resolved Canopy reflections disabled but show in canopy glare
FoxTwo posted a topic in Bugs and Problems
I have canopy reflections disabled in the special options, however the 'glare' that appears in the canopy still has the baked reflections in the texture. -
External (F2) view mouse look snapping back
FoxTwo replied to FoxTwo's topic in View and Spotting Bugs
Neither... it's happening in the UH-1H apparently DCS felt the need to bind every single random axis on every joystick I own to view pan controls. I think I've cleared it up but what a mess. -
Virpil VPC MongoosT-50CM2 Base issue w/ TM cougar grip
FoxTwo replied to tsohg2701's topic in VIRPIL Controls
Did you reconfigure the base in the virpil VPC configuration tool with it set to the thrustmaster stick? -
AI flight lead flies like he's drunk. It is almost - and I say that because I did finish successfully - BUT ALMOST COMPLETELY IMPOSSIBLE TO FLY FORMATION WITH HIM and man is it just an hour and a half of frustration. He will dive 150 feet and LOVES to hug the deck and bleed energy like nobody's business. He also loves to turn into my flight path. This mission is a mess, I get that this is old and probably hasn't been touched in a decade but can someone from ED look at your campaign files and fix them? Please? AI pathing is a mess on this one, probably others. I'm not looking forward to it if this is how it's going to be for the rest of the campaign.

When I go to the F2 view in VR, I can't pan my mouse to look around the exterior of the aircraft or change zoom level. This is happening to some degree in 2D/flat panel mode as well. If I move my mouse wildly, the camera will move but it snaps back the instant I stop moving the mouse. If I go into the controls settings interface (not making any changes, just opening the interface) and then escape back to the game, the mouse pan/zoom works normally.

What are the overall dimension of the ICP? Position of the mounting holes?

Can't hear a thing he's saying because the audio is being routed to the same speakers as the engine/rotors. Which I guess would be just like if he unplugged his headset in real life. However he's wearing one and I should probably be able to hear what he's saying.

In reference to this post on the hpreverb subreddit: Steam's OpenVR isn't really that open and is very likely contributing to several performance issues experienced by people with high end hardware while playing DCS in VR.

[Official] SimShaker for Aviators
FoxTwo replied to f4l0's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Working great with the A-4E-C mod, thanks! -
Mesh shaders are not DX12 exclusive. Vulkan has support for them as well. There are other APIs as well like variable rate shading that if properly leveraged could probably get DCS banging against the refresh rate of modern headsets without the need for motion interpolation. But I think it's unlikely for DCS to go from barely leveraging DX11 support to using bleeding edge vulkan apis. It's more likely we're going to get something that is mostly a direct port of the current engine to the new framework which has some built in efficiencies. At least at the beginning. It would be nice if there was just a team that worked on the graphics engine exclusively and could roll out progressive updates to it from patch to patch. Maybe there will be, who knows.

Issue was on my end, DCS decided to forget where to send headset audio output.

Nevermind, I think it's a sound module thing. The output for afterburner seems really low when the audio is set to stereo but it's fine in mono. That said, the A-4E-C 2.0/EFM beta isn't currently working. https://github.com/heclak/community-a4e-c/releases/tag/v2.0.0-beta-1 -

Yeah sorry I wasn't clear. I'm on the SSA beta (2.1.7.0 at the moment), and for the last two updates going into AB in the F-18 results in the engine rumble basically just... stopping. DCS openbeta too, if that matters. I just tried it again, forget what I said... it does appear to be technically working. But compared to the engine rumble/beat it's so high frequency that it feels like you're transitioning from pavement to smooth glass in a car. There's not a lot of felt effect in afterburner, at least with a transducer attached to a chair. -

I'm not getting any effects in afterburner in the F-18 using the latest beta. -
Again, they'll leverage features as they see fit once the new engine is out. I don't expect any development cycles to be put into incremental updates for marginal performance benefits for a niche set of users.
-
This is a DX11 based game engine with roots that go back to DX9. Let's see what happens when they move to vulkan, and what sorts of features they can leverage to increase performance. Until then, don't expect any development time to be put into random new GPU features or emerging tech.

Sudden pitch down - effect from the auto trim?
FoxTwo replied to Fri13's topic in Controller Questions and Bugs
I'm glad that the issue is fixed for Rooster. It was an odd one to track down for sure. But the real question is, why does game flight mode cause the F/A-18C to pitch down after takeoff on this particular mission? That seems like a bug to me. -

Since I love a good mystery I've been poking around with your track file some more. According to the options file, you have game/easy flight mode enabled. Try disabling that in the global options. There may be a bug, somehow, with this mission or loadout and game flight mode. -
New clouds are bringing a new weather system so I'd wait before breaking out the pitchforks.

Just in case you still have the problem post repair, here's a track of my takeoff for the same mission. https://1drv.ms/u/s!Ai9-upzOQAxagu1JdYzPnwiXSTlAcQ?e=nyET8w -
Sudden pitch down - effect from the auto trim?
FoxTwo replied to Fri13's topic in Controller Questions and Bugs
Well I can confirm that it does what you say it's doing. I've tried playing it back and taking control at certain points, either way it's going right into the drink. Have you tried running a repair on your DCS install? Just to be clear - I've flew this mission yesterday and took off just fine, but there's clearly something going wrong with your mission. -
I was playing around with it on one of the training servers and launched a harpoon after targeting a ship with SEA mode. You have to have a designated target to switch to R/BL mode.

Sudden pitch down - effect from the auto trim?
FoxTwo replied to Fri13's topic in Controller Questions and Bugs
I just tested mission eight. Olive from 3 and I took 4. Hands completely off the stick, trim to 16. Gear up flaps up once I cleared the deck, out of burner at the same time. No issue, aircraft pitched up if anything. If you have a track post it to onedrive or google drive.
