  1. I joined the 104th server the other night; first attempt at MP with FC2. I took off and flew a bit and after a short while realized none of my key commands worked anymore. I couldn't change master modes, couldn't turn auto-pilot off, etc. I could fly the plane with the stick and throttle, but all key inputs were ineffective. I couldn't even ESC quit. IIRC, I crashed to see if it would let me exit, and ended up killing it with Task Manager. Any ideas? EDIT: Panzertard provided a workaround for this issue here. You just have to tap RCtrl each time after sending a chat message to the team channel. Also, Crunch suggested mapping team chat to something else to avoid having to tap RCtrl. I think this is a bug, i.e. it not exiting that mode after you hit ENTER to send the message, but at least there's a workaround.
  2. Someone else posted this and the reply I saw was that you have to wait for them to get to the parking area before you leave. I believe they said they flew around within the airport's airspace until the plane got to its parking spot and then left. Must be a trigger for that.
  3. Great tool! I'm new to the LO series and ModMan. What's the recommended procedure if you want to make changes to files which are changed by other mods? For example, I have the 6DOF mod installed which modifies Config/View.lua. I'd like to also change View.lua to set the roll head shaking variable to false. Should I use ModMan to install the 6DOF mod and then just directly change the file myself?
  4. also that port forward site has a nice test utility. once you've forwarded the ports, you can run a test to veirfy they're open. note that sometimes it reports failures i think just due to latency. so if it says its NOT forwarded, click it a few more times. nice way to test things out before you load the sim up.
  5. I think FC2 is what broke up that schedule plan. However, it makes sense. With FC2, they've brought the aircraft of LOFC up into the DCS engine and with the multiplayer compatibility patch coming soon they'll have a multiplayer environment with BS plus the aircraft from LOFC2. Then they can move forward by adding high-fi aircraft (along the lines of BS). First A-10c, then something else. Seems like a reasonable roadmap to end up eventually with a DCS environment with all the aircraft modelled to the same level as BS.
  6. in that case, maybe it was because I touched down right near the end of the runway which put him before the runway. so I guess you need to account for this in the landing and just land a bit beyond the end of the runway to ensure he has room to get down.
  7. I'm new to LO and tried a brief mission the other day in the A-10. On the landing, I noticed the wingman right in formation with me on final with gear down, flaps down, etc. I thought that was odd. He just flew right into the ground as I touched down! I guess the wingman AI needs to be specifically told to RTB! I suppose that could be called fratricide. Pretty dumb wingman though :)
  8. add a "freeze" mode. this is a feature in Falcon which comes in very handy. like pause, it stops the action, but unlike pause, you can still interact with the avionics. so you can cycle through settings, etc. handy while learning a new sim.
  9. I tried downloading the modman compatible packaged version of this from lockonfiles and its just a broken link.
  10. see the below link. http://portforward.com/cports.htm scroll down to DCS Black Shark.
  11. yes, although its described as an update to an addon (FC) to LOMAC, its really a completely stand-alone product. I'm not even sure why they need to verify you have LOMAC at all since it doesn't need or use LOMAC. as was said, once you get FC2 installed you can just remove LOMAC and just have BS and FC2 installed, each in their own directory. they're supposed to be online compatible, but I think this is going to require a patch which ED said is incoming.
  12. I tried the ED download initially and the speed was poor and it reset. I use the torrent and just let it run overnight and it was done by morning. I'd reccommend the torrent. At least it won't get 80% done and then fail and make you start over :)
  13. interesting, thanks for the info Blaze! I would have thought with the move forward to FC2 and references to BS in the product info that 3D clickable pits might be a possibility. sounds like based on your research they are, ED just decided not to put them in for the release in the pits they provide.
  14. nope. I tried and it complained it couldn't find lock on 1.1. I've never had LOMAC or FC installed though. so I think you need to wait, install LOMAC, and then install FC2.
  15. its a reasonable question to ask. if you look at the FC2 product info page it refers to it as a further evolution of the product, it talks about it being in the same world environment and having the same game functionality as BS. so whether or not the pit is actually clickable arises naturally as a question, that's all. not being familiar with LOMAC myself, but ordering it to try out FC2, I watched the videos, read the product info and since I have some experience with BS I thought perhaps they did take it and add a clickable pit. I had the same question, especially after watching the video of the full 6DOF pit enabled with the mod to the config files. you could research it and learn that LOMAC and FC did not have clickable pits, but that doesn't meant they didn't enable that for FC2. of course, as it turns out, no they haven't. if you want that, look to the DCS series.
  16. redbat, I don't think its the best they can do, its the best they're going to do with the LOMAC series I think. they have the new DCS series with BS being the first installment that they're promoting as a higher fidelity sim. The higher fidelity, full 3D clickable pit is definitely there in BS (I know I've flown it a bit) and I have to assume it'll be there in the A-10 module as well.
  17. yes, shame on the OP for asking the question!
  18. apparently that gives you 6DOF movement which is cool, but you don't get a full 3d clickable pit. I think you need to look to BS and future modules (A-10) for that.
  19. I'm not an expert on the LOMAC/FC series, but it seems to me all you need is the below for whats changed in FC2. http://lockon.co.uk/index.php?end_pos=1671&scr=default
  20. imagine that, needing a credit card for an online purchase! I tried pushing cash into my computer's disk drive, but for some reason it just didn't work :megalol:
  21. yes, BS can be a beast to fly; takes lots of practice just to get to where you can takeoff, fly a pattern and land. chuck norris flies BS and doesn't need no stinking trim button :)
  22. mikesla, if the choice was between buying a DRM version and maybe paying a little extra for a non-DRM version, I think I'd pay for the non-DRM version. however, if the only choice is the DRM version or not buying the game at all then you simply have to make the decision based on which is worse, putting up with the DRM, or not playing the game at all. there isn't only 1 right answer to the above. the right answer depends on the individual and their level of interst in the product I suppose :)
  23. you mean your throttle is more sensitive in some positions and less in others? as I understand the axis curvature you end up, not with less sensitivity overall, but just varying sensitivity based on position. so setting up a curve for the flight stick means you can put small initial inputs in from center. anyway, whatever works for ya :)
