Is there any official word about solving the Shkval FPS issue?
coder1024 replied to isoul's topic in Bugs and Problems
well I bet if the real Su-25T *DID* have zero zoom the frame rate of the world didn't drop anytime any Su-25T pilot turned on their screen  -
folder name/location doesn't matter, just put the setup executable and data files in some folder and run setup. I believe it'll check for a registry entry indicating LO is installed, and then proceed with FC2 installation.
-
FC2 is a stand-alone product. When you try and install FC2 it does need to check to see that you have LO installed. But it doesn't use LO nor do you install it on top of it. You have to install LO so that the FC2 installer will proceed. Once FC2 is installed you can remove LO as its only used for the installation check.

are you unable to download the downloadable version?

I've got a really old CPU, a Pentium D which was their first dual core I believe. But I've upgraded the power supply, the video card (EVGA GeForce 9800 512MB RAM), and the sound card (SB Audigy eXtreme I think) and it runs BS no problem. Old CPU, but new video card and sound card. I also have 4GB RAM and run games from a 10k raptor drive.

is the DRM going to be the same for the download vs. the DVD version? if so, then you could just buy the download version and burn it to your own DVD and be just as good. if, however, the DRM is gone on the DVD version then that'd be another story. Just not sure what the benefit is of having them master a disc vs just burning your own.

well, the DRM with BS and FC2 was pretty painless. I installed, pasted in my key from the order info, and was good to go. I've installed BS multiple times and installed FC2 on multiple machines, and had no issue. Just paste in the code and it activates. You could run out of activations eventually, but you can probably get more if needed. the DRM hasn't negatively impacted either sim for me.

this isn't about A-10, its about BS. BS is an awesome product even without this feature, imo, but it is reasonable to want tree cover in a helo sim. I was a bit surprised when I found out about this awhile back. as I understand the DCS series, their goal is to have a system with multiple modules each providing another high-fidelity aircraft. so the engine will continue to evolve, and maybe this feature will find its way in there at some point. clearly BS is not abandonware, we already know they're working on a patch for it which will include online compatibility with FC2. so, no, BS isn't going anywhere and BS will be a prominent part of the overal modular sytem of DCS. its just a matter of time/resource/priority as to when/if they'll be able to address this.

A10 and BS future interaction features
coder1024 replied to chromium's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
I recall seeing a comment from ED concerning whether or not the new A-10C sim would be online compatible with BS and/or FC2 and their response was just that it was too early yet to say how A-10C would fit into that. I would think the intent would be that A-10C would be online compatible with BS and FC2. They're having to patch BS to make that work so who knows, maybe it'll also be a post-release patch for FC2/BS and/or A-10. I think its the same evolving engine and so there's a chance that with a new sim, the prior renditions have to get updated to match. -
so what about all those players who fly both? :)
-
so with this addon is there combat? or just a simulation of the various aircraft systems/flight/etc? EDIT: No combat; maybe its a limitation of the FSX engine.
-
How could that not be a bug? I doubt any actual aircraft would work that way.

Seems like the new A-10 HOTAS from Thrustmaster would really be worth looking at. Obviously for the pairing with the new DCS A-10 module, but beyond that just as a really high quality HOTAS. I'm also on an X-45 and have considered upgrading for awhile now. With the new A-10 HOTAS on the way I'm considering it :) Not sure yet.

Perfect stick for A-10C from Thrustmaster?

Looks nice! -
well, FC2 is a new release. no reason not to point it out. you never know :)

I've noticed (I was in A-10 MP) I had to hit "1" for the range to the current SP to update as well in the HUD. It only seems to update range when in mode "1". When switched to "7" for A/G the range is frozen and doesn't update. The nav data should be updating all the time I would think regardless of which mode you're in (range to SP in HUD, HSI, etc) and I can't see any reason it wouldn't let you switch steerpoints when not in mode 1. I'm guessing these are just bugs.

see the below. that might be the same issue I had. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=52360

No problem; No sense in breaking things. Just a good reason to go learn the 25T then :)

Any chance of adding more A-10 slots? :) They always seem to fill up.

Next DCS (US) Fixed Wing Aircraft Wish List
coder1024 replied to diecastbg's topic in DCS Core Wish List
Falcon sims are pretty well covered, you've got the Falcon variants. FF5.3 is not all that dated actually. F4AF is a bit older in terms of the latest patch, but its a solid MP sim. Falcon has the dynamic campaign which makes it still a very capable sim. So I don't know if I'd agree with just dismissing the existing Falcon sims as "the dated Falcon sim" ;) -
I'd guess they're still working on getting multiplayer compatibility going between FC2 and BS which I believe will require a patch on the BS side.

I didn't remove any screws. I used a qtip and just moved the stick to its extreme and put the grease right on the plastic where the 2 pieces of plastic interface. So I'd move it all the way right and hold it there and put the grease on, then move it all the way left, etc. Then you just move it through its range a bit to get the grease spread out. As for the 8 screws, if you mean the ones on the ring around the stick, there are only 4. It looks like 8, but half of them are just decorative there are only 4 actual screws. Taking them off doesn't reveal anything, its just attaching the decorative ring. I think you need to remove the other big screws around the edge to get in and work on it. I haven't tried it yet, but I do have some looseness there giving me a sizeable physical dead-zone and I was thinking about trying to open it up to see if there's something I could tighten internally.

I'm also using an X-45. I just bought a tube of silicone grease from radio shack and used that to lube the X-45. Worked well and smoothed out the movement. For awhile I had used a zip tie to hold a couple of the springs together. This provided less resistance on the motion, but I've since taken those off as they would bind occasionally. I haven't noticed any of the nose up behavior you mentioned in FC2 though. Double-check your axis tune on each axis.

I think having FC2/BS multiplayer compatibility will be awesome, not necessarily so you can have a BS and fixed wing in the same flight as wingman, but so you can coordinate multiplayer packages with a flight of BS and a flight of fixed wing to work together.
