Operational approved load-outs only.

The buzz from our side is high as well. The technical post about what's going on with the jet under the hood is more welcome than a flashy style commercial. Looking good gentlemen. Looking good.

You are requesting an option for something that, you are not even sure is a problem for you yet. You'd have to play the game to know, and without an example of why this would be a problem for you, it feels like you're asking; I'd like you to change this, for a maybe. That's not an honest foundation from which to propose a change. People would respond differently if you were able to say, when I play this module, this happens to me.

This is great!! Yes yes and more yes. I love that this aspect of flying is included. There's more to it than just dropping bombs. Fantastic.

ED hasn't entertained fantasy load-outs before, and perhaps its best that way.

Now ya did it, can't put the genie back in the bottle ya know.

I wasn't predicting that my timeline was ED's timeline. Just theorycrafting how I might do things. We have updates on the Hornet regularly now, and this is good. HB is still keeping the buzz about their product as well. These are good things. All things in a perfect world, but building software, creating code is not the same as laying brick. We understand that naturally. Both ED and HB are good communicators with their customers. This is usually all that's needed to keep spirits positive.

No one to tell us no, or where to go....
-
As we all know any public post can receive public comments. If someone doesn't entirely disagree, the non-acceptance of a different point of view, or the idea that only one perspective should be discussed, would indeed be narrow-mindedness. No one can be forced to do anything from a forum post, and no one demanded that anyone behave a certain way here, or to not post anything. In the end, it's quite alright to get along with someone you may not agree with.

Using time advance corrupts the file.

Well...that makes two of us!:smilewink:

@aileron Whoops, rushed it before bed, thanks.

Everything I read about the development sounds right on target.

In the near future we will say goodbye to the Chromecat, but she's taken the team this far in creating a high fidelity sim, so a fitting farewell is in order.

HB has also said that Jester will not be as effective as a well practiced RIO.
-
Sound is often overlooked, but it's the most important factor. HB doesn't overlook this, and that's a great thing. Sound is always more important than visuals. It looks like HB is looking to set a benchmark on both fronts.

Awesome news. Thanks for the update and the videos! SRS integration from the start! Love it. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have some videos to re-watch.

Everything asked can be done as is without a player sitting in the RIO seat and the player pilot using Jester at the same time. Essentially having 3 "people" in the cockpit. All reasons given the way I see it can be accomplished with a person sitting in the back seat normally. Making movies can be done via the replay function. That's how it's usually done anyway. It seems to me that yours is a request to train with other players, but not engage with other players. Training, but without the other person doing anything, so the AI can do it. Playing together, but alone? If that's the way you'd like to play don't let me feel like I'm judging you. Have fun your way. For me, I won't be using to Tomcat to use Jester, and then asking people watch. I see The Tomcat as a multiplayer aircraft, and that's the way I will always treat it. If I want a single seat experience, I'll fly the Hornet. If someone is in the jet with me strictly for pilot training reasons, I can just as easy explain what's going on and train them in a similar way as pilots who were given check rides in real F-14's back in the day. Perhaps we can meet up in the sky one day, and see how it all works out.

Well I understand you. It would be hard to know which buttons are being pressed and when. You might hear them, and maybe see which button is being pressed, but only if looking in the right spot. If the passenger has no knowledge of the system this would be difficult to ascertain. Jester does not need a mouse cursor, so tracking where Jester is looking and when, is difficult. The only way to be able to do so reliably is to have system knowledge of the RIO position such that the next step could be assumed. At that point the training would not be required. If the purpose is purely as a passenger, for the fun of it all, while still on a mission and having all the capabilities while the extra person rides along, then that's not possible in any module. To do so, would stress the code, and could create unforeseen bugs in operation. Complex multicrew is still new in DCS, and something like that could break it all together. Like I said before, an individual can "see" from the RIO POV in the replay and not have to push any buttons and they will see all the things that Jester did while sitting back there. All replays work this way now. As long as the player does not interrupt, the replay file will show, changing HUD modes, switches, etc. Is it real time? No. But what you asking is already possible.
-
After the flight during the replay jump into any seat you like and you can ride along while everything happens around you. Other than that. Whats the difference between someone sitting there and someone not? The F-14 can only be flown from the front seat. Or is it you are asking for someone to be able to sit there without needing to work the radar or anything? Seems like an odd request to me.

TomCatMucDe asked if a video update was on track. People answered but no one answered his question.

Going down to a single pixel is more of a problem than it seems at first glance (pun intended). Anti-aliasing and shaders also must be considered. If an aircraft is only represented as a single pixel the shader logic might try to blend the pixel effectively making it disappear as the color of the pixel is blended into the background. This happens until the object is close/large enough to take up more pixels and be visible regardless of the aforementioned effects. How and when this happens and if there is a border around the object all play a factor in how visible an object is.

Understanding the pitfalls of distinction without a difference is important to a conducive conversation. To dispute a point context is required. To argue words used it isn't.

I would wager that with the amount of VR users exponentially higher than when the scaling was first implemented people will eagerly revisit the issue. This is apparent to how many VR users are using some sort of label mod. Name a WWII server that doesn't use the label mod. All the regulars do. As usual people will tinker with it, if its not ideal, but the functionality allowed from ED is what's needed to make good use of it. The current state of the engine, while it looks great, has a flaw. Many users and even youtubers feel the need to map a zoom control, or use a mod of some sort. How would you reconcile that market demand?

Correct me if I'm wrong but the grade comes from the Plat not the LSO platform irl. Thats just where the LSO stands, but the landing is graded based on the Plat recording.
