  1. Yep, I did. Super nice guy. We chatted for a bit. It was nice to put a face to a name. If it was up to us, we'd have solved the drama right then and there. But its not up to us....
  2. I don't know if ED has come out and said the A-29 module was the source of the IP breach or if that was just implied. But RB has said that the A-29 was little more than "vaporware" with no FM and very little 3D modeling, if any, It was certainly not even flyable at all. And RB said they removed ALL A-29 work several months ago. So if that IS the actual root cause of ED's issue with RB, its no longer a factor and hasn't been for a while. I recall in an internal RB team conversation with Larry, RB's main Dev WELL before any of this drama ever broke out - I asked if I could fly the A-29 to test it out and see if I could help out on some of the development as the Strike Eagle was well on its way to being great and I had run out of things to SME on. He laughed and said there is nothing there to test. Its a "concept" at this point. So if the A-29 is ED's Raison d'etre of this dispute, its no longer a factor. So there must be something else going on.
  3. No, my understanding is RB was aware there was "A" dispute. Over what, I am not privy to. But there were communications in those early days/months and I would assume RB thought it was getting sorted out. As time went by with still no money and no resolution in sight, I can only assume they decided to pull the plug. As for the accusations of "Breach of IP", I've just learned new info that suggests its not as cut and dried as ED makes it out to be and it may go both ways in fact. We'll see. It reinforces my view that perhaps neither ED or RB's hands are completely clean on this and maybe they should just call it a draw and get on with it and Nick and Ron should just kiss and make up and go back to making sweet sweet money together.
  4. I don't think ANY company would stop working after not being paid for 2 months. That's not even a full quarter. Also, ps that ED themselves said they've withheld payment since the release due to the alleged issue. I think the fact that RB continued to work without pay at all for like 9-10 months by not only just doing Bug fixes but also adding new features Like JDAMs, TFR, etc, while this dispute was on-going is laudable. It means they fully expected the issue to get resolved quickly and everything would go back to normal.
  5. Exactly!!! "Understanding" doesn't pay the bills or feed your family.
  6. DAMMIT! How do you keep from embedding two posts together all the time?? Is it a time thing?
  7. My understanding is that RB alleges, and ED confirmed, that RB hasn't been paid since the Release - other than a token payment right before Ron's announcement. So we're ackshually more like 11 months now. If you want to get pedantic and go by payment is due by the end of the quarter - then it is pretty much right at 9 months of payments withheld since the F-15E release. What does RB have to do with what the community "thought" were the reasons for the delay?? I don't recall anyone at RB bitching at ED for the delay back then. What "elements" sowed discontent?
  8. LOL. It was a minor delay and note it said "Not due to the module state". I guess by that logic, HB's F-4 release was a world ending catastrophe given how much longer it was delayed than the SE.
  9. You are misinformed. This has zero to do with an “unstable 3rd Party “. This has to do with a 3rd party who hasn’t been paid in a year and they can’t and won’t work for free. RB wants desperately to get back to work and and continue to give their customers great products. Regardless of the reason for this drama, IMHO, it would have been better if ED had continued to pay RB so they could keep working while they dealt with whatever issue Ed and RB we’re squabbling about. But I don’t know ANY of you that would work for free for a year. Well I guess in fairness HB sucked it up without getting paid for a year or more. But I think they either had deeper pockets or other revenue streams. Unfortunately RB couldn’t hold out that long. But this has NOTHING to do with “stability” as a dev shop causing the issue. Agree with that.
  10. Because ED has been upfront that payment to RB has been withheld. Where have you been this whole time??
  11. Why isn't the same standard also applied to ED then? They've accused RB of an IP breach. By your standard, they should "open the exact facts" to prove it to all of us. But they won't. And for good reason. Both parties have to work through the legal process and posting those sorts of "Facts" doesn't do anyone any good right now. Perhaps if it becomes obvious there is no resolution in sight and never will be - then one or both parties will lay out their evidence to make the case that they were telling the truth. I'm ps RB is more than happy to do that if this all goes Tango Uniform. But we're not there quite yet.
  12. Please get back on topic. Thanks!
  13. I'm in! I used to be a pretty ruthless Crud player. Lets DO IT!
  14. Yeah, it does look very civie sim centric. But I think there is a little bit there on the combat side. Be interesting to see what's new coming out in the VR world and new HOTAS and such.
  15. Ok, I'll try to drop by today or tomorrow. Can you buy tix at the gate or do you have to pre-register? Wait, @BIGNEWY and 9L, you guys are both there??? No wonder ED is falling apart.... I'm kidding!!
  16. @NineLine, I just looked at the floorplan and didn't see an ED booth. Are you guys sharing with someone else? I may bounce down there later this afternoon and look around.
  17. Flight sim expo in Vegas??? How did I know know about this??? If I can get tickets, I'll come say hi. I assume you have a DCS booth there.
  18. Galinette said he would be more than glad to come back once he gets paid for the work he's done. So that's at least promising news.
  19. I'm NOT an RB spokesperson, but RB "management" (i.e. more than one RB person in the know) told me this directly. And I have no reason to doubt its veracity. I was told that RB formally requested the modules be taken down several weeks ago until this matter gets resolved. I'm sure you can confirm it with your management if you'd like. I'm honestly not trying to stir up anything.... just trying to dispel rumors or incorrect assumptions from people who have asked legit questions. If the owner/developer of a product requests that the seller stop selling their product, I can't imagine there's a legal hurdle to comply with that request if the owner of the product doesn't want you to sell it. Especially if they are seeing zero $$ of the revenues from that sale. AFNAV is not, but you'd be surprised what the rest of us are privy to.
  20. Its not fake. He did say that.
  21. I agree. I think the lack of SE in the video is likely deliberate, but also a prudent move on ED's part unless things were about to get resolved soon.
  22. That's not necessarily true. My understanding is that as the DLLs become more out of sync and not updated - that they potentially will look like corrupted or infected files to AV programs.
  23. I'm sorry, that's Bull! This stuff does NOT happen "all the time". In the 5 years i've been playing DCS, I've never once: Had to trick F*k my computer system date to get an aspect of the module to work. Had my AV quarantine files nor had to exclude entire directories from the AV scan Yes modules break all the time and get fixed. But No updates are coming to fix this until the dispute gets resolved. That could be a while as 9L and BN said several times. So I think it's unconscionable to continue to sell it in the store to new users that are most likely completely unaware of the drama. And I do not buy at all that its a legal barrier. Razbam is the "owner" of the module. The only reason ED might not be legally unable to remove it or at least suspend it is if the original Dev/owner doesn't want it to be so. But RB has specifically formally requested via their lawyers to ED lawyers to please remove their modules from the store until this issue is resolved.
