  1. Is that possible? Something like that would be cool, I think. Or some way to tell the auto-updater to leave the \DCS World\Config\View folder alone, unless there was a reason to update it. I bet out of all the folders, that one gets edited by users the most (or at least it's pretty high up there).
  2. hi - does this mean that if I put, for example, my Config/View folder in the SavedGames directory I won't have to keep going into the _backup folders and copying my modified view.lua files and such back into the main game directory? Copying them back from _backup folders isn't that big a deal in the grand scheme, but it would be nice to not have to do it every time. thanks.
  3. Maybe it's another placebo effect, but I could swear that it's much easier spotting other aircraft from the cockpit now. Seems like you can see them from a little further away, and they look just a bit 'fuller' to me. I love it, even been switching off my custom little dot "." labels sometimes. Maybe that's just how it's been all along in DCS world, but I just haven't done any air-to-air so haven't noticed it? Or maybe I'm crazy? (got FC3 so I've been in the F-15) Also, watching the burners kick on from other aircraft, even if they're pretty far away looks awesome. Although I guess this could be another thing that was always there but just didn't notice flying a-10 (got FC3 so I've been in the F-15).
  4. I've had a few ctd's as well with the f-15, seems to happen when locking up a target. Just now it happened in the 'clean sweep' mission.
  5. So far that's the only campaign, hopefully later (after beta status maybe?) there will be some more. In terms of single player content, it's looking pretty thin now unfortunately (compared to FC2).
  6. Yes it's in the View.lua http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=72409
  7. Same here.
  8. I'm at 1.2.1.6120 and while my frames are a little better, they're still not back up to where they were. Also, anyone notice a little 'chugging' along of the terrain when flying down low? Almost like the old original il-2 problem for those that might remember. Even at around 30fps the ground gives little 'hitches', like. Things just aren't as smooth as they were. Running with the settings that I used to before, everything on high, no of the tssaa, just 4x msaa in the options and latest nvidia is set to 'application controlled'. i7 at 4.3, 580gtx, 8 gigs of ram, win7. Posted over at simhq as well, just wanted to make a report, glad you're working on it and I'm sure it'll get figured out-
  9. I'm wondering about this too (and hoping for less like Georgian Hammer and more like Deployment or Revanche). One of the guys over at simhq is testing the campaign now, so maybe they'll do a little preview or something before release.
  10. cool, thanks Nate!
  11. Thanks HiJack! I was hoping to get an 'official' reply, but it really doesn't matter I guess as I'll find out eventually when I try to install FC3 - just curious and looking forward to it is all.
  12. As a single player guy, I was happy most happy to see this - New F-15C campaign and single missions. FC2 had a good amount of single player content, hopefully it will continue in FC3 Also, asked previously but not answered (definitively, at least) If I have FC2 installed, but not Lock on anymore, will FC3 install? I'm sure I could dig up my lockon disc again if I have to, I'd just rather not. Thanks!
  13. Sorry if this has been answered definitively/officially, but if so I didn't see it. "Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 3 will require an installation of Lock On: Modern Air Combat or a previous version Flaming Cliffs" Does this mean if we have FC2 installed we won't need to install lock on? I mean, FC2 is a 'previous version' of Flaming Cliffs, right? Just trying to figure out if I should get my copy of lockon reinstalled, or if I'm Ok with having just FC2 installed. Thanks!
  14. Just wanted to say great mission! Played it tonight (as a single player with an ai wingman) and really enjoyed it. Great atmosphere with all the audio work, really fun. Made it pretty far along but then got tagged (by a manpad, I think).
  15. I love how configurable the labels are in this sim. One more thing I wish you could do was affect the transparency, so you could have them fade in and fade out as you like.
  16. Another little bump - I know it's not high priority or anything, but it would still be great if someday the su-25t pilot and wingmen could speak in Russian (or Russian accented English, like in Black Shark 2). Funny how I've now got Warthog, Mustang and BS2 all set up in DCS World, and the first thing I do is start flying the su-25t!
  17. I'm trying to install BS version 1.2.0 and running into a similar thing, setup says "black shark 1 must be installed and activated". My launcher for the original black shark gives an error "cannot open .\BlackShark.lua: No such file or directory", but I do have a BlackShark.lua in the folder. When I run the 'protect.exe' in the original black shark, it tells me that the game is already activated. I have Warthog and Mustang 1.2.0 running in DCS World with no problems so far. -- actually, wait. I found my original black shark game download on a backup harddrive, installed it right on top of my existing 'ka-50' folder and then was able to run BS version 1.2.0 and it went into DCS World just fine. Weird but at least it worked... it's nice having them all in the "World".
  18. Hi - Noticed this in dcs warthog sometimes, now in dcs world as well so I figured I'd post in this forum (apologies if it's known already). Happened at the beginning of the Su-25 Georgian oil war campaign, and then just now when I started Georgian Hammer (Push 1-3.miz). On the runway, my #2 was calling out a bandit, and before wheels up he had called out an armor target for 15 and an air defense target for 22 miles (good eyes!). The bandits were 2 su-25s that weren't anywhere near us. Both of these campaigns have relatively short distances before targets, maybe that has something to do with it? I've been playing other single missions and some missions from another a-10 campaign, and haven't noticed this happening. While I'd rather have my AI wingy be too good rather than the opposite, it feels a little silly when he's calling out targets the second he's off the ground (or before). Thanks for checking it out when you can.
  19. I like that they're planning on working on "...terrain and combat theater region buildings" and not just aircraft! (of course those aircraft are great too)
  20. ha! guess not then. looks neat.
  21. Not quite an explosion, but I was wondering - have buildings always been able to catch on fire, or is this new to DCS World? Was just flying the Su-25t attack quick mission, and accidentally (really!) hit a building with some rockets while going after a line of bradlys... one side of it burned with a pretty large fire effect that I'm not sure I've seen before, lots of smoke too, then on my second or third pass the building was a burnt out shell. Looked cool, I'm wondering is that a new effect to "World", or just something I've never noticed before?
  22. cool! Thanks for the info.
  23. Just felt like giving this a bump; been flying the su-25t in DCS World (a lot more than I thought I would!) and it would be cool if the comms were in Russian. Or even in Russian accented English, like in BS2. Come to think of it, maybe when BS2 is in DCS World that wouldn't be big problem to do (or maybe it's already implemented? I have the upgrade BS2 so I can't check it out yet).
  24. Too bad, but thanks for the info - another reason to look forward to FC3!
