  1. Please don't take offense to this but I think that we should let the big dogs worry about their business model and cash flow. As a consumer, it's not my bag to worry about how they proceed, which currently is fine IMHO. And given the latest rough waters going on with ED and another dev that I won't mention, (as it's none of my business) I can see the legalities involved with such a monumental venture. In a perfect world, it sounds like a great idea, but reality says otherwise. The DCS user base gets bigger all the time. Let's face it; DCS is the big dog in town right now for aerial combat. DCS and ED are a very well-known company thanks to YouTube content creators and such. They have no problem getting new players here. There has always been a gulf between civil flight simulators and Milsim. I do not see that changing anytime soon! The likes of civil simulators (which I also have) have always been hesitant about Military operations. The stuff that's allowed in such as fighters for example, only allow you to barrel roll and fly under bridges and such. The stuff that they have now, will not allow weapons. This is a complex problem that is not an easy fix. Combat sims will for the foreseeable future always be niche. Though I doubt at this point you can really call it niche.
  2. Land- based aircraft have hooks for land- based arresting gear, in the case of an emergency. The undercarriage for those aircraft i.e. the F-16, F-15C and Strike Eagle were never meant for carrier operations. Carrier aircraft have beefier landing gear to withstand the shock of a carrier landing.
  3. Is there a reason that my Displaylink manager would look like this? I'm not sure what is keeping my MFD's from connecting to SimAppPro.
  4. I don't have another PC.
  5. I followed your tutorial. Had it up on the big screen while I followed on my computer. When I go to the Set game screen, there is no number such as 007 in your tutorial. None of my screens show up at all. PS: I also have a big black box that says "ID:" on my main screen now.
  6. Extend these displays is checked. Right now, I have them connected to a powered hub. I connected them to my tower at first but had the same result.
  7. I have ad nauseum. Same results! I'm left wondering if it is a software thing on my end. Nothing that I have in the Display manager shows up in the Displaylink manager nor SimAppPro. The MFD's are there and working. I can manipulate the buttons, just cannot get them to work in game. Thank you BTW!
  8. Hi, My monitor is not showing in the Displaylink manager. The 2 MFD's are but they say "disconnected." I've downloaded the current drivers. Still nothing. In SimAppPro, I am stuck at the "set game screen" step as nothing will show there at all. I'm not sure what is going on! At this point, I'm desperate for some help!
  9. Hello all. I am sorry for not replying sooner, I had a business trip for work that took me away from my computer and out of town. I'm thinking that the "Set game screen" and "DisplayLink manager have something to do with my problems. Neither are showing that anything is hooked up. My main monitor is not showing in the Displaylink manager and nothing at all shows in the SimAppPro "Set game screen" page. I've downloaded all drivers, the "check info about DCS" is good. I have no idea the problem.
  10. I understand. I have plugged it all back in. I have the Display link manager as well. It shows my MFD's but says that they are disconnected yet I have them connected. Could this be an issue? Simapp pro is saying check if options.lua exist. DCS is pointed to the right path. I'm not sure where to go from there. All drivers are current.
  11. At the end where it says "game Peripheral Display" there should be a tab "MFD Display." According to Youtube setup videos, it should be there. Unless Winwing changed something. Thank you for replying, I am having a hell of a time setting this up.
  12. Not sure where or how to post this but I have Sim app pro for my Winwing stuff. I have never seen the MFD display tab. I do get the warnings, however. The thing is, I just purchased the MFD's and now I cannot get them to show properly. Everything online say that I need that MFD tab yet, there isn't one. I have uninstalled and reinstalled Sim app pro several times. Please help!
  13. How did you get the MFD tab to show up in Simapppro? I'm having the same issues. The MFD's show up in the control's options in DCS, as well as they appear in simapppro themselves, but I still have no way to make them stop displaying my desktop. Also, the light on the back of my MFD's is purple. I'm lost!
  14. Just pointing out facts is all. I was attempting to clear up the realism claim. Yes, the lens is mobile, (I've towed it around the airfield on shore duty) but not for the uses in this post. The USAF doesn't use it! The carrier landing box is also needed if FCLP's are the goal. DCS needs a true Naval Air Station, but I won't hold my breath. Also to consider, anytime the arresting gear is used, it shuts down the runway for a time. It is not like the carrier gear that retracts upon activation from the Arresting Gear Officer (AGO). If my memory serves, the gear has to be replaced and put back into battery. A crew has to be on station to free the hook from said gear. And then the aircraft gets a tow back to the line. Reality is greater than fiction!
  15. Hate to be that guy but...the only problem with your statement is that using it the way you guys want, is not realism. The E-28 land based arresting gear is only used for emergencies, not makeshift airfields. They get knocked out of battery quite often IRL by departing aircraft. US Air Force bases use them for emergencies but, no lens. As soon as you use it for short field ops, you just stepped into never-never land! Nellis and Anderson could definitely use these (arresting gear) and with that, neither of the bases that we have in DCS use a lens for FCLP's or anything else!
  16. Thank you all and thanks @Nealius. Got that manual now! Wow, the A-10 Demo is a bonus for me.
  17. I have no doubt these things will get fixed. Updates come in time. EA is always EA. It took me up until late last year into now to take the Viper seriously. It had a not-so-great start in 2019, but I waited. Along with my Winwing F-16EX setup, she's awesome now IMHO, but I digress. I expect the same for this Terrain. DCS is always changing, and it is software. ED fixes and changes things as time goes on. It's never going to be perfect and for sure, right out of the gate and nor do I expect it to be. I weighed the pros and cons before I purchased the map. YouTube vids and these forums helped. I'm a glass half full dude, I'll watch the map mature with time. The way the rage fest was hooting and hollering on some channels, you'd think the map cost millions and is an utter disappointment. I was surprised it was only $55 US!
  18. Spot on! Ban is a bit extreme. People are free to use their funds on anything they like, even if it is a regretful purchase. Now, getting emotional when you KNEW it was EA is something else. ED gives ample warnings about EA, always has! I feel ya with everything else said though. The map will get better with time.
  19. Anyone here know the Viper demo profile flown? I've been wanting to put my Winwing F-16 MSFFB to work. Thanks in advance.
  20. Thank you! I have that and fly it occasionally. As a retired Navy guy, I have been smitten with the Viper. The Hornet and Tomcat are my jam, but the Viper is awesome! There is other 121st liveries but the authors appear to have abandoned them as they are not updated. I just was hoping for more, I guess. Oh well!
  21. Bottom line up front: You cannot please everyone, nor should you try! IMHO, ED does all that they can but there will ALWAYS be those that can and will find a way to complain.
