  1. That's not entirely true about the systems being classified .. Maybe the Super Hornet might be.. But there's lot of data readily available for the older models.. I know this for a fact as I've sourced quite a lot of it.. And as far as a new engine is concerned I'll believe it when I see it...I've been hearing that one for at least 2 or more years... To build a new engine takes a lot of time and resources and from the looks of things Eagle is extremely busy with other projects..And don't forget that this is a small company... If Eagle ever produces a Hornet simulator with a HiFi, "state of the art engine" I'm sure it would sell, but if this happens at all its most likely going to be a long time down the road... :smilewink: Blaze
  2. I really think that Eagle won't release the FA-18 any time soon.. This issue has been kicked around by this developer for more years then I'd care to remember.. I feelthat they do have all of the data needed to complete this bird... buy who knows why it hasn't been resurrected, it probably is some thing internal.. Virtual Reality has done a super job but that's not a real combat simulator.. It would be cool if Eagle were to release the FA/18 with a clickable cockpit and a new game engine to match that of Rise of Flight.. Actually all that they have to do is recruit some of the programmers from them..:hehe: I mean there's only so much that you can do with this present engine ... But as I've stated earlier I personally wont start to fly here again until Eagle brings out some fast movers , if ever.. This post will most likely be deleted just like my last one.... :megalol: Blaze
  3. Honestly... I'm not a fan of helicopter sims. Therefore I haven't bothered posting in the Black Shark forum. And thats the reason I'm posting here in the general discussion forum. I remember that there were promises made some time ago about adding some fixed wing AC. So now that the Black Shark frenzy seems to have died down somewhat, rather then taking the time to skim through all of post that I'm not concerned with, I was wondering if there are any new developments regarding this. I'm also hoping that there's also been some work done with the new game engine.. This is just my own opinions, I'm not trying to offend anyone. Once these items become a reality I'll be back, as I'm sure that many other guys will be as well... :noexpression: Blaze
  4. Sorry Guys, I've put this idea on the back burner for now ...As well as all of the other flight sims.. I've been waiting and waiting for something new be released some where in the community. But this is really starting to become boring.. yawn ... I mean with all of the spammers that have begun to show up.. you Guys know what I mean.... here's one example " Oh yeah? I really didn't know that" But I think that we've all been guilty of that at one time or another..:megalol: So to cut through the boredom I think that Pit Building is superb way of utilizing your time until the next flight sim hits the market.. It certainly is time consuming, but god knows you have it to spare.. :D Actually what I've just done is bought a Jaguar Convertible, and with the Spring finally upon us, this is perfect for cruising around with the top down.. But I'll still check out all of your innovative skills, Keep up the good work Gentlemen.. I should be back here full time once DCS kicks in... ~S~ Blaze
  5. Nicely improvised Rocket... As far as my project is concerned, I when to the touch buddy websight but the link isn't working.. So I was googling and found this .. Its from a company called C-more.. They have a demo available so I was playing around with it and seem to have come up with a solution.. This is what I've done in just a few minutes, it appears that these buttons can be customised to look just about anyway that you chose.. This software is specifically designed to work with touch screen applications.. Here's the web page if anyone wants to look any further... http://web6.automationdirect.com/adc/Overview/Catalog/Operator_Interfaces/C-more_Touch_Panels/C-more_Touch_Panel_Programming_Software_-a-_Cables Blaze
  6. Thanks Cat... I guess the touch Buddie Guys don't visit this forum that often these days... Let me check over at their forum, and I'll get back here later regarding any new findings ... Blaze
  7. I have a question concerning enabling the UFCD for the F/A-18... As you can see by the picture when pressing the AP button (auto pilot) on the touch screen it automatically changes to a sub menu for programming additional functions.. Does anyone know if this can be setup using touch buddy or does TB technology only use a mylar applique with only one main screen? any ideas will certainly be helpful in accomplishing this fuction.. ~S~ Blaze
  8. I have four years in US Marine Corps Avation, its safe to say that my experience is beyound the Air Cadets .. :D As far as those other games that you mentioned... If its not a flight sim you wont see me there... ~S~ Blaze
  9. I've actually been trying to get a job Beta testing for Eagle, for roughly about 5 years and still haven't been called.. :music_whistling: So really its not an easy position to acquire... :D ~S~ Blaze
  10. Yes I will build the side's as well... that'll be after completeing the seat, I'm going to take it one step at a time though.. If I try to do too many things at once it might get a little out of hand ... The front cockpit has 5 screens LDDI, RDDI, Engine/Fuel Display, a Multi Purpose Color Display, and the small radar scope.. So thats a lot of screens and will be very costly to simulat as well as time consumming to hard wire and set up.... this will be a long installation so it'll certainly have to wait till last... Blaze
  11. I've been doing quite a lot of research concerning ejection seats in the last 3 or 4 days and have come up with some very interesting information... I just as I suspected the Aces II ejection seat that the F-16 uses is quite a bit different then the Martin Baker SJU-5/A that the F/A-18 ABCD uses... The Martin Baker is pictured on the Left and the ACE's is on the right... I found some very detailed information concerning the ACE's here at this sight http://www.viperpits.org/smf/index.php?topic=2164.0 .. especially some free plans for constructing a seat from SpeedOne.. and his plans are free take a look at the link... These same methods can be applied to building a SJU-5/A, although this build is going to be a lot more complicated as I'm going to go into detail... Notice that the Rocket motor equipment and drouge chute gun are actually hidden on the ACE's but are exposed on the SUJ... I'm actually planning on representing all of the ejection devices with PVC piping.. all though I think that on some of the custom fittings I'm going to have to hand carve... The fittings for the these I guess will be a mixture of PVC, wood, epoxy and Bondo... And of course some will be aircraft fittings with plain brake lines along with braided metal line ... I'm now beginning that process of drawing up some plans for the build... I think that the hardest thing will be getting all of the measurements right so that it will be the proper size... I'm sure that this is going to be a long process and should be fun.... OK so that's a little update .. ~S~ Blaze
  12. Ok ... Yes I just realized that maybe its not such a good idea to buy a Seat from Stang, even if I could... :music_whistling: I've been looking else where but I haven't been able to find a prefab kit as of yet... More research is in order I'm afraid, I'm thinking that I just might have to build from scratch... I can but it is a lot of work.... Again thanks for the heads -up.... ~S~ Blaze
  13. Thanks for the heads up Ghost.... I'll give them a shout... ~S~ Blaze
  14. Well if your going to do something, my moto is do it right the first time..... :glare: If I'm going to build a pit I'm going to build it so that everything is fuctional .... When the fixed wing do comeout for DCS they'll be fully operational, so I should be ready for full realism.... I know that searching for authentic gauges takes a lot of time, and isn't cheap by any means... I've been looking into pit building now for about 6 years and have learned quite a lot about it.... Blaze
  15. Ok the F-18 seat does look very much the same as the F-16 and F-15.. Check it out...
  16. Yes Gunner does have an F-16 Pit.. He's actually a member of the USAF Virtual Thunderbirds.... The Thunderbirds in real life fly the F-16 but as we all know the F-16 HUD isn't available in Lock On.. The Thunderbirds have developed a very nice F-16 skin, but the cockpits in Lock On aren't accessible... But who's to say what can happen in future development in the DCS engine? Maybe some day we'll have an F-16 pit, and maybe even an F/A-18 pit as well, which will be awesome for the Virtual Blue Angels... So as I've posted earlier I'm considering building an F-18 pit, and I might start soon by buying a Aces II ejection seat kit to start.. I think that the Aces II Ejection seat is similar on both the F-16 and F-18... You can Check out all details here ...http://forums.frugalsworld.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=112303 If he still has some available they where about $400.00 USD... ~S~ Blaze
  17. Now all of those pits are cool.. But my vote for "the best of the best" goes to Gunner This is awesome, its the best one by far.... As far as I'm concerned, buy the time I find the space and the funds to build something to this level, DCS will most likely be doing Fixed Wing A/C... ~S~ Blaze
  18. Since your going to RICH (LOL).... You should really look into the U2 NXT Cougar mod .. I installed this about 1 1\2 years ago and I'm glad that I did, not that you actually need it but it does add more control .... Take a look at this thread it'll show you what its about.... http://webpages.charter.net/davegun/Cougar.htm ~S~ Blaze
  19. How is it going RD..... I personally have Simpeds..... These are no doubt the best match for your Cougar... One thing though these might not be that good a choise for you though.. They are the most expensive and take along time for delivery... They're precision made by hand.. And its a one man operation, from a small shop in Bavaria... If you have the cash and the time though its well worth it.... ~S~ Blaze
  20. In case you missed it, check this out... http://www.patricksaviation.com/videos/Starfighter/1091/ And on a more somber note, a farewell to John Douglas.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LeT5hZ0uLE0&feature=related ~S~ Blaze
  21. Yes I totally agree with your observations.. This will certainly make a more interesting simulation.. Its getting sort of old hearing from this small percentage of die hards here in this forum that are constantly murmuring about the good old days .. Change is truly survival in today's market place.. I'm sure that we're seeing some well planned maneuvering by the Eagle Development Team that should ensure their existence as well as leadership in the future of electronic gaming.. I mean if your so inclined to make comments without thinking just to bring up your score.. Well that's actually called spamming.. So why don't you give us all a brake and go some where else... :megalol: Blaze
  22. Personally, I think that this idea has interested Eagle for quite a while now.. I'm certainly in favour of it myself... I think that this would make a more interesting simulator... To be able to control Tanks, Triple A and other vehicles would be cool... isn't that what Digital Combat Series stands for ??? Blaze
  23. Happy New Year to you Chizh, and to all the guy's at Eagle Dynamics including Oleg, Matt and all.. And to all the guy's here at DCS and in the Lock On forum .. Happy New Year !!! :yay: ~S~ Blaze
  24. That's great news .. so I guess we'll soon be seeing some new ground textures for Flaming Cliffs as well.. Now Black Shark is looking very realistic.. Thanks again Matt for the insight.. William
