  1. Another solution for those using multi monitors in their pits & especially good for screens that don't have a lot of movement on them. Displaylink have unveiled a USB3.0 (and USB2.0) to HDMI adapter at the Intel developers forum. More info here & here
  2. A full alignment is required if you intend to use the INS for navigation. Anything less and the accuracy is degraded. Since the C model uses GPS primarily for navigation, a full alignment is not required. There are various stages of alignment the most important one being full ATT alignment whereby the instruments are fully aligned (in particular the horizon is valid on the HUD and AH). If you have time then sure fully align, if however you are scrambling for TIC then you have the option to forgo a full alignment without any degradation (unless you are carry GBUs it seems). care to enlightne as I am genuinely interested. Surely the GBUs can align in-flight? This excerpt from ausairpower.net is all I could find that came close to an explanation. Nothing on timing unfortunately.
  3. Is this realistic? Surely the alignment time required for a GBU is significantly less than that required for the aircraft (even if the GBUs are using old gyro type INS's). The INS is only required for attitude on the GBU since the navigation is controlled by the on-board GPS. Also since the GPU INS is used in ATT mode, are they not able to align correctly in-flight whilst in a straight, level & unaccelerated condition? I never had this problem pre-09 patch btw. I could scramble when it had completed the initial align and they worked fine. If its modelled correctly then fine, but it's worth asking the question(s).
  4. O Gawd, all I need is some voice which sounds like my wife continuously winging "Abort Abort Abort ....", then I really will be shouting at my screen along the lines of "Shut the f*** up woman!"
  5. They could always keep their environments, just give us easier access to them by incorporating a C functions specifically into the DCS code that register enhanced lua functions capable of the tasks we want. If they really wanted to be smart they could run a specific exe in another thread to do this & it wouldn't hurt frame rates one bit. ivanwfr, c0ff has already said that he will look at a better way of doing it. So I believe it will be temporary, we will just have to be patient & it helps to be a little optimistic now and again.
  6. Ok I took a look at it last night and it appears that the only solution is to write a C Function that is accessable from the different lua environments using as you said "userdata" or possibly "lightuserdata". Pushing & pulling the data off a reserved stack. One question, does each environment produce its own _G table? I really do hope c0ff gets a chance to streamline this multi-environment approach into something a little easier & less costly to use.
  7. You have to pass the whole table using loadstring! is there no C++ pointer type system in Lua, I'll have to have a scan through my lua book later.
  8. Yeh, never thought of that. I take it you tried it and it works? A lot of effort either way.
  9. Using deploy to template will only move any group of units for about 1 minute after which time they will stop. Only really good for deploying to a formation or to loop units on a short patrol (again max 1 min between moves).
  10. SA-6 convoys.
  11. I've trawled through god knows how many files looking to solve the weapons menu truncation. All I manged to find was the lua code that adds the "..." at the end but no stringlength constant. Anyone else, any ideas?
  12. No worries, its just something I've used & you don't have to check if units are alive AND check trigger zones. Posted yesterday but DCS Server went down as I posted. Fly to diff base to rearm worked for me in prev patches so its obviously something nerfed in the code changes for patch 09.
  13. I would put a small 50m zone in the middle of the runway. Every time someone takes off a counter would increase. Alternatively for a mission start message place zone around whole airfield. --------------------------- e.g. 3 clients SC , unit 1 in zone , increase flag 10 by 1, set flag 1 true SC , unit 2 in zone , increase flag 10 by 1, set flag 2 true SC , unit 3 in zone , increase flag 10 by 1, set flag 3 true SC , unit 1 dead & flag1 true, decrease flag 10 by 1, set flag 1 false SC , unit 2 dead & flag1 true, decrease flag 10 by 1, set flag 2 false SC , unit 3 dead & flag1 true, decrease flag 10 by 1, set flag 3 false ONCE flag 10 more than 2 , whatever action you intend // i.e. all 3 units are alive and are in OR have passed through trigger zone.
  14. Ahh ok, I used Sony Soundforge in my first miz & had to tweak the various included effects to create my own. I stole the click from the DCS files (sshhh). Your walkie talkie>High Pass ATC sounds better than my effort. I did however add a pilot Oxygen Mask comm effect which worked quite well. Like I said great effort which only adds to the immersion & SA in my opinion. Wannabe - click on link in first post, click on download, click save, click save as type menu drop down and select all files, after filename add .miz , save it in your dcsA10c missions folder or wherever you like, just navigate to it when loading it.
  15. I took a mates Joystick apart when his TMS stoppped working. A wire to the switch had come away from the solder. Re-soldered it and bingo it works again. Its pretty tight in there and caution is advised but wouldn't hurt to open up your throttle or stick and check it out. It might be an easy fix.
  16. please explain ! I liked the article as it largely backed up with graphical data. Are you saying the data is inaccurate also? btw your system is not much more extreme than mine so please share your settings also as I'd love to get your kind of frame rates.
  17. A great miz DH. Flew it with a mate (2 Ship) and we almost ran out of ammo before completing it (my wingie did use his aim9Ls on 1 target!), pretty intense! Great thing was I only used the targeting pod once on way to WP1 and flew the whole miz at low-level with 'heads out'. Getting a little tired of missions with SAMs everywhere, the DCS A10 just isn't equiped or have the power to deal with them, so your miz was a refreshing and challenging change! Will definately fly it again in the future when my memory starts to wain. p.s. btw Excellent comms, sounded very professional. What software are you using?
  18. Very interesting article here :- http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/radeon-geforce-stutter-crossfire,2995.html
  19. I really would hope that either the testers or the Devs have a complete set of missions that they can run to test the ME's generated code & the various AI units behaviour.
  20. Very nice find LO. I had something similar with the advanced checkboxes for flags (even though you unchecked it for false, next time you opened the tab it was checked again but still meant false).
  21. Some time ago I went trawling through their lua library files and it did look like there was some references to network code in the comms. I can only assume that it was deemed not a priority and resources were moved to other problem areas. I'm pretty sure they will sort this out as it will only continue to benefit future DCS aircraft releases (it will be portable code after all).
  22. As soon as you start filling your external tanks if they are pressurised then the fuel in them will immediately start transfering to your internal tanks (the only question is the rate which I do not know). Even if your main&wings are full, provided you have the ext tank switches ON, then your external fuel will deplete first. See my prev post if you don't want to fill to full but want to empty the externals. You appear to be complicating this more than it needs to be. There are very few reasons to jettison your externals on a AAR trail, the main one being engine failure/shutdown. In which case IRL the tanker if required would assist you to a suitable diversion or change the refueling brackets accordingly.
  23. From the narrative you've provided & the diagram of the fuel system in the wiki its not clear if there is way to stop the refueling of external tanks. I'd be surprised if there wasn't a way mainly due to the fact that if one external tank refused to accept fuel for any reason, you wouldn't want the other filling up. You might have to however if you were on a trail and didn't want to become tanker dependant. Shouldn't really matter. Although I haven't tried this myself in DSC, in theory if you latch in ALL of the fill disable switches only the externals will fill. Disconnect from tanker at required fuel uplift, then switch on the External tank switches to pressurise the external tanks. All of the fuel from the externals should transfer to the main & wing tanks. Once complete switch off the ext tank switches.
  24. O god it'll be 32 players all jumping around the aircraft hanger spawn point (teamkilling if enabled) typing stupid messages as they go. I really hope they come up with a system that can address that.
