Do the dual rotors prevent vortex ring?
PeterP replied to McBlemmen's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
exactly! - good things needs some time! Read the 'weather-report' in briefing! ... well, there might be 'soon' a better way without to interrupt the in-cockpit experience. >>> http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=1797834#post1797834 -
HDR with a 'D' like Dynamic for DCS 1.2.4
PeterP replied to PeterP's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
@ Tucano_uy - I edited the readme again - please have a look in the post above. - hope it is now clearer what to do and to follow the steps in chronological order. ...btw: I so often read "thank you" in this thread- but how it comes that I can't see one of you in my 'earned reputation' log..?...!..- still wondering... ;) (yes! - you are right! - I want to "crack" the 100 rep points before I make my 5K post. So: Hurry Up! - there is not much time left! This was my ONLY goal from the beginning!) -

also excuse my noob reply .. : (reminder: there is no stupid question in the whole universe - it's always the response that let the question look stupid) Did you already tried to read the ReadMe.txt?! The ReadMe.txt: ...and if 'yes' - at which part did you got 'stuck' ? ( also note this: giving me a clue about your native language - it would help me to formulate a better reply.) If the above ReadMe is not like yours - please download again - I changed it during the last hours (without touching the core files of this mod at all - I just prepared it for a DCS-user-files upload). EDIT: After spending some time at the dinning table and having a conversation about this read-me with my wife - I changed my mind and edited it again - please download again and/or look above. ...this is the old installation instruction part for comparison: And my wife is right - the old one is too complicated and expects knowledge beforehand - and it's also some kind of a German>English 1:1 translation that makes it even more complicated to read . Here are the helping comments of my wife - you have to know - her roots are half Spanish/Columbian: :) -
Do the dual rotors prevent vortex ring?
PeterP replied to McBlemmen's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
...without going in to much details: one engine and two blades vs. two engines and six blades - what do you think helps more to hold you in a stable state and produces more lift/airflow to 'push' the (always present) vortex further from your blades so you have more distance to it and it gets harder to drop in this 'hole' !? ;) - well , when you are once in it - you are almost stuck...and no engine/pitch power will help - than immediately lower the rotor-pitch(collective) - so you don't feed the VSR even more - and decent/drift lateral/forward to get out of it as long you have a fistful air between the fuselage and the ground.- but more blades/and square meters of 'wings' will lower your decent rate significant/extend your 'glide-path' to get out of the VRS . what works in the Ka-50 is a no-go in the Huey: one example - never try to land down-wind with the Huey - always bring your nose in the wind! -
HDR with a 'D' like Dynamic for DCS 1.2.4
PeterP replied to PeterP's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
Did you really read the first post?... Short: This is a general "problem" of DCS-World with HDR-ON. and it is not caused by this mod. There are some thread's about it - make a forum-search for "HUD colour". ...actually your post is very ironic... : you can read the HUD better with this mod as with the default. whatever - I use strictly HDR normal - as I don't like this 'soft-tone' at all. and this is not so prominent any more (BTW when I want to see a softtone - I watch a 80ies 'erotic movie'.. and not DCS ;)). ...and on another note - I find it also somewhat realistic - as you can't cast shadows with light. - and it's a normal problem also for when you sit in front of the real thing. ...even if I wish it would be a little less sometimes - but this is hard - if not impossible - to achieve in DCS with the current "HDR" rendering and change big chunks of the whole ambient light shaders to make it 'realistic'- and if you would - I bet there would be a big performance drop . EDIT: What also helps to higher the HUD Visibility : Set your 'digital vibrance higher in your GPU-colour' profile and/or edit : \DCS World\Config\Effects\PostEffects\hdr.lua line #6,7,8 and set the overall colour-shift to "1" - so the Green is less shifted to the Blue anymore and becomes a little clearer. Or only higher the value for 'G' (= Green) - so the Greens get more dominant and is better visible. ...and also use the 'normal' -HDR setting. Maybe you also want to use this little edit/MOD: Big HUD Font for A-10C -
I fixed the link in #3. Download now!

HDR with a 'D' like Dynamic for DCS 1.2.4
PeterP replied to PeterP's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
Thanks for the reply -! writing right now the 'ReadMe' for this Mod. (BTW: I now bought a laptop that is powerful enough to run DCS at least in minimum-settings - so I'm never again have to ask such 'silly' questions when I'm far from home :) - I had before a 'EEE-PC' with a atom-processor -32bit only -, so it made nearly no sense at all to install DCS World on it ....). -
For those that are interested: Here is a WIP what is (maybe) coming next: Generating automatically a set of Mission Charts before entering the cockpit >>> http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=1797834#post1797834

Kneebord Export for all DCS modules - I need your suggestions
PeterP replied to PeterP's topic in DCS Modding
This post purpose is in first place to pass some info to Balu and Icemaker , but it should also show, to these that interested, the current WIP to integrate a automatically generated Mission-Chart into DCS. Hi Balu , hi Icemaker - I think that I have now worked out a syntax that allows 'easy' injection of the Mission-data that is inside of DCS and calculated of Balu's Flight Planning for DCS . The Blue (can be any colour later on) text-strings that you can see above are place-holders for the Mission-Data - this text is not from a image-file , it is created by a LUA script. -and can be reloaded each time you jump out of the cockpit. Means it should be Possible that you join a server - create the data - and have it in-cockpit when entering the plane. Attached is a Working WIP of the current state (the RAR container is passworded -PM's are sent) - It works out of the Box in the DCS World Su-25T . You need the mod files from here to make it work with other modules. I also attached a sample of the syntax that is used on this Image: (please note the annotations inside the lua file) Have a good look on everything and make your own thoughts how to inject the data on the fly in my files - let's talk about it at the weekend/up coming days via TS or whatever. You may ask yourself: why not generate images (DDS with mipmaps against shimmer) and place them in the prepared folder? I prefer the lua scripts because the are much smaller in size than images and much more flexible - the typo is also much clerar and better readable compared to a DDS that should have a small file-size. - and the LUAs can be easily attached to a mission file beforehand and placed on a server - so everyone gets this flight-charts instantly and they can be even different for each flight / coalition. BTW: Look also at this to get a estimate about the workload/and time that will be needed for coding: Item list.txt: Path to lua files that create the text: DCS WorldKNEEBOARD_MOD_PeterPMISSION_DATA_Charts... Text-String list for each Chart: MISSION_DATA_Chart_1.lua = FI (126) - FP (201)........................................................= 327 MISSION_DATA_Chart_2.lua = CO (84) - FN (115).........................................................= 199 MISSION_DATA_Chart_3.lua = MT (19) - MA (3) - RI (2) - AI (10) - BJ (5) - TO (8) - AB (8) - LD (48)...= 103 MISSION_DATA_Chart_4.lua = RK (1).....................................................................= 1 MISSION_DATA_Chart_5.lua = FL (162) - ME (19) - MR (3) - AC (10) - BF (5) - LO (15)...................= 214 MISSION_DATA_Chart_6.lua = CP (84) - RM (1)...........................................................= 85 MISSION_DATA_Chart_7.lua = SI (1) - TA (1)............................................................= 2 MISSION_DATA_Chart_8.lua = WI (3) - RE (1) - WP (300) - UN (1)........................................= 305 Total = 1236 Legend : "CP.12.B" 'CP' = Comm Plan (or similar) 12 = Line 12 B = column B No Test-string naming exists twice - every item is unique.EDIT: Something I forgot to add: The next thing that I will do (after we agreed on a clear syntax) is to put in every MISSION_DATA_Chart_.lua this line: dofile("KNEEBOARD_MOD_PeterP/MISSION_DATA_Charts/text_definitions.lua") and replace every text-string with a expression that will be listed in the text_definitions.lua . In this text_definitions.lua will be every text-string listed and we only have to replace what's behind the equal and/or between the "" . Here is a example for MISSION_DATA_Chart_4.lua : (attached is now a working example for MISSION_DATA_Chart_3 - drop both lua files inside the new "MISSION_DATA_Charts" folder ) and this is a example how a singel line in the text_definitions.lua will look - so we have a library and it should be 'easy-peasy' to inject new data for you/us. EDIT: text_definitions_chart_3.lua MISSION_DATA_Chart_3.lua -
have a look here >>> How to move controls position window and this will maybe needed too >>>Following this link Change Position of yellow Text (Weap.stat, AP)??? you will find a modified PilotSight_page.lua that let you control X/Y and Size . And it gives enough info to change the colour.

Some additional info: While reading through this posts it seems that some don't really know what happens in terms of stick force and position in the Real A-10 when you operate the trim-hat. This video should give you the needed info : ...and now you will (maybe) understand why Trim in a real aircraft is a no-brainer. You push the stick to the position of your wished flightpath , if the force is in-convenient to hold over a longer time and/or you want to fly hands-off: than you trim to get the controlls in a state where you don't have to apply a force with your hand to hold it in position - of course you can mix this and trim already while moving..and so on. This gets harder without FFB - and it is a little more guesswork/try'n'error - but for this case we have the 'trim-diamond' visible in the control-indicator (RCtrl-Enter) - and we have to accomplish visually what we would normally feel with the stick-hand.

...something to add: Before de-and reinstalling in the future when something is 'somehow' broken again , have a look in C:\Users\>YOUR USERNAME<\Saved Games\DCS\ This is the place of all game specific user profiles and settings . renaming/moving/deleting this folder let DCS world recreate a new one at next start - and all is a mint condition again. and your crated profiles are stored in ...\Saved Games\DCS\Config\Input\... you can also only delete/move this folder to set everything controller related back - or dig a little deeper and only delete/move wished input file. Welcome Aboard! :)

Instruction for 'P-51D Sim' default keyboard profile restoring all keys at once (without having to click "Default" in each line): DCS World OPTIONS > CONTROLS > P-51D Sim > Than Highlight the keyboard row > Select "LOAD PROFILE" > Navigate to ...\DCS World\Mods\aircrafts\P-51D\Input\P-51D*\keyboard and select the 'default.lua' > Click OK *Do it with the "P-51D_easy" folder when it happened to you with the Easy flight model. This vid shows the necessary steps, but for the A-10C. (staring at 43s)

Hare a my two cents about rudders: And here is some more : You want to fly manly the Huey? - get a G940 , well it has it quirks... but: dual trust levers and FFB - and rudders are already included at a price you can't beat (and even unbelievable cheap as second-hand)! -And you can combine it later on with anything you want. FFB: Have a look to get a idea what you are missing: ...

OMG - you are right!! Damn, that is a serious problem - and when 1.2.5 wont brake it , 1.2.6 sure does!! ...and now I'm questioning myself why I have done all this stuff and shared it with you at all - I'm so sorry!! ...wait .... lets push this thought a 'little' further... I won't go to work after my holidays any-more! - just because there is the possibility that world ends (or I die) in two months - ...so going to work and earning money will be absolute useless ! - as I have right now everything I need to life for the next two month. -got it?! :) EDIT: If someone else is considering to post something similar like TimeKilla did and you might think that it's worth to be discussed in a kind of way - ... Please (!) consult a doctor or at least a philosopher beforehand - ...these people have the right profession to answer your concerns much better than I ... ;):) Really... do I have to put it in the FAQ ?...wondering...

You get a simple confirmation to your registered e-mail address - this is how it looks - if it matters that the one that lends you money sees it? - decide yourself. - but changing your email to his - will make it nearly impossible to recover your password when something went wrong - and you never hear again from the one that told you to buy it for you. and he will have also your serial and key- things he don't need to know. - just saying!
-
Best Idea is that you open a account - give the login info to the one that buys it via credit-card - So he can purchase directly from your account - than change your pass and even email after the bought item is registered in your account. - you have full control of the bought item inside your account. This method makes sure that you have full control over the module/serial/key - and you are don't have to rely on help from outside (the original buyer ) when there is a quirk. The method that EtherealN describes has the original purchase resisted not at your account AFAIK. So you need to stay in contact or ask ED for transfer when you want to see the purchase also at your DCS account.

Can someone help me strategize what to purchase?
PeterP replied to Cavemanhead's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
... a little more serious but with the exact same advise: The best strategy - to save the most money - is to get them now , as it is very, very unlikely that inflation is dropping during the upcoming years. -

...best strategy ?! Are you a broker or something?! ;) Get them all - right now - while they are on sale! >>>21 June 2013 - DCS News Update -
Balu , Thanks for your afford ! This is a great tool ! I would like to have a skype/PM conversation with you in the near future and pass my knowledge about writing this filghtplan-info directly into a file inside DCS . - so you can pass the printing at all and have your generated Cart directly available in cockpit. Have a look on this to know what I'm talking about : KNEEBOARD_Tablet_Mod_PP_1.01_for DCSWORLD_1.2.4 And examine this post: Icemaker is the man that has already programmed a effective way to write into DCS on the fly - so you can generate a new chart while already connected to Multiplayer - you just have to re-enter your slot after you have generated a individual chart to be able to see it in cockpit. Let's put our knowledge together !

>>> Post #1 Short answer: No - don't expect me to implement things like this . Leave it to the ED-Developers I made a very small update : Updating files in the DCS userfiles-section always needs a check by a moderator- and this didn't happen up to now. So it's temporally not visible there. Expect it to be up again within some hours/days. It's not in my hands. But: Please re-visit the first post. >>> http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=107586 You will find the newest version always in it. And if not - at least a info about the 'why'. Thanks.
-
Kroll, Why opening another thread on the same question again? >>>64 bit only with update .24 (and I bet that this thread will be soon moved /merged into your first thread) Nothing has changed up to now and this is still the latest news about it: >> http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=103090: Please check the the DCS-News section beforehand in the future. And I bet you will see it in bold in the changlog of a future update and a Sticky-Thread when it happens. More info from a ED-Team member:

Gunsight not correct - due to PLP-Monitorsetup
PeterP replied to LNR212's topic in Bugs and Problems
All targeting sights are bound to the DCS GUI in CA. (not a very good design decision for Multi-head users) One solution: DCS GUI must be set to cover your whole center viewport - use App+S when it gets tricky to gather all needed info, as you will run with this PLP into problems with CA.
