so i returned to DCS after a good year and started playing again using Viacom pro. I have the licensed version as i always have. when i left, it worked flawlessly. very very seldom would it not pick up. Now that i have come back i can not get it to understand any words i say. if i say something like Playboy, Checking in. It spits out Playboy Checking out as the registered command most times or it puts into voice attack screen Playboy, To checking in. Seems to add "to" too a lot of things. I have done the speech training over and over and over again. when i do the windows speech training it seems to train just fine, goes all the way through it. just seems that for the life of me i can not get viacom to work any longer. Also, i do have a few commands that i have set myself in viacom pro. like Gear up, and canopy down. those work just fine. any advice on what i can do to fix this? right now its just not usable. I preatty much just had to go back the the communication menu just to use Jtac

out of curiosity what is sensor select switch "dreyfuss"?? is that sensor select switch "Depress" or sensor select switch "Down"

so if and when these are updated or fixed are they automatically updated in the game when ED does there updates or do we have to download them all again from the google site? just wondering as the last i checked the post in the sticky doesn't show any new changes from like 2019. Just curious if I have the newest ones or nothing has been changed.

here is something i found that i dont think i had ever truly seen. i have heard of the mishaps that have or can occure, just truly shows it here in this video. forward to 2:13 in the video to see it in action.

i have the Rift S and i use the A button all the time on my right controller to zoom in. so i would think you should be able to do it with the first generation. But maybe not.

Has anyone heard if the Training missions will be updated from Baltic? as they seem to be out of date a bit now. Especially with the new changes to dropping bombs.

Is there a way to change the default Hud color from green to something else? I use VR and in the Rift S it is almost impossible to see the green color text. I know there was a hud_init lua that was out there but that was for the A10C and it is like 3 years old. so I am hoping there is an easy way for me to just change something in the .LUA using RGB

because DCS does not work with the Dashboard. They don't have it in there SDK. And I don't believe they will ever put it in.

i think the problem with this though is you lock your Rift to that for anything you play. So things you may have better fps with because they are more optimized will now have less

@beasty So you think a I5 10600KF would be considered a major upgrade from what i have now? i only say that because i am not opposed to Intel, i was only thinking AMD because they are cheaper generally. Like i said i have an intel now it just is not a K and for the past 3 weeks the fan on it is constantly going max and then off and back to max. But if the I5 10600KF is that much of an upgrade over my current then i can look at boards that will except that one and allow me more ram as well.

@beasty and that is my only thing, DCS is not the only game i play. i actually play a lot of different games. so i wouldnt be upgrading only for this one. i just figured more people would know if what i am looking to get would actually be an upgrade to what i have right now. i believe processor wise my mother board will only accept up to 8700 i think it is. i know it would take the 7700K but i really think if i am going to upgrade i may as well upgrade to a motherboard i can later on upgrade. this one is just so not upgradeable (is that a word ). i know my mother board wont except the new 10600 as i don't believe those are 1151 sockets are they? which in turns means i would have to upgrade the motherboard anyhow.

i agree with the better timing on the ram. i just wasnt able to find any better then what i showed on the picture right now that was 3600. from what i hear with the processor unless you use 3600 your not getting the full potential. but i know that 3200 with lower timing is faster then 3600 with higher. and on DCS i play all maps

yes i am on ssd but i struggle to get 40 FPS on lower settings. generally its locked on ASW with the rift s. and DCS is not the only game i play. Others i play need the ram. as for the GPU, i dont plan on upgrading that anytime soon lol. i just paid 600 for that 2 months ago.

@unlikely actully i have the ASUS H110 plus, but yet you are correct i was wrong it does support 32GB but CPU wise its fairly bound to lower ones.

So I am looking to upgrade my computer. The problem i have right now is that my current motherboard can not take more then 16GB of memory. and i really want to get 32 GB at least. So i figured if i am going to upgrade the motherboard i may as well upgrade the processor as i believe that is my bottleneck on most games in VR. my current specs are as follows and then i have a picture of what i am thinking of buying on Amazon. and i just want to get some input before i make the jump. current specs are: Intel I7-7700 (not the K) 16 gigs of ram H110 motherboard-seems there was a variant of this that had 4 slots for memory, mine does not RTX 2070 ( i just upgraded to this card from a GTX 1060 what i am looking to upgrade too is attached but in a nut shell its ASUS TUF gaming x570 motherboard AMD ryzen 7 3700X 8-core/16 thread G.skill 32 GB 3600 16-19-19-39 these three things togeather will run me about 615.00 US dollars which im sure there will be tax on there so probably 700 total. am i about to make at least a major upgrade from what i have? i know that the processor has got to be way better then i have, and being this board will take up to 128 gigs of ram i should be golden for awhile. just looking for others input that may no a little more then me. i am really not trying to break the bank here just want more ram and a better CPU for VR. EDIT: so I think I have decided to go with a I7-10700, MSI Z490 gaming edge motherboard and 32 gigs of crucial balistic 3200 ram. i was going to go with 3600 ram but the timimgs that Crucial has is 16-18-18-38 ang its the exact same for the 3200 and the 3200 is cheaper. I dont plan on ever overclocking the CPU anyhow so paying the extra 200 dollars for the 10700XF is not what i need.

And why are you not making these for ED as an employee? These are awesome. i have not flown the 17 sense i bought it because there were only two of them that came with it. And i never even knew these existed until i happened to see reference of them on a you tube video.

Steam only gets it for two weeks and i believe it doesnt start right away.

so far after flying a few times, some of the things i have noticed is 1. seems the POD get stuck on the Time remaining 0 for me as well and this is with out rearming. but what i found that corrected this was while it was sitting there doing nothing i just clicked the designate target button that i have bound and bam the pod came to life and i was able to blast away targets. 2. once i have a target locked and say i fly past it, instead of the cue on the HUD staying with the target and going off bore-site, it will actually jump to the next way point. then if i turn the plane just slightly it jumps back to the INS area mode of where it last was. During all of this you can watch the fall line for the bomb bouncing around the HUD. 3. when you do have a target locked the Time that i believe is suppose to be time to fly over or time to impact when you lock something, does not seem to be changing at all for me. it just sits at 3:45. even when i drop a bomb, i get nothing that tells me Time to Impact. i thought redkite had said this would show there. Otherwise i have been loving the plane, i can see the mfd's so much better in VR then any other plane. EDIT oh i forgot one other thing i noticed. when i had something locked up with the TPOD and i used the elevation knob to zoom out a little it instantly unlocks the target and goes to area mode. i wouldnt think this is intended least i hope not. but zooming at all in or out will break the point lock. as well as if you click from narrow to wide also breaks the lock and kind of bounces the view.

no i have not tried it with out the material file. And as for the other mod i honestly dont know.I believe it changed the font but not sure.

Tried it again, made a copy, pulled it completely out to my desk top. still no luck...all black. i am starting to think that maybe its a conflict with displaysReadablityModifiedV2.5 mod. i just remembered that i have that mod installed for VR.

I tried to use ovg but either mine is not setup correctly anymore or i was doing it wrong because it kept telling me that your zip file was not a valid archive. But i am about to go in game now so will let you know.

yep i was keeping them in there. didn't think it would cause the issue being they were renamed. I will retry with them moved out.

No problem, i had to completely delete the zip folder and the backup folder i had in there and do a repair because when i deleted the modded one, and renamed the backup, it made half of the plane disappear lol. like the whole cockpit. after deleting the two files that were changed i did a repair and was back to stock normal. Maybe its because i did a copy of the file and renamed that? all though that shouldn't matter. and when i compared your material file to the original the only change i saw was the syntax for the color being changed.

i had this exact same issue just now. I followed your instructions. i opened the zip file, pulled in the 4 dds files, let them overwrite, and soon as i got into cockpit, complete black except for those screeens. so guess i will have to uninstall.
