? I'd imagine you'd want to add a 3rd possibility, both the outer switch positions being off would be the third position I'm looking for, ie "Center".
  12. I noticed since an update to the F-5 a little while back my afterburner now randomly doesn't come on. The throttles show being all the way forward in the display, so not a controller thing. I try moving the throttles slow or fast, same thing. Seems like about 20-30% of the time they won't come on when the throttle is advanced to AB. If I go to idle and back they sometimes start working again. Interestingly enough, when I go full AB on the throttles and it's acting up my fuel flow still goes way up like they're on, but no sound of AB, no speed increase, and no flames out back. Any ideas? I did a full long DCS repair, no change.
  13. Hello, I'm not here to complain, but to help add constructive feedback to improve things and help identify and fix issues. A friend and I play online in multiplayer DCS. I always host the game. When he joins, in that moment, my mic test slider stops working and we cannot hear each other. This happens randomly when he joins, some days it happens quite often, other days it seldom happens. I have port forwarded all suggested ports on my router. We have bought purposeful USB headsets, we've made sure our connection to the Internet is fast, < 13ms. We have both fully wiped and reinstalled DCS, with no difference. We are using the current version of OB. Let me know if I can provide anything to help identify the issue, I'm happy to help. Thanks, ave-
  14. Hi guys, My friend and I purchased and have been trying to use SSA to get haptic feedback through 6 transducers in DCS. We are having very little luck. I think maybe there is a misunderstanding about what the software can do, please confirm if you can.... Does SSA only provide 6 channels output using the "sound module" for enhancing existing game sounds only and not for specific game driven events like gear/prop/missles/etc? I think this is the case! There does not seem to be a way to get event driven signals to more than 2 transducers. Major bummer if that's the case! Let me know if we're missing something here. Thanks!
  15. Hi Andre, Sorry if this is answered elsewhere, I have not been able to find it. For DCS, will the simshaker app provide a separate sound for left and right events in DCS? For example, can I get a shaking in my left side for a left engine out, etc? Thanks for your time!
  16. Just an observation that I noted the other day which relates to this... I have a 3090 and my friend has a 3080ti and we always get about the same performance for our settings(almost identical). We were in multiplayer in Nevada where I had put one of every aircraft and helo in DCS on the Las Vegas International airport. My VRAM immediately maxed out for the first time ever in DCS. I was getting 20-30 FPS with pretty high settings and 80% SS with plenty of stuttering, but playable barely. My friend was getting single digit FPS and it was not playable at all. That's the first time we ever had a difference between our card's performance in DCS and it seemed to involve the amount of VRAM we had. I intend to do more testing to see what aircraft combos/counts bring up the VRAM, but it seems to be a thing in certain extreme cases for sure.
  17. I'm finding it really difficult to do certain things when Jester isn't there to magically switch everything how it needs to be. This means in multiplayer mode with two human players in the plane. I've hit rock bottom trying to figure out how to get the WCS to show any targets in TWS Auto mode at all. Is there some kind of documentation or tutorial which takes you step by step on how to get targets setup on the WCS in TWS Auto?
  18. My experience mirrored exactly what you mentioned here. I also sent mine back the same day.
  19. I updated weeks ago, no issues. Prior to installing 1903+steam update I had similar issues and had to look at the sky for about the first 15-20sec of flying until the frame rate "settled" then it would run ok to look around again. I don't get that anymore after the updates.
  20. Happy to have the F-16 again! Woohoo!! I felt it handled with a lot of character, meaning it has specific handling characteristics compared to the other planes in the sim. I'm used to the F-18, F-15, and F-5. I think the F-18 has made me a little aft-stick happy, and so probably why I felt a little out of sync with the F-16 at first with roll and high AoA. It was quirky to me for some reason. Just more character I guess. In a podcast about the F-18, real pilots divulged the AoA for the F-16 as 25degrees, with a manual override switch to go further. Interesting. They confirmed it does not do as high of AoA as say the F-18 (35 degrees), because the single tail on the F-16 gets shadowed by the fuselage. All very interesting. Happy flying! Here is the podcast, hopefully linked to the info I quoted from it above....
  21. My friend with a 1070 was able to get decent FPS, but he had a 4770k CPU running at 4.8Ghz OC'd. He also had 32GB ram. What is your PD in Steam and in DCS?
  22. LOL, man that would suck! These had a blue sticky plastic stuck on the lenses which I removed. I assumed there was nothing more than that... let me know if I missed it though! I don't think I did. The lenses look very quality, quite clear.
  23. SDE and weird rainbow effect on the sides of things...
  24. Broken connector. Wire broken off.
