  1. I noticed that when I first put my Rift on things are a little out of focus but after a few minutes my eyes seem to adjust and it gets more clear.
  2. That is where mine is set. I don't have any issues. When I look directly at gauges, HUD, MFDs, etc, they are quite clear. I am getting pretty consistent FPS at 45. At times it jumps to 70 and right back to the 40s. It will go down to the high 20s and in the 30s. I don't see an issue with it. What should I be looking for?
  3. Thanks for the chart. I don't notice any visual improvement difference with changing the Pixel Density but at 2.0 I do see it start to ratchet really bad when looking to the side.
  4. What I did was cut a little notch in the case so I can secure it with the cable coming out of it. I bought a USB extension and an HDMI extension so my cords are really long. I wrap the cords and place them under the elastic case handle. That case is so nice I just had to use it and now I do. At the end of my flying days or evenings, I place the Rift in its cradle, close the case, and leave by my flying rig like a briefcase.
  5. Here some info that really surprised me. I have been using my glasses with the Rift. I can wear them with little issues. They are solid frames. Last night I put the Rift on without my glasses. Everything was much more clear. I am very happy about that. I looked at the Button Boxes. They are really nice. I also like the fact that the Rift has little slots at the bottom that I can see through.
  6. I noticed DCS shows in the VR Headset and on the monitor as well. Is there a way to disable that or is that just the way it is?
  7. I downloaded VoiceAttack and VIACOM. Don't know how to use them yet. Will read the manuals today. Very interested in the "button boxes." Is this a tactile add on or is in the VR world?
  8. I just flew for four hours, taking small breaks. By the way, a few beers makes this really intense! After flying and figuring out I can zoom in and out the experience is complete. I didn't notice the small lack of graphic perfection you get with a monitor. It felt like complete immersion and I am astounded at how much better my flight fundamentals are. I remember a flight instructor getting on to me about flying level by constantly using the instruments. He would demand that I look at the horizon and the world outside. You can do this in VR. I was watching the wing on my Bf-109 on the downwind and glanced at my instruments and was perfectly level. I also like not centering my TrackIR every damned second. I am hooked and I am going to save some $$ and put it into a contingency fund because if my Rift ever goes out I will not fly without. It has had that much of an impact. I flew several combat sorties today in the Ka-50 and the A-10C and had no issues whatsoever. I liken the unit to wearing a motor cycle helmet which is a lot lighter than my flight helmet in the Navy. I am a convinced and believe in the VR world. There are so many people in this community that are so negative and I was one of them. I learned a great lesson. The great thing for me, personally, is it feels like I am really flying again and that is something I have missed so much. I think it is better than the last multi-million dollar sim I flew at NAS North Island. I flew the SH-60B, SH-60F, and MH-60R full motion trainers and this VR in DCS is better in my opinion.
  9. Getting much better now. After flying about 5 hours with this I just don't think I could go back to just a screen.
  10. It is like a drug. On a serious note: I am going to have to remain disciplined with this device. I will get up and move around instead sitting there hour after hour and when my lady wants my attention I WILL do the right thing. Since I got this on Wednesday nothing else matters this weekend and my wife gets it. All my kids are grown and she has the green light to shop this weekend so she is golden!
  11. When I started in the SH-3H I would actually have to piss every ten minutes. The vibrations would just trigger something. Didn't matter how much or little I would drink. It almost became an issue. I became very intimate with the pilot relief tube. The one thing I did do was clean it myself after shutdown. I bought some alcohol and would pour it down the tube. The amazing line crew never had to worry about that.
  12. I flew my first combat sortie on the NTTR Range last night “Inside” of the Rift. My air-frame was the Mirage 2000C. I had four LBGs and was departing out of Creech AFB. JTAC (Predator) was up in area about 8000AGL, sorting and lasing targets. Once I received coordinates to target areas I entered in the LAT/LONG to target which was in the Northern areas of the NTTR, 74.32 miles. I was glad as I would have some flight time. It was a little slow entering the coordinates in. I found that if I lean in to look at the NAV panel I can see quite clearly with the Rift. Time was 0900 and TOS would be about 0930 with departure and ingress. I decided to turn on the cockpit lights. Although I didn’t need them I like the red. I used to turn on the greenish blue lights in the SH-60 just because it highlighted the panels. Plus, it looks cool. I took my time taxiing to 13 for departure, everything looks awesome with this Rift. The 1st element, Pontiac 1, was already up and dropping iron. I could hear Northstriker, also my dad in real life, calling targets destroyed. He is very nice, he left me a Strela and a BMP. As Uzi 1, I was lined up and ready for my VFR departure switching to IFR on the climb out. No traffic from Los Angeles Center or Reno FSS. Nothing coming out of KLSV that would clobber the track into the NTTR. KVGT, KLAS, KHND, and KBVU should all be heading anywhere but North. Use your imagination! I pushed my eye glasses forward into the Rift, by pushing on the back of the arms, to make it more comfortable and readied for takeoff. I scanned the instruments in my beautiful 3D cockpit. Warning panel shows good. I ensure the leading edge slats are retracted. I decided to test them and deployed the slats. I got my warning, retracted the slats, and reset the master warning indicator. Throttle to full AB. The M-2000C climbed out without effort even with 2000lbs of iron under the belly. Once I reached a comfortable 15000A the desert looks magnificent. I don’t even realize I have the Rift on my face and head. What a glorious feeling of simulated flight. My Buttkicker is humming the familiar vibration frequencies of my jet. Time to ingress into the NTTR. Northstriker, dad, relayed to me that JTAC has smoke on target and the Strela was keeping her mouth shut. I turn on the weapons system, select my fuze, lock target and roll off to set up for the drop. Oh, $hit, here we go again, my head is swimming. Gotta focus on the run in. I roll left to line up on target. Damn it my f**king head is swimming! I can do this. This Rift is unbelievable. I lose all track of the real world. I continually let go of the stick and wipe my sweaty palm on my shorts. I lean to left all the way to dash to look around the HUD. This Rift is a dream. I can see the red smoke. I can see the 3D nose of the jet. I can see everything. Bomb fall line is climbing up the HUD. “PAVEWAY!” I roll right to view the target. I am very motion sick and getting worse. I roll back left looking down and boom. That Strelsa is no more. I steady up and lean my head back and take some deep breaths. Northstriker, “Hey what’s wrong?” Me, “I don’t know dad, I am feeling a little sick.” Dad, “Is that thing really that good?” Me, “Yes dad, I just can’t believe how real this feels. I am going to RTB and make a head call and get some water.” Northstriker, “Okay son, we can call it a night.” Me, “Okay dad, I just have to get used to flying in a 3D world.” In closing, it took me a few weeks to stop puking and pissing every 10 minutes in helos as well. J
  13. My hot button issue right now is I can't seem to access the very bottom menu buttons in Multiplayer. When I select an aircraft can hit the button but nothing happens. Weirdly I could not escape so I hit the keyboard escape and ended up in the jet. That is strange.
  14. I can barely describe the experience I had last night with my Rift. I knew going in about the graphics. Having flown in helos, in the Navy, I can tell you, at times, your eyes get tired from staying focused on the instruments and they tend to blur after a while. The SH-3H was a vibes monster but transitioning to the SH-60F was riding in a Cadillac. Still, the vibes get you after a while. Back to the Rift. I jumped into the Viggen, after setting up the graphics and hovering around 25 to 45 FPS, good to go. I was in no way prepared for what I experienced. It is not hype. Some claim there is too much hype over VR. It is not hype. I was stunned. Having used TrackIR for years I was not prepared to just sit there and look around. The cockpit did not swing around me and for a second I thought it wasn't working. Everything is 3D. Everything is 3D. Everything is 3D. I pulled out to taxi and with my Buttkicker, sending the seat of the pants feeling, I started to get high as a kite on natural brain chems. I was departing out if Vaziani. I got to the runway very slowly because it felt like I had never done this before. I lined up and push the throttle through all three stages. I got to 280KMH and pulled back that stick and then it happened. Holy $hit, I am flying! I rolled left to enter the pattern and felt every movement. My head was swimming a little. Whoa, feeling a little weird now. I leveled out at 1000 feet and I felt like I was at 1000 feet. I really wanted to lean my head all the way back in my Volair Sim Pit chair just to take the motion sickness edge off. I was in the downwind and turned to line up on the base leg. Again, my head leans and I feel every bit of the turn. Once I entered short final the nose was blocking my runway. I lean up and forward and I am looking over the nose and brought her down safely. I have a full cockpit with three touchscreens running Helios. I have the Saitek pro panels as well and a Pro Throttle Quadrant. I can use the panels to an extent but I would forego all of that to fly with this Oculus Rift. And flying a WWII Warbird? In the words of the character Lefty, in Donnie Brasko, portrayed by Al Pacino, “F**CKING FORGET ABOUT IT!”
  15. I have saved up and placed the order. I pick it up at BestBuy today. I am so excited I am jumping out of my skin. I have no idea what to expect. I have the system and Nvidia Card to run it. I may pull an all nighter and suck it up tomorrow at work.:) I am joining the ranks of VR! And yes this is an issue as I can't calm down.
  16. Attached is the OvGME/JSGME exports mods for the A-10C, M-2000C, Ka-50, MIG-21bis, Gazelle, and the AJS37 Viggen. If you find a mistake let me know. Wanted to get this out. Scooternutz_Aircraft_External_Display_Exports.zip
  17. I just haven't gotten around to making the file structure in OvGME. I should do that.
  18. I have attached all of my exports, my screen config, and a screenshot of how to get the right screen coordinates. Take a screenshot of your entire desktop, do not crop it, and paste in Paint. In Paint, use the select function to move the cursor to get the correct position coordinates and then select the area to get the X and Y size. I am also including, in the spoiler, the autoexec.bat that I use to insert the files after an update. It will also show you where to place the exported init.lua files. If you don't want to make your own autoexec.bat just look at it so you know where to place the files. the Viggen file locations are at the bottom. Quick note on the Maverick Export: It works but is floats around. I tried it and did not like it at all. I am figuring out a way to lock in one position. My Viggen HELIOS profile is just a basic place holder until I finish it. Very limited and I did not include it. I have the NAV DATA exported, the Waypoint Display, and the RADAR. 19. I rotate at 280-300. I make sure that at 300 I am on the last rubber on the rear wheels. Right now there does not seem to be a different sound when airborne. I have a ButtKicker and when in stages 2 and 3 there is no wheel sound when leaving the ground. I know it will be resolved. In the Mig-21, as soon as I leave the ground I feel it with the ButtKicker and I also feel the thumps when the gear locks into the wheel wells. Scared the $h1t out of me when I first flew with the ButtKicker. In closing I don't think it is a matter of rotating at a lower speed but how fast the Viggen can get up to 280. I lock the brakes through stage 1 and once she rolls a tad, release brakes, ramp up through stage 3 and she takes off like a dragster.
  20. I am seeing the skin on the intakes and the nose flicker like its trying to digitize itself. Anyone else having this issue?
  21. Great job. A page I will check often.
