  1. I remember hearing about it, now that you mention it. It seems like it takes the challenge of having a human do it, the square is always right, but would have to agree that the practice needed to be able to perform from the platform might not be conducive to fun gameplay. Although that argument could be made for much of the other things we put ourselves through. At least have an option to "stand" in the correct spot. If one would be so inclined to torture oneself.
  2. Nothing wrong with discussing it here.
  3. I would prefer an LSO have a position on the deck relative to where the LSO actually stands, but I'm just that guy. LSOs don't talk on using the PLAT camera, right?
  4. It has happened in the past, and I can not speak for non-US maintainer practices. Like mentioned by Home Fries the US military has practices drilled into every maintainer that render the loss of an aircraft due to FOD unlikely. When weighed against the amount of maintenance completed every day, it is extremely unlikely.
  5. Tools left inside engines....No, this is not common.
  6. I'm not sure about the FB but the F-111 does not have auto wing sweep.

    F-15E?

It's been years, but if I remember it was a lack of avionic documentation regarding radar and datalink. Also a lack of definitive engine performance envelope and data. In the end the US Gov said nope. Not sure how much of that has changed, but back when that's what was understood.
  8. Not only the avionics of weapon release needs work, but mechanical as well. When carrying multiple bombs on a single station the lowest station of the rack is station 1. On any TER/MER station 1 is the lowest station and is always released first. Currently in game, station 1 ( the lowest station) is released last. Its backwards.
  9. What would be an example of pointless classification?
  10. Classifications are never for no good reason. For those who's career is to find out secrets the clues to prevent spies from learning information that the good guys want secret is the reason a classification system is in place. Like was said earlier, if you don't know why its classified then the system is working. Japan has the F-15J, but the F-15J and the F-15C are not the same jet. Like a car, the chassis might be the same, but when you change the engine, radiator, turbocharger, suspension, tires, and brakes you can end up with a completely different vehicle. Like a car just about anything can be swapped out on the airframe to change its capabilities. From the outside looking in it's going to be just as difficult to know what those differences are because people don't want other people to even know that there is a difference. As long as they think its for no good reason then mission accomplished. ED could attempt to model a civilian version to get around some things, but there are other things to consider.
  11. Someone is working on a proper persistent, dynamic, multiplayer campaign for DCS. "So this is my dream: an online, interactive, persistent multiplayer server where the players not only fly but also direct strategy and coordinate ground forces. They spawn groups and assign their missions from outside the simulator itself. Indeed, players can act for their coalition even without running the simulator directly. Instead, they run a separate application, either on a Windows computer or mobile device (Android or Apple). They can schedule groups for spawning at selected locations whenever the need arises. They can create waypoints for their groups and thus coordinate ground actions with other players. " Commit Aviation![https://www.patreon.com/r3dl1n3
  12. If ED doesn't get to it, know that there is someone who is working on ground AI.
  13. 75% of these forums is speculation. Wouldn't you agree? Release dates, modules, etc. People have questions all the time.
  14. I was talking in a similar discussion, and no one could remember two modules overlap each other before release. Yes we know ED will do what it wants to do. However, it was wondered in the conversation if it was a part of the GLA because it has never happened. A module in pre-sale and then a second module going on sale at the same time has not happened. Unless we remember incorrectly. DCS has also never had this much activity in the pipeline, so that alone could change things.
  15. The hard part is hitting that sweet spot with your head turned over your shoulder away from your instruments.
  16. Lets not get too far ahead, he might have been talking about the F-14 capability to perform ground radar mapping...or he could be thinking of the F-111.:music_whistling:
  17. How about the Faroe Islands?
  18. I've been flying flight sims since way back, and been enjoying ED since Lock On. Funny that in all these years this was my first event, but I had great time flying with all of you! I will be back again.
  19. 26 seconds. Look at the number on the island.
  20. I'm already a member of that group . Initials JW.
  21. I feel the same way, and looking forward to it all the more because of it. I was worried that the rabbit hole of RIO duties wasn't going to be deep enough at first. However looking at the direction of the last update is seems there will be included a certain level of nuance for the operator to grow into being a RIO. Maybe we will have a chance to fly together. Which position do you favor or like me are you undecided?
