FC2 crash when cycle trough weapons
ShadowVonChadwick replied to HiJack's topic in Bugs and Problems
Fullscreen = true is the problem with AG switching (even without AGMs) need better then 100fps. Note: I can not get above 60 fps with "fullscreen = false" even with Vsnyc disabled. (ATI 4850x2 10.2 driver) With Fullscreen = true Easy 100fps+ and reproduce crash in sim.exe. UI not affected. Shad -
DCS Black Shark Tweak Guide Alpha Version
ShadowVonChadwick replied to Frazer's topic in DCS Modding
Hi Bucic A bit vague about "optimizations". Do you mean BS/FC2 .cfg/lau setting or GPU inhouse setting. For me on ATI with FC2 ["textures"] = 2, my Anisotropic Filtering setting make a BIG difference. EXP -
Saving an MP mission??
ShadowVonChadwick replied to Breakshot's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
HI Moa Nice to hear so keep us posted with progress, im shore many would be interested. Kind regards .....Shad -
I got from standard 2.8GHz to 3.2 on standard voltage easy. Maxed out at 3.8 at + 0.1 volt increase, not stable enough & I dont like running over 1.4volts. (More voltage didnt help much) I now runn @ 3.3 in summer conditions (Australia is hot climate) with + 0.05 volts and winter 3.5/3.6 with + 0.075volts. I am getting better cooler but only for summer conditions as I dont beleive above 3.7GHz is good for CPU and with the voltage needed will cause migration within the silicon. (its not a good conductor of heat) At 3.6 from 2.8 thats 28% overclock. Not as good as a Celeron 300A @ 450MHz but good enough for me Cheers ....Shad

Hi aviador..Ill try again with more detail.. I'm on Win7 64 with a pair of 4850s 10-2 drivers probably the same as yours. Dont change your desktop resolution if its at native rez for your LCD. If not set to native make it so. What is FXS ?? What is your screen native resolution? Mine is 1920x1200 so my desktop is set to same, i usualy run BS/FC2 at the same rez. Have you tried running BS/FC2 in window mode (a setting in BS/FC2 Options/Graphics theres a check box "Full Screen" make shore its UNCHECKED. Now in the RESOLUTION dropdown chose 1024x768. Hit ENTER if you cant see the OK button, Esc for CANCLE) The sim should restart within a "window" on your desk top. Can you now access the OK CANCEL buttons ???????????? If 2 works now try with RESOLUTION dropdown at your LCDs native Stay in Window mode for the next few items. As already mentioned "Disable Catalyst" try off, standard, advanced. Video card (GPU) setting as explained by Fahhh Run with AA low settings with "BOX" option or "Edge Detect" filter. Repeat 5 & 6 above but leave AA low (Level at 2 or 4) As already mentioned reinstall ATI driver. Change Win7 Aero Theme to clasic? Do I need to explain Windows themes ?? I haven't had any menu/UI problems with LockOn, BS or FC2 but I do with Free Falcon5 (Falcon4) and it uses openGL for its UI as BS does. (NO AA with low Catalyst AI helps Falcon) Hope some thing there helps......Shad

I went from a similar Athlon x2 CPU to a Phenom ll x3 720BE with 8Mg Cache, similar clock and found good fps benefit and it was cheep. And it OCed well from 2.8 to 3.3/3.5 summer/winter Go for any Phenom ll with 7/8 Mg level 3 cache. eg: PHENOM II X2 555/DUAL-CORE/3.2GHz/7MB CACHE/BLK ED or PHENOM II X4 Quad Core 955 Black Edition CPU, 3.2GHz (125W), 8MB Cache. Cheers you wont be dissapointed............Shad PS. Your GPU is minimal so dont tax it with to much AA (helps with stutter)

DCS Black Shark Tweak Guide Alpha Version
ShadowVonChadwick replied to Frazer's topic in DCS Modding
Thanks Frazer for your efforts. A few items you might want to look at for the next version. Note: I'm running a AMD Phenom ll x3 720 BE @ 3.3/3.5GHz Summer /winter. Two ATI 4850s Xfire 10.2 drivers. (Its a semi decent system). Testing done in FC2 but I also fly LoMac & BS on this boot item wither other games (FPS) on other OS install. ["full Screen"] = false, Everyone wants bigger screens, so no point of running BS windowed. There are even reports that BS windowed runs worse as in full screen mode. Anyway, put "full screen" at true. The only way I could enable Vsync & eliminate "tearing" is with Full Screen off. (Game set @ LCD native rez) Also helped with stutter slightly. ["visibRange"] = "High", We tweaked High, and so, select High here. Should be "scenes"= high far_clip = 80000: FC2 = 14000 in FC2 I use 10000/11000 as it delivers a realistic view distance ( below 100km for distant mountain rang ). PS I'm Mud Moving thus low alt OldLandNoise back = 10000; --change to 3000/40000 fixed ground texture missing/low-lod, middle distance bright/no detail ground texture on hill sides or between urban areas,(no/little fps cost). Bucic already covered "texture" settings. structures = {60, 6000}; Same for BS & FC2. 60-one variable for small structure/some boats/high detail rooftops fadin/popup (my current setting 55) save FPS in urban area & reduce near popups, 6000-Distance to start render large Sturctures (My setting 80000) reduce pop up in tree area & reduce transparency overall (cost FPS). trees = {1000, 9000}; I wanted more trees to cover low "lod" ground textures (tree haze/earlier fadin), set at 10000/11000 (cost some fps) With ATI cards low AA settings helped with "stutter" in busy areas. At high rez high AA not needed. Its hard to setup a test.miz to cover all conditions so tweaks should never be radical as the original DEV team knew what they were doing and gave us what I reckon was a good compromise covering a wide verity of Hard Ware configs. Most config settings we tweak are not linear, are interrelated and work together with hard coded parameters. My first objective of tweaking was to increase visual quality, less transparency and reduce pop ups with regard given to a realistic view distance with average atmospheric conditions. (More trees, texture detail and structures). And then refine these settings with regards to fps. Its clear fps is dependant on the number of "objects rendered", though not linear it is a relatively flat curve. Hence for most of us with decent GPUs "structures", "trees" & "objects" have greatest impact. (CPU limited). If i overclock 10% I get almost 10% in fps. This has not changed from the orginal release of Lomac Most people know this but it might be worth mentioning in next revision. Thought you might be interested & looking forward to your next guide Kind regards.......... Shad -
Saving an MP mission??
ShadowVonChadwick replied to Breakshot's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
From memory im shore LockOn would save position and render all destroyed units for next mission in home made campaign. Pity its not carried into its siblings. Would help carry the story. -
Hi aviador.. I'm on Win7 64 with a pair of 4850s 10-2 drivers probably the same as yours. A few quick questions What is your screen native resolution? Have you tried running in window mode with lower rez then in 1 above? Stay in Window mode for the next few items. As already mentioned "Disable Catalyst" try off, standard, advanced. Run with AA low settings with "BOX" option or "Edge Detect" filter. Repeat 4 & 5 above but leave AA low (Level at 2 or 4) As already mentioned reinstall ATI driver. Change Win7 Aero Theme to clasic? There are some new drivers out but be aware they are now in two parts. Basic driver set + reference file for driver/game "under the hood" settings. Haven't seen the need to try them yet I haven't had any menu/UI problems with LockOn, BS or FC2 but I do with Free Falcon5 (Falcon4) and it uses openGL for its UI as BS does. (NO AA with low Catalyst AI helps Falcon) Hope some thing there helps......Shad

FC2 crash when cycle trough weapons
ShadowVonChadwick replied to HiJack's topic in Bugs and Problems
I turned of fullscreen to get rid of tearing textures & reduce stutter. Fullscreen also disables Vsync. Can also reproduce weapons cycle crash with FS on (need to cycle fast multiple times though). No error message just ends mission back to normal UI Hi AA settings seem to make things worse also. (ATI 4850 x 2) Cheers -
Quick question before i buy.
ShadowVonChadwick replied to Fiddlestx's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
I have never heard of this myself ?? You only need the disc for one install & then back in the draw. But they are selling a package I believe relatively cheap. Some one might have a definite answer for you. PS their Selling LockOn Gold + FC in store here..... Did find this .... http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=9506 Cheers -
LOMAC:FS Static Objects not appearing
ShadowVonChadwick replied to CPRobertson1's topic in User Created Missions General
I have faint memories of seeing this behaviour before, try moving them off position slightly. -
Give them too much time they will just find more bugs to write in!!

Ground vehicle = green box (?)
ShadowVonChadwick replied to CVFSGoran_VU's topic in Bugs and Problems
I have noticed many objects seem to have "internal" variables that are used along with the parameters we play with in config files. eg: small buildings, roofs of large buildings, some ships docked at ports. They fade in or popup at different distances. -
Ground vehicle = green box (?)
ShadowVonChadwick replied to CVFSGoran_VU's topic in Bugs and Problems
Probably lodMult = 1.5; - as it says for military vehicles, with 0.5 their a box beyond 400m, at 1.5 its over 4km they change. No practial FPS Check you file -
Triggerable waypoints PLEASE. Would go a long way to wards making dynamic missions in my opinion

Just made a few quick missions and could not get it to work. Even tried using in campainge structor Maybe used start mission after an intro ??

Ha and its a color screen. Theres a new input device out soon too, I think they call it a mice or mouse or something like that. PS is that you at work??
