  1. I went for a real refurb as my 2nd hand cougar was showing signs of old age; 6 x micriswitches, 3 x pots + brackets, 2 x trigger springs so i can mod the 2-stage, 2 speedbrake guides as mine is broken. The whole lot came to £20 delivered. Pretty cheap really. Now i want a new H4. they are only about £2 + £5 delivery so you might as well get quite a few parts as the delivery is fixed. Time to get my soldering iron out this weekend!
  2. came today. 25 days! now i know
  3. Well, 1 hour of Silent Hunter 5 was enough for me to mutter, "what a load of……", put the DVD on my “maybe in a year when enough patches and proper documentation come out”, shelf, and to move my sleeping bag back into this queue. UBI Romania must be getting shafted from the producers over release dates as SH5 is in even more of a mess than 3 or 4 ever were. The manual/pamphlet is a joke and the .pdf is just the pamphlet!! No wonder ED told UBI to, “Shov*@[EDIT]….kindly remove your towel from my deckchair good chap”. Anyway I digress. In the words of the learned B.Simpson; Are we there yet? Are we there yet? Are we there yet? ps. take your time ED, get it right, this is a friendly and orderly queue. Notice the lack of pitchforks and burning torches, (they are all on the UBI forums now).
  4. Has anyone ever come across this weird bug where the zoom function will flip back to standard view when you let go of the switch, (i.e. I have Hat2 L-R for zoom/unzoom). It makes life in the A-10 difficult and impossible in the SU-25T with all the SHKVAL fiddling. Cougar Control panel doesn’t see any strange inputs when I let go the hat and I haven’t got any advanced flags in the hat in the macro, just; H2L /O unzoom_mfd (example to show lack of additional “/” switches there) And in the macro file…… unzoom_mfd - I will try mapping the zoom to smoothing other than ‘–‘ and’ =’ and make sure I clear any other controller inputs but I couldn’t see any.
  5. Guys Now and again I like to relax and not blow stuff up, (occasionally). I have a new Cougar and simply can't be bothered to start a new profile in Foxy. Cougarworld profile links are all dead. Anybody got one i can borrow / edit? Otherwise its a day long slog. Cheers
  6. Cheers guys. You weren’t kidding about the missiles slow speed. Whilst manually lasing the target I again ran into its guns. Override worked though. Back to the A-10 for me for now. Vikhr missile employment is very fiddly and suits KA-50 more, where you can hang behind a hill and fart about with the targeting. When travelling towards targets @ 400kph you don’t have much time to battle the wandering Shkval. I guess the AFM in DCS: A-10 will reveal whether realistic Maverick employment is as fiddly as SU-25T Shkval/Vikhr use in FC. Call me a wuss.:joystick:
  7. We are talking about the big KH-29L missiles here not a little Vikhr, but I will try, as, in this mission the magical fog is preventing any sort of lock so I will give it a go, (although i can see perfectly the ship in the SHKVAL). If this is realistic, any seaborne invasion of Russia would be helped massively by a light fog!
  8. Can you launch without "authorisation"? i will give it a go later. cheers
  9. Guys, I am going insane here. Mission #2. Two warships, foggy conditions. I simply cannot get a SHKVAL lock no matter what. I have tried; · Different target size gates (50,55,60) and a million others · Night time SHKVAL (no heat signatures for some reason, possibly fog) · Anti-radiation missiles with fantasmagoria can’t lock. Ships must be using passive IR missiles · Command wingman to “attack naval targets”. Nothing happens I know my missiles (KH29T / L) have at least 10k standoff but I can’t get any sort of SHKVAL lock further out than 2-3 km and by that time I am dead meat. I have set up a training mission with loads of ships and can easily target so either the campaign mission is borked or the fog is interfering even though I have a perfect SHKVAL image. Cheers Coolts (unwilling Russian kamikaze pilot):pilotfly:
  10. No worries. You might want to look at getting a better gfx card cooler if you plan to overclock. They are about £15 or so, and can make a difference.
  11. dont panic just yet... MS retire support based on SP# installed. So, as long as you update Vista to latest service pack you will be fine for a good while yet. Basically, if you phone up MS with an issue with Vista and they say "what service pack are you on" and you say, "what service pack?" you'd better have a gold card ready. Fair enough really, all these xp holdouts...........:D:D
  12. at a glance i would concur with Boulund. have you clocked your gfx card? does this only affect LOMAC?
  13. hmmm. I will check the inputs in the game settings. linear in the cougar control panel. Cheers guys
  14. I'm just wondering whether, as the autopilots in the SU-25T essentially set the trim for themselves, maybe it’s best to go one way or the other. Either trim or autopilot. After all with 6 or whatever autopilot modes you have essentially got macros to any trimming you would ever want · hold attitude · fly level · hold bank · hold alt baro · hold alt radar · cancel autopilot (and trim?) …. and to manually trim as well will just confuse things leading to more problems as there isn’t a reset trim option
  15. From Greek lomac website (admin "sisifos") Cheers Ike4fin for pointing me at this one. "There's 6 new Auto-pilot modes for the Su-25T. The plane does auto-pilot by trimming itself with trim tabs to match the mode required. On exiting most auto-pilot modes, the trimming is bound to be incorrect and you'll flop about. In the other planes you could cancel trim with Ctrl-T. But for the Su-25T, you can get the correct trimming by choosing the Emergency leveling mode(ALT-3), which puts you level and straight, and then exiting auto-pilot altogether with ALT-9 or A.Overall, when you use auto-pilot once, you have to use it forever more." That clears that up. I need to map some more autopilot modes to the stick. :joystick:
  16. <Viper> does that alter the trim? I've been fighting the SU-25T instant action scenario for days now and am flailing about all over the place after a fire any ordnance. If I trim to attempt to stabilize after firing an IR missile, (the weight imbalance immediately sends the wings over), then hit "emergency levelling", then need to shallow dive to strafe, (therefore cancel "emergency levelling"), will my previous trim send me out of control again? My ham fisted fix to this ATM is to simply fire two A-A missiles at a time to maintain balance. A waste of Roubles! I guess I am asking whether to avoid aileron trim if using "emergency levelling mode"
  17. Gaaa! Ive been battling with my HOTAS for the last half hour trying to get the trim reset to work on this!
  18. hmmm…. I had that same issue, (tearing on BS & LOMAC), no matter what I did. It works now though. I don’t therefore think it had anything to do with LOMAC or BS but rather flakey NVIDIA control panel. Over the course of a 6 month period I must have updated drivers 3 or 4 times. I noticed it works now, (before I prepared this post), and i have done nothing differently apart from disabling UAC but I’m not saying that was a factor. My best guess is that the newest nvidia drivers / control panel do work when setting application specific profiles. Make sure you do set per app and make sure the app appears on the list. Failing that, do a complete uninstall / reinstall of the nvidia drivers and all associated apps. Good luck ps. I'm not using nHancer or Rivatuner as the latter does'nt yet work with the latest Nvidia drivers, but as LOMAC is so CPU dependant anyway the gfx card isnt so much of an issue, (assuming you have a powerful card).
  19. Sorry to butt in guys, but the llights......mean neutral trim right?
  20. Compared to the basic FM planes this thing needs bucket loads of trim, but that’s okay, because trimming is free and legal! Can someone tell me the meaning of the 3 trim lights (green) in the bottom centre of the cockpits [below]. I noticed them last night. Are they pitch, roll & rudder trim indicators?
  21. Got my Cougar profile sorted. Got the hang of the SHKVAL, (its more twitchy in FC than BS, (BS seems easier to lock). The plane shudders when you are too slow / fast / turning too quickly, so easy to see what i am doing wrong, but, hey, the airframe its not getting repaired out of my pocket so 'shudder all you like fat boy'! [in a southern drawl] Ricardo's HD pits are very nice as well.
  22. That worked! What a dipstick! I can fly again!:pilotfly: Now to create a BS Cougar profile, (fast forward a week.......). Cheers.
  23. SOLD: One advance copy of DCS:A-10
  24. how long will it take to get up there (30k)? You might have to take a shaver and a copy of "war and peace".
  25. I use this profile for BS & Cougar http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=33583 Having the control axis view open in flight, I click to trim, (I can hear the in-game 'click'), and release the stick. The virtual stick returns to centre in the viewer when it should stay put. It must be a glitch as I was getting pretty good with the Evo, (cable ties for springs, etc). Anyway, I have hi-jacked my own thread here!
