BIGNEWY any confirmation, please, that the team are aware of this issue? I only ask as many of us here were hoping it might be mentioned in today's patch notes. I was on 2.5.5 OB until the Super Carrier, and the probelm only started after upgrading for me, so it's a 2.5.6 issue. Never played with that stereo mode parser option that I know is a WIP. Clouds, shadows, smoke and reflections are all affected. Left lens is the problematic side for me. It's not a game-breaking problem, but it's pretty close to being so as it's causing extra eye strain for me, and no doubt, others too. Any acknowledgement that the team are at least aware would be appreciated. Thanks.

VRK - a virtual reality enabled kneeboard with touch and ink support
Majik replied to AMVI_Rider's topic in DCS Modding
Thanks for the pictures, they really help to visualise. Of course I would use it in the same orientation as you, I meant that because I rest my arm on my thigh, and the angle of my leg in relation to the stick, it might interfere with my arm/wrist. I sit in a very low chair with my pedals more in front, than below my seat, so my knees come up angled quite a bit compared to sitting in a desk chair, and this geometry affects where on my arm sits on my thigh. An A5 sized kneeboard would be fine, for example, but I for something longer like the H640P, I might need part of it hanging off beyond the end of my knee, rather than closer to/under my arm. I'll create a template using the H640P dimensions, and see what works. I'm probably overthinking all of this. Thanks again for the help! -
VRK - a virtual reality enabled kneeboard with touch and ink support
Majik replied to AMVI_Rider's topic in DCS Modding
That's one of the tablets I'm looking at, the price and buttons definitely are a plus. The length is what concerns me; I fly centre-stick and wouldn't want it to get in the way mounted on the knee. The other is the Intuos S, which has a similarly-sized active area, but smaller overall size and wireless, but at nearly double the cost here. -
VRK - a virtual reality enabled kneeboard with touch and ink support

I've been following this thread from nearly the start, because it's exactly what's needed in VR. But everytime I looked at buying a tablet, I could never decide on which to get (size? buttons? brand? BT?) and would give up for another day. I knew I had an old Wacom Intuous 2 (circa 2003!) lying about, but didn't think it'd actaully work seeing as even some newer tablets don't. Until I set it up yesterday to have a try, and shockingly it did! A 17 year old tablet works with this program... and had no problems in setup. Spent the whole night creating custom layouts for each plane Now I've used VRK, I know I have to get a new pen tablet (the intuos 2 is just too big), this is truly one of those "no going back" features you've created Rider. -
DCS World TARGET profile for TM Cougar and Warthog + MFDs
Majik replied to Home Fries's topic in Thrustmaster
I had this exact problem last year; many people online seemed to have the same problem, and I found many supposed solutions from googling, but in the end playing around with USB legacy mode in the BIOS is what ultimatley fixed it for me. YMMV I'd also make sure power management is off for the combined hotas once target is on (it's seperate from the settings for just the joystick and throttle)- 2260 replies

Got it. Will just have to choose between either MIDS A or discord depending on the situation then, which isn't that big a problem all things considered. Thanks again.- 2260 replies

DCS World TARGET profile for TM Cougar and Warthog + MFDs
Majik replied to Home Fries's topic in Thrustmaster
Okay this is exactly where I got confused. So I need to map scroll lock as PTT in Discord, and then use the profile selection menu (which I use without MFDs) to set PTT keyboard? And if want to set it in CTS, I use Values>Global>communications>TS/voice chat hotkey to 0 ? What confuses me is that it says it's recommended for SRS, and automatic with Vaicom, both of which I use. I've tried both ways (0 and 1), and still get (MSP) as DX21/Button 20 in windows game controller (and scroll lock doesn't toggle). I'm obviously doing something wrong here. :helpsmilie: Thanks, I appreciate the patience. I've been digging around in your documentation for a very long time now, and this is the first time I've really been stumped. I'm new to the Hornet, so didn't know about MIDS, but coming from that other sim, I have had a long term worry far in the back of my mind about how the IDM switches in the Viper would eventually work with this profile, but to know it can all work is great.- 2260 replies

DCS World TARGET profile for TM Cougar and Warthog + MFDs
Majik replied to Home Fries's topic in Thrustmaster
Home Fries, I need some help. I'm having one of those days where no matter how many times I read the advanced config guide, the info will not stick in my head. I've managed to setup MIDS A and B in SRS with an f18 profile, and am using Vaicom as well. What I can't figure out, despite the information clearly being presented, is if I can use both MIDs as well as a ptt for Discord on a Warthog, or if I have to lose the A channel for discord/vice versa. I think setting up SRS, Vaicom and your profile again all in one day has (home) fried my brain I've switched to ptt keyboard, and supposedly, from what I understand (or not), that should make hat switch press into scroll lock? I'm still reading Button 20 for both HSU and HSP no matter DX or keyboard ptt. Any help for my dumb ass would be much appreciated.- 2260 replies

I hadn't used Vaicom (or DCS) in a while, have been going through the manual again, and see that the pan sliders, a feature I very much enjoyed, are now disabled because of 2.5.6. The manual says to set this up ingame now, but as a vr user needing all audio to come through the headset, am I right in thinking it's not possible to have the different radios on differing sides, or can this still somehow be done?

Yep getting this also in the Reverb. Clouds seem to be rendering at different distances (they work fine in zoom), and noticed it in other reflections and shadows also.

Thanks, you've made it pretty easy to split the graphics down the middle, only a couple have extra controls spanning the middle (bar the special instructions on all modules). I've used kneeboard builder to figure out the rest of the folder names as best I can, and updated the file. Hopefully it helps others as it has me. I was going to post about this regarding the F-14; I use buttons 11 and 13 for spyglass and vr zoom globally in the UI, which translates to the coolie switch forward and aft in other modules (that I own at least, except F-14 and MB339). As the deafult controls on the coolie are usually useable elsewhere in the profiles, it works really well as having momentary zooms on the throttle is ideal for me. In the F-14 however, the coolie hat is mapped to C and V. I use the china hat for wing sweep, and my UI bindings override VSL on the DMS (no biggie with airio though). Is there anyway I can rearrange this on my end, whilst keeping the DMS and china hat controls intact? I'm thinking maybe swap buttons 11 and 13 with C and V in the script, then just remap the functions manually? But then I'm not sure how to affect the tertiary lantirn functions on the DMS. I've looked through the HTML reference, but couldn't find anything, and I'm not sure how to do this through editing the script without guidance. Any help on the matter would be great!- 2260 replies

Pilots that both F16 & F18 using Warthog HOTAS
Majik replied to kmaultsby's topic in DCS: F-16C Viper
Have a look at this profile manager/GUI. It can be fiddly to set up but once done it's incredible (follow the included manual and you'll be fine though). There are common themes to all the profiles, but each is individualised to the module, and it's very, very detailed. https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=116454 I can't recommend it enough. -

I've cut up some of the layout docs to fit the kneeboard if anyone is interested. I've found it useful in vr. https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3307488/- 2260 replies

Hi, I should have mentioned that it's voiced comms that are in Chinese. All text, ATC text or mission info is still English, as is the cockpit. Betty sounds are also, as far as I can tell, always in English. On Caucasus Instant Action missions, I'm getting the PAF skin by default, but Chinese voiced comms/ATC in the following missions: Cold and dark Takeoff and nav landing easy night takeoff night landing river run air-to-air CAC CAS Anti-Ship General bombs Laser-guided bombs Unguided rockets Laser-guided rockets Also, the PAF skin isn't selectable in the drop-down list of the re-arm menu in any of the above ground start missions (I didn't check once landed in the airstarts, but imagine it's the same). Changing to any other skin, even user downloaded skins or splinter, keep Chinese voice. "Free flight", "Night free flight" and "man-in-the loop" start with PAF skin, and have English comms voices. "Air-to-Air BVR" has Chinese voiced comms, but starts with the PLAAF skin, so it's accurate at least. On PG and NTTR, in both cold start missions, I have English comms, and PAF skin loaded by default and selectable, alongside Splinter camo, but PLAAF and FC-1 skins aren't selectable in the re-arm menu. Also, it might not be your area, but I'm not sure how to select the PAF skin in any Fast mission I create, as the various coalitions I have tried (not all) have differing options between only splinter and PLAAF/FC-1.

I know others have mentioned problems with skins since the 18th Dec update, but what I'm getting appears to be different to the other two reports. In any of the Caucasus instant action missions, I only get Chinese comms, despite having locale set to EN in the special menu. In the cold and dark mission there, the PAF Black Spider skin is loaded by default, but still Chinese comms only. Also, that skin isn't selectable in the re-arm menu, but all of the others are. All of the selectable skins render fine. In NTTR and PG instant action, I can select PAF and Splinter camo only, and get Engligh comms. I can't see a way to select that PAF skin in fast missions either, whether in the ME or re-arm, I can only pick Splinter or PLAAF/FC-1 depending on the nation. It's all a bit confusing how it works. I've uninstalled and re-installed the module 4 times, with no luck. I know you're dealing/dealt with problems regarding skins already, including politics, so please forgive me if these issues are already known.

I'd be happy either way, but more options is never a bad thing. Heatblur are adding the F-14A as a variation, so no reason Deka couldn't do so as well (unless it's more of a task than we realise).

Thanks for the latest update, the JF-17 layout is great. And thanks for adding the MB339 as well!! Since 2.42, the Cat I-III switch is inverted in the F-16 for me (WH) no matter where the physical switch starts. Not a big deal by any stretch, just hadn't seen anyone else mention it.- 2260 replies

I had a great time playing this multiple times over the weekend, it's very well made. Thanks!

Deka produced a few weapons and systems tutorials a couple months back: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCOaRp90VE9Lhif1dbFWIuOQ Doesn't cover everything yet, but worth a watch if you haven't already.

The status lights text is very blurry in VR (the only thing I'm having trouble reading in the whole cockpit), so I tried turning down the brightness using the knob on the warning panel (to maybe reduce some bloom), and when it reaches about half way the lights on the status and warning panels start to flicker quite wildly rather than dim. Under half-way they all just turn off. If you could have a look at that, and maybe even the clarity of the status lights, that would be great. Also, the day/night switch seems to just turn them all off, and I'm not sure if it should be like that, or just dim them.

I winced when he played around with the AOA sensor.

Thanks, was wondering why it wasn't showing up. Also thanks to @DonJosh for making this.

With regards to the JF-17 specifically, it shot down an Iranian drone in 2017. It also took part in Anatolian Eagle 2019, which AFAIK isn't open to "redfor". DCS needs more modern planes on the red side for balance though, and with the restrictions on those ever coming along, I guess it's the easiest choice to place the JF-17 there. :shrugs:

I found a good video of a walkaround of a PAF JF-17 at the Combat Commanders School. The caveat, however, is that it's in Urdu. It's mostly self-explanatory though, with the occasional English intersperced, so well worth a watch. The presenter later goes on to walkarounds of the F-16 and Mirage III as well, so it's interesting to see the difference in size. It really brings into perespective how much smaller the Thunder is than the already small F-16!
