Just ppl venting a little frustration. I'm sure if you couldn't get Beta to work you'd be letting off a few flares on the forum.

I think the technology is there for VR HMDs now especially with the OLED screens around. But we're back to wearing something (possibly cumbersome or uncomfortable) on your head again. Not to mention the headaches you'll get from having a full colour, hi-res screen and inch from your eyes. Personally, I'd like something along the lines of this Only 2 HD 1080p projectors were used. When higher def affordable projectors come mainstream then you'll be sweet. I guess it might take up just a little more room than a HMD though...hehe.

Yep like all badly maintained Martin Baker ejection seats, one has to pull the handle 3 times to make it work, by which time its too late

Why are you using the ADI when there is a perfectly good HUD in front of you?

Won't be too long until the currently hacked Microsoft Kinetic will provide us with something a lot better than trackIr5. Imagine, not only head tracking but hand and even finger tracking. It will require an API from ED to allow finger tracking to select switches though. I do wonder though if the facetracking software you guys are using will work with the kinetic?

Theres a lot of bandwidth traffic shaping that goes on in the UK. Try and find a provider that doesnt hammer you with shaping at peak times. I think plusnet were quite good here as they have their own gaming servers if I remember rightly. However, like MrYenko says, its the ping that matters most for DCS MP. Try a broadbandspeed test to check it out.

-The masks depending on aircraft type usually drop between 10,000ft and 13,000 ft well before the crew would have become hypoxic. -Majority of Civilian pilots do not do Pressure chamber runs. I posted a link earlier to the accident report, if you are interested read it. All of your questions will be answered. There is a moral to it all though 'DON'T ASSUME... CHECK'. That was drilled into my forehead during military training.

I hear the Navy throw great parties

Sure, but we were talking about the B737 and not a c141b.

When you do your walkround prior to flight the outflow valves are in the fully open position. The outflow valves dont usually close until the aircraft passes a certain speed during the take-off roll or when the weight on wheels switch activates indicating aircraft is airborne. As for the checklists on the 737 in question when airborne regarding outflow valve/pressurisation checks ... Í dont know. Need a 737 driver..

Absolutely. Any aircraft accident is a tradegy. There was also a Doctor onboard the Helios flight who will have known the symptoms of hypoxia. Its one thing to sit in a chamber knowing whats about to happen and another to realise whats happening for real on a 'routine' flight.

Well said ARM505 I'd like to see how the 'can't be that difficult' posters operate after 3 back to back 12 hour night duties, or a 20 hour ULR (Ultra Long Range) flight. Even Approach and landing the aircraft becomes a much more difficult task under these circumstances and I challenge any sleep deprived person to have the spare mental capacity to realise that he/she is suffering from the symptoms of hypoxia. In the end its the aircrafts warning systems that will save you. In fact I'd go as far to say that your average overworked airline pilot might spend some of his rostered month feeling in a constant state of hypoxia. An accident is usually a result of more than 1 factor. It is rarely so cut and dry. Anyway, my 2c. For those who want to know what happened to Helios 522 then click here. and ... spare a thought for the golfer Payne Stewart, his flight lasted less than 14 mins as far as he was concerned! link

As was the whole TM warthog HOTAS

I'm providing an Acronym checklist..See inside
Druid_ replied to Avatar72's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Welcome to the world of aviation which, for some reason, is inundated with TLAs (Three Letter Acronyms) -

FOR THROTTLE -Go into DCS, Options/Controls/ select Throttle Common from Action list/ select AXIS TUNE button fron bottom. -Tick Slider -Move Curvature so that 30 is displayed in window / click OK FOR JOYSTICK -Go into DCS, Options/Controls/ select Pitch from Action list / select AXIS TUNE button fron bottom. -Slider,invert should be unticked (user curve also unless you know what yr doing) -Move Curvature slider to 10. (start at 10 and increase it if it still too sensitive for you). -Do above again for Roll from Action list. Hope that helps. It a starting point but I would recommend playing around with these settings to suit you. See my prev post here if you are still having problems with AAR .

Look forward to Gold and your finalised profile. Nice job!

What documentation is this? The Tornado in my experience never took fuel at anything above 800 kgs/min, and was even less when filling up the fin tank. The Phantom F4 however, 2000kgs/min was possible, marvellous aircraft!

I have played around with this for a bit and a few things that might help .. 1) Formate on the tanker to one side. Once you have nailed his speed - TRIM 2) Once you have done your checks, ready pre-contact 3) Move smoothly behind tanker 4) Put gun pipper just above boom wings on boom. 5) Move in slowly, at 10ft from boom, engage autopilot (I was using a crappy x52 joystick on this occasion, the TM Hog is fine without AP) 6) Re-trim if req'd but make sure you are stable with 4) above 7) At about 6ft boom operator wakes up and boom raises into position 8] DON'T LOOK at boom, follow centre line of tanker 9) Move in slowly, boom operator will guide in and .... 10) 'contact' your taking fuel. 11) try and keep boom 'green' section exposed. Amber = do something, red = bad. Don't be to aggressive on the throttles, I think the correct word here is ANTICIPATE. I use a max of 4% fan speed throttle changes....usually. Have fun !! (using the autopilot isn't cheating in my opinion, its down to the quality of your HOTAS and the limitations of stick force and feedback that only exists IRL).

A couple of things I noticed:- - the frequency for the tanker (e.g. 131.0) has to be FM and NOT AM for the comms to work for me. - According to the a10a Flight Manual, the tanker will automatically disconnect if excessive fuel pressure occurs in the receiver fuel manifold. Don't know if this is modelled. - I would like to know what the refuel rate is for the a10. For aircraft like the Phantom with large diameter plumbing it was 2000kgs/min, the Tornado with weight saving plumbing was closer to 700kgs/min. Looking at Warzens.. video, it look like about 2500lbs /min

My mistake, I didn't check in this section. Maybe moderator can delete thread? I'll post in correct place.

If there's a good wind blowing from the right direction they shouldn't run down completely. Conversely a tailwind will cause the run down time to decrease (then rotate in the opp direction).

Its from those jealous Apache drivers and their keys. Who you calling ancient!
