  1. This certainly fixed a mystery problem for me. My cyclic seemed to occasionally have a mind of its own. All sorted now!
  2. I can hardly wait for the patch. If the AP fix works as I think it will we should hear a lot fewer complaints and confusion over using trim. Of course the people that insist the AP works correctly now may complain about having to relearn trimming the KA50.
  3. I sure hope the soon to be released patch does not ruin all the fine user built missions that have been made for BS.
  4. Don't know how I missed this poll earlier, but anyway my rig runs BS no sweat and I get about 40-60 FPS. Intel Q6600 @ 3.1 GHz 4 GB Corsair Dominator 8800GTX Vista Ultimate 32 GA-P35-DQ6 (etc.)
  5. In the Saitek profile editor scroll down to the throttle setup area. Hold the mouse pointer over the throttle setup box and you will notice a small right arrow in the upper right of the throttle box. If you left click on that arrow a list will drop down. By default, there will be a check mark on 'Fallback' or 'Unprogrammed' ( don't remember which ). You will want to change that to 'directional axis' by clicking on that selection. New command boxes will now appear in the throttle area for 'Throttle +' and 'Throttle -'. Now you can enter the key command (F in this case) in each of new command boxes. You will need to adjust the throttle sensitivity more or less depending on how noisy youre throttle quadrant is.
  6. This is very easy to do in the profile editor for my Saitek X-52 Pro and works very well.
  7. I see no difference in visual mods for BS and all the aftermarket visual enhancements for Microsoft Flight Simulator. If we had every thing we could possibly want in box at initial purchase BS might cost more like $149 instead of $49 and people would still want to mod it guaranteed.
  8. I think a lot of continued confusion remains because of the descrepancy between the way producer video notes #10 ( Understanding aircraft trim ) explains the use of trim in the BS with a non-ff stick and the way it is most often described on this forum. In the video, near the end, he says "by no means do you need to be holding down the trimmer button when you do any kind of maneuver", yet in this forum most advice says the correct way to trim is to hold the trim during maneuvers. As most of you know, unless you hold down the trimmer button while maneuvering, the KA-50 will fight you the whole way.
  9. I agree with PoleCat. Trackir is a solid product with scads of happy customers (me included) that are happy to put in a good word for a good product.
  10. I think it is because without FF the controls can out of sync and totally foobar. You can have the cyclic or rudder at full lock yet your joystick or pedals are perfectly centered. This can be very confusing for many people.
  11. This discussion seems so weird to me. Although I can see how some might get it confused, I always intuitively got it right from the first time I flew so many years ago. Right foot, right rudder, right turn. Left foot, left rudder, left turn. One way I might suggest to get accustomed to proper usage would be to load up Microsoft Flight Simulator and just taxi around an airport in a fixed wing of your choice.
  12. What I would like to know before I potentially foobar my setup by installing beta software, is there any real advantage to using ver 5 software with ver 4 hardware? My TrackIR works pretty flawless right now.
  13. X52 profiles are so quick, easy and fun to create I'll never understand why so many people ask others to do it for them. Besides what is intuitive for one person may look all wack to another. But, if you insist, here is mine. http://tinyurl.com/c4h43n
  14. That is a very good question. Also, will my old profiles and curves be directly transferable from the ver 4 software to ver 5?
  15. I upgraded from TrackIR3 to TrackIR4 and there was a noticeable improvement in tracking and field of veiw. I don't think I will regret missing out on TrackIR 5 because I have not had any problem with moving out of the FOV since upgrading and tracking has been extremely smooth. I am very satisfied with TrackIR 4.
  16. Dang, here I sit with a brand new TrackIR 4 unit! Oh well, I can't imagine the new unit being significantly better.
  17. In a perfect world yes, but I voted no. I would rather see a more active and detailed enemy AI.
  18. The Cachya demo video shows good performance with FSX so If you already own a web camera and get Cachya at the introductory price of $15 I suppose it is worth the risk if you don't already own TrackIR4 Pro. However, just based on specification, I expect Trackir4 Pro to out perform Cachya since Trackir 4 Pro's camera is rated at 120 FPS which gives extremely smooth tracking, while your typical web camera is running at one fourth that rate at 30 FPS.
  19. I really can't imagine smoothly flying and fighting with precise control in the BS without a decent HOTAS setup.
  20. I think I have finally figured it out. I think this is the most difficult and unusual aspect of learning to fly this bird as it seems so wrong at first. Thanks for your patience.
  21. As I said, maybe it is me, but I am trying to determine if the behaviour I am experiencing is correct. For instance lets say the helo is hovering or near hover at about 30 to 40 meters with autopilot on. I am facing approximately 30 degrees and decide to change the direction I am facing. I give easy right rudder and spin to a new heading. when I neutralize the rudder the KA-50 autopilot brings the helo back to the original heading of 30 every time. I thought the pilot input was supposed to override the autopilot. If I turn off heading hold I can change heading smoothly without fighting the autopilot, but I thought it was normally not permitted to turn off any autopilots.
  22. Please correct me if I am mistaken, but I don't believe we ever got an official clarification in this thread as to whether the proper use of the trim button is to press and hold during a heading change such as at a hover. For example I have found as others have, that unless the trim is pressed durring heading changes made with rudder input, that the KA-50 autopilot will attempt to return to the original heading when the rudder is centered. I have read posts that claim you should keep the trim held during control changes and that this behavour is normal, but I have watched the producer video notes #10 on trimming and it states that by no means is it necessary to hold down the the trim during any kind of maneuver.
  23. Vista did get off to a bit of a rough start, and got it's knocks on reputation that still stains it. But, as much as I like Win XP, I like my Vista even better. I have a 32bit and a 64bit machine and would not go back to XP. That said, I would wait for Win 7 unless Microsoft offers free upgrades from Vista. I plan to upgrade my 32bit Vista to 64bit Win7 if the upgrade price is not too steep.
  24. The best description I can give the uninitiated is that TrackIR gives you monitor peripheral vision. Flying without TrackIR is analogous to driving with blinders on.
