  1. hi - I gave it a shot, but I'm not sure it's enough of a difference/improvement for me. Now that I've thought about it, I might not be asking the right question though- after I've played around for a bit with rgb values, I think what I need is not necessarily a different color, but a "less transulent" looking HUD, if you know what I mean.... something more 'solid' was a good suggestion to at least 'try it out' though, it's easy enough to play around with the values trying to find something that works for me, so thanks!
  2. I've been wondering about that too, the HUD almost becomes invisible for me when over a light background (clouds for example). thanks!
  3. hi, just noticed the same thing as Raven434th. (yesterday was the first time I've had a chance to continue my a-10 campaign since installing the patch). very hard to lock anything up.
  4. ok I see - thanks.
  5. element1108, would you mind letting me know what OS/Graphics card you have?
  6. Cool, thanks again.
  7. Interesting, thanks for the information - I was wondering why the "use these options for all missions" wasn't working for me sometimes. I'm guessing the same procedure would be required with campaign (as opposed to single) missions?
  8. Hi - Just wanted to mention I've had some similar situations, and I'm not entirely sure the "Use these options for all missions" box works exactly the way it's intended to. I have labels ticked in the Game Options screen and "Use these options for all missions" ticked as well - on the majority of the missions it works fine, but occasionally I'll play a mission and will not have any labels (one of the a-10 single missions comes to mind, I can't remember the name right now). I opened the mission in the editor, played around looking for options, ticked off labels from within the editor and when I flew the mission from there I had labels.
  9. Thanks c0ff for posting the link to that sound faq, I had missed that. I've added these two lines sound.cockpit_world_volume = 2.6 sound.cockpit_world_lowpass = 5000 to the top of my 'autoexec.cfg' in the Config folder, and have (for me at least) a good mix - maybe not realistic, but if it saves me forgetting to stop auto-dispensing flares, I can live with it!
  10. well, it turns out I haven't really figured it out - I can get the mini-stick to move the tdc (as posted above), but the cursor doesn't stay where you put it, it constantly re-centers itself bringing the cursor (or the camera on the seeker screen) back to the middle as soon as you let go of the stick.
  11. Thanks for posting this tip, I've been going crazy trying to get that to work!
  12. Figured it out, just had to choose "joy x" and "joy y" and use the column for the pro throttle. those were the only axis's I didn't pick, figuring (incorrectly) I couldn't use them.
  13. hi -FC2 is great so far, flew around for a bit and now trying to get myself situated. I'm trying to get the TDC slew assigned to an axis, specifically the 'mini-stick' on my ch pro throttle. When choosing the axis, there are a bunch of different ones to choose from (joy_arx, joy_ax) I've tried almost all and I can't get it going. I'm using my ch (fighterstick & pedals as well as throttle) in "direct" mode, have basic flight controls working fine. thanks!
  14. 4 campaigns? sweet! just finished my download, lots of cool stuff to check out - thanks ED
  15. I was having some annoying sound problems with win7 64 and my creative x-fi card, after some searching around I gave the 'creative alchemy' software a shot http://connect.creativelabs.com/alchemy/default.aspx and things are working like they used to. I didn't have your exact problem (mine involved hearing external jet sounds in the cockpit sometimes, so loud it blocked out any other sounds, sound sliders didn't seem to work) but I don't think it would hurt to give it a try.
  16. thanks, I'm sure you're right. just was hoping not to, as I've only recently got flaming cliffs reinstalled on my new machine.
  17. hi - not to hijack a hijack, but I was wondering... if I already have lock-on plus flaming cliffs installed, with a bunch of mods, what will my FC 2.0 install procedure be like? Do I need to have a "clean" install of flaming cliffs 1.12 for flaming cliffs 2.0 to install from? Or would uninstalling all the mods via modman be enough? I'm sure this will all be explained soon enough in a readme, I'm just curious... thanks-
  18. cool, glad you like it and it's giving you a little boost. I wish I knew why I have to have it installed in order to not get those super long load times. But since its working again, I think (for now) I'll just leave well enough alone and resist the urge to tinker.
  19. I had a funny thing happen the other day with Black Shark, it's probably a long shot but I thought I'd post on the off chance it will work. I bought the english download a few months ago, and it had been playing fine on my system (c2d e8400, 4gigs of ram, xpsp2, gtx285) since I bought it. I took a little break from playing, and when I came back to the sim last week the load times took forever - like what you guys are experiencing, 10 minutes. Before it was a minute, two tops. Game didn't run that great either, lots of stuttering (which I never had before). Spent a while trying to figure out what I had changed to cause this problem (thought maybe a new driver I had installed?) but what fixed it (and I don't know why) was re-installing a program called "cacheman". It's a little program to help manage the memory on your system (basically to try and squeeze a little more preformance out of a lower memory machine). I took it off the computer because while doing a little system clean-up I realized I probably didn't need it to be running it anymore (since I have 4 gigs now). Anyway, I really don't know why, but as soon as I reinstalled cacheman on my machine the long load times disappeared, as did the stuttering. Went back to a normal. Not sure you can even run cacheman on vista, but figured it might be worth a shot - 10 minutes is a long time to wait!
