  1. There seems to be an issue with the canned UH-1H takeoff training mission. It works fine up to the point of throttling up. Once the engine/RPMs get to their standard values however the mission does not continue ... just seems stuck at that point. I've tried the mission multiple times and tried throttling down and then back up to max (slowly, and also quickly). Even took off and landed and then tried to cycle the throttle again. No go. Anyone else having that problem on that mission?
  2. I've had BS2 for a while and of course have done numerous changes to the keybindings for my controllers. I recently installed a new pc and will be putting BS2 on it. My question is ... what file and/or folders do I need to transfer from the old pc to the new one to preserve my keybindings profile?
  3. A lot of the Heritage Flight footage I see include the A-10, the P-51, and several over aircraft from WWII vintage to modern design. Well ... the P-51 is coming to DCS ... so between that and the A-10 we have the beginnings of our very own Heritage Flight. :) So .... who would like to help put this together? :pilotfly:
  4. Found the problem with the tanker. The airspeed was set for the waypoints but I hadn't changed it for the Orbit task in the Advanced section of the waypoint. Problem solved. A 2nd evening of refueling (at the correct speed this time) amounted to the same thing. Was able to fill the plane from 40% to full with only a couple of brief disconnects. Problem solved! :)
  5. So I did a quick test tonight. I modified the tanker to fly at around 220 for all legs of its flight instead of the sluggish 180 it had been going. However when I got in the sim and approached the tanker it was STILL going 180. Will have to figure out what's happening with that. :joystick: But time was limited so I said the heck with it ... may as well just try again. I used Tailgate's picture above as a reference, ignored the HUD and ...... hooked up with no problem. I didn't stay connected all in one shot, mind you, I think I disconnected around 3 times but I connected right back up again within about 10-15 seconds each time and continued again to take on fuel. I went from 40% to around 85% and I'm confident that I could have hooked back up again to finish it off if I had wanted. I did have a few instances of PIO but it wasn't enough to disconnect. Most of the disconnects were just a little too slow in the anticipation of the throttle changes needed after connection. I had to remember to breathe, and I still had a bit of an over-firm grip on the stick ... but not the grip of death like before. All in all not too bad for only practicing a total of maybe 3 hr flight time behind the tanker over a few days. Thanks to everyone in this thread for their advice (I read all 19 pages of it). Of course .. then there is always the challenge of doing it at night ... but I think I will stick to practicing it during the daytime for now. :)
  6. Ok. My X axis is 15, Y axis is 22, Throttle axis is 0 for the curve. But I don't think my throttle is the problem ... I match speed and then bump it for like a second or so and back it back down in order to creep into position. From looking at videos I think my problems are a) the tanker was going too slow in the mission, and b) I was probably too high relative to the tanker so was flirting with the booms upper gimbal limit. Will try more testing tomorrow night.
  7. I have the same problems as others do ... where I can get into position but I get disconnected only a few seconds after connecting even tho I am trimmed as close as possible and I appear to be spot on with the throttle and don't hardly touch the controls. I will check my curve settings later tonight. However, I do notice one thing that I don't think has been covered as of yet. The tanker is going 180 knots. As a result it has probably a good 10-15 degrees pitch up just to hold altitude. I'm wondering if this could possibly be throwing things off? Should I have the tanker going at a faster connect speed in order to have a more level profile? 200? Or is this hookup speed normal? It seems odd to be hooking up with the tanker pitched that far back ... which then rotates its underbelly away from the A-10 and thus reduces the visibility of the position lights.
  8. Yeah that did it. I through a few fuel trucks and air defense on the airbase and the ground crew responds right away. It's always the simple things that trip you up the most. heh
  9. I have the P-47 A2A product. While the flight modeling is excellent it did NOT work terribly well with Track IR Pro 5 (was VERY twitchy with it) and there were also a few other aspects which appeared bugged. When I contacted their customer support I got pretty much NO help whatsoever. I would expect that for a $20 piece o crap arcade-like piece of software but NOT for what they are charging. It got to the point that I gave up trying to contact them and stopped trying to fix it myself. If you won't stand behind your product ... what good is it? So I would say DCS will likely win this contest hands down as they DO stand behind their product 100%.
  10. I made a mission based at Kutaisi and when I attempt to contact the ground crew to rearm or refuel I get no response. My radio is set to INT and the HM and INT push buttons are pushed in as required. I've had no problems contacting ground crew in other locations. Are some airports just not equipped with rearming capabilities in the game? If so, would putting FARP units like in KA-50 at least give you that capability?
  11. Warrior, would power cycling the pylon and doing a DTS Load All possibly fix that?
  12. New mission added for A-10C and BS 2 simultaneous training.
  13. Ok then, last question. If I have a saved controller file from BS 1.0 ... can I copy that over to the appropriate folder for BS 2.0 and will it work or has the config changed such that it won't be compatible? It would really suck to have to redo all the keybindings.
  14. Didn't see this from earlier but maybe I just didn't see it. I programmed my keybindings directly in Black Shark 1.0 instead of through the software on my joystick. When I go to upgrade to BS 2.0 is it going to wipe out the game keybindings and set it back to default? If so, what file(s) do I need to backup prior to running the upgrade?
  15. In warrior X's instructions it states both lat and long are going to be 7 digit numbers and it states that for the E set you sometimes have to put in a leading zero. Does that mean the N set is ALWAYS going to be a set if 7 given to you, or will you sometimes need a leading zero there as well?
  16. Are there spaces in each set of numbers or is it just entered as a solid string of numbers?
  17. Ok will give that a try tomorrow. Will post here the results.
  18. I'm familiar with entering coord data given via JTAC but I have never done it in L/L format. I don't have Black Shark 2 as of yet but one of the members in my squadron has it and he says that he could feed me coords for targets he spots while beating around in the weeds ... but it is in L/L format. I booted up a training mission and tried entering location data in L/L format and used a procedure similar to the other format (just kept the type as L/L) ... but every time I enter it I get an error. I'm sure the procedure is fine ... I'm just not inputting the data in the correct format the CDU will understand as L/L. Does anyone know the format it wants?
  19. The dots and dashes are not meant to depict press duration (at least, that wasnt intentional) but there are labels in italics by most keypresses to denote what direction the control needs to be moved, and/or duration of the press. That is one thing I may color code.
  20. @glider. I had thought of that but I wanted for the student to see all the controls on any given page without the need to be flipping back and forth a lot within the document. I may incorporate colors though.
  21. So I've got a number of people who are just getting started with DCS A-10C in the virtual squadron I am in. I am one of two people in the squad who have significant flight time so far. One of the big hurdles is that some people learn faster than others, and some really need a visual guide. Of course, one of the things they have trouble with is the HOTAS and SOI. So I devised a more visual guide to the HOTAS. I'm attaching it here. Please check it out and see if there are any glaring flaws. This is free to distribute to anyone who would like more info on the HOTAS. All feedback is appreciated. Mods please move if this should be in another thread. HOTAS Guide.pdf
  22. Ok Nate, those changes worked. Thanks
  23. Those changes worked. Thank you!
  24. After reviewing all the pages of this thread I saw that and I went in and edited changes to that effect. Will test it shortly.
  25. I did a slight change to this mission last night which I have not yet had a chance to test today. The convoy was in the edge of a 'city' (an orange square area on the map, but didn't have any actual buildings in the area the trucks were in so LOS shouldn't have been an issue) ... but just to be safe I moved them half a klick to the outside edge of that zone. I changed the HUMVEE to a HUMVEE Armament (with instructions to hold fire) and moved it to about 0.5 km instead of 1km. Training Moving Targets LoDif JTAC Night_1.2.miz
