  1. I've been waiting for something like this for quite awhile... I personally don't like flying on line for a number of reasons, I'm sure a lot of other virtual pilots feel the same way... There's no need to go into further detail... This will hold my interest for some time... ~S~ Blaze
  2. http://en.akella.com/Game.aspx?id=6 Take a look at this.... The demo down load is really outstanding... I especially like the red gun flashes with the red reflections on the very realistic water... Although the term demo is a little misleading here... This is actually a demo designed to measure your FPS in DX10 using there simulator as the measuring device, so its not interactive as of yet.. My max fps for this simulator was close to 50 fps, and I'm running a BFG 8800 GTS OC 640 (X2) in SLI .... Blaze
  3. This actually belongs in the Tech forum, but just so that you know, the series 7 card doesnt fully support DX10... Just because you've installed it on that old card doesn't mean that your seeing eveything that's been rendered.. This series 7 card doesn't physically have all of the pipes that you need to see all the detail that's rendered in DX10... If you can't afford an 8800 you might want to install an 8400, 8500 or 8600 ...these are the equivalent of the series 7 cards but will enable you to see all of the detail of DX10 and at much lower price.. Sorry... Blaze
  4. I would say yes there is a difference, Lock On is far more difficult to install in Vista... As far as the quality of the game play and the graphics there's no noticeable difference... Regarding DX10 to actually run a game in DX10, the game has to be written in DX10 and you need the newest DX10 video card to see it... MOH Airborne and "PT Boats Knights Of The Sea" are Dx10.. I've run these on my BFG 8800 OC 640 in SLI and they look incredible... Window Vista doesn't ship withDX10, you have to down load it on the Windows web sight or the games that are written in DX10 include the new DX10 download.... But you need a DX10 GPU to install it.... You usually are also asked to install the AEGIA PHYS X as well. All of this wont improve Lock On in its present state. But I'm sure it will be beneficial for future products released by Eagle Dynamics... Blaze
  5. So you just went back to your duty station ... Are you in the Fleet Marine Force at Camp Lejeune NC. ? I personally never was never stationed there except for a brief training period at Camp Geiger.. I did mange to sneak off the base and visit some of my high school buddies that were coincidentally stationed at Lejeune at the time, that was a lot of fun but if I would have gotten caught, you know I would have been charged .. Did you bring the rig with you or did you leave it at home? If you brought it how do you secure it BRO? I'm sort of interested to see just how much the Corps has changed since my day.... Semper Fi Blaze
  6. Hey Man.... That's an OUTSTANDING job.. As far as the placement of your memory, the way you did it is right.. The MOBO is spot on, anyway if you plug something into it wrong the bios wount boot, and shows a screen stateing whats wrong .. as far as memory though, you can actually go to control panel and open up system and this will give you the amount of memory installed among other things.... Have fun BRO.. Oh but the way, are you home on leave ???? Blaze
  7. I'm almost sure that improvements to FC won't be included in BS.... I'm guessing that there really hasn't even been a decision made yet whether or not to release BS as a stand alone or include the fast movers... Anyway its going to be what it is, I personally don't care at this point ... What ever Ed decides to do is fine with me... No matter what you say its their decision to make... They're the professionals and its their product... But anyway it looks to me like we'll most probably see the release some time next year.... There seems to be a lot of work to do yet .... Blaze
  8. Yes Geier, those are very informative posts ... REP inbound... Thanks Blaze
  9. FYI.. The gentleman that developed the advanced flight dynamics for the SU-25T, Ann Petrovic is the same man who now works for GT (KOTS) in the same capacity.. And as far as I know the AFD system that he developed for Flaming Cliffs is also being used in BS... As far as I'm concerned the Russian Game developers are the best in the world.. ~S~ Blaze
  10. Anyway.... This option will most likely not even be considered by ED until a much later time in the future, if at all... Fast movers and Lock On isn't ED's concern at the present time... I've heard that there might possibly be one final patch.. But that I'm sure ED hasn't really had time to even look at this issue... Your guess is as good as mine regarding the future of the Jet Sim.... :smilewink: ~S~ Blaze
  11. Well.... go to their web sight and you can read all about it .... It should answer most of your questions.... Its better to get your information directly from the horses mouth (so to speak).. http://www.vrsimulations.com/product_FA18E.htm
  12. I've been following this Forum since it was opened ... I have a good feeling that this one is really going to happen.. They're presently in beta testing at the moment... The estimated release date is some time near the end of October of this year... The inital addon will only be for FS 2004.. But the plan is to include a free upgarde to FSX later next year... But from what I've heard the more detail simulation addons for FSX aren't going as planned,For example heres another one that I can't wait to get my hands on ..... http://www.sstsim.com/products/tme.php ~S~ Blaze
  13. Is that an official statment... Do you really know this to be a fact... Blaze
  14. Glad to help Marine.... I have the fatality card, I purchased it separately but I cant get it to install properly with Vista... But that's ok.. the Asus sound card rocks, I've got the Asus plugged into my Sony 7.1 Digital Audio Control Center... So if I want to watch a Blue Ray or HD disk on the computer DVD player I get the full movie audio, and Lock On or any game that I choice to play sounds cool.. By the way do you know what you'll be flying back on? Is it a C130 or are they going to charter a civilian air line flight... ~S~ Blaze
  15. That seems to be a little high in price.. I checked out Tiger Direct, and its now listed at $213.36 USD, find it listed on toms web sight and you'll see the difference ... But the most popular board at present is the Striker Extreme according to Toms Hardware.. I personally prefer Asus to MSI, But just so that you get all of the details concerning the pros and cons of all of the available MB's check out the link that I've included... Then you can decide for yourself whats right for you're purposes... http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/seven-650i-sli-motherboards-compared-uk,review-2296-5.html ~S~ Blaze
  16. Its good to hear that your finally on the way home ... I'll bet you can't wait to hit the deck back here on US soil... Hang in there my-man... ~S~ Blaze
  17. As far as I can remember in Flanker 2.5 the cockpit could be modded to about the same degree as Lock On ... But to change the FM? I don't recall anyone ever doing this.. But you can actually see for yourself.. Go to UBI forums and bring up the Flanker forum... Most of what had been addressed you'll be able to access by using the search function... ~S~ Blaze
  18. I had a similar problem when running FC in Visa... I solved the problem by turning off the administor, rebooting and running the game with it off.. ~S~ Blaze
  19. http://home.arcor.de/p.madel/Homepage/homeeng.htm Check out the Link... Yes they are toe brakes just like the real thing.... ~S~ Blaze
  20. Asus Striker extreme is a good bd. to use with the e6800.. It has the Nvidia 680i chip set... This allows you to run SLI and has all of the bells and whistles.. Or a less expensive model, like I have is the Asus P5N32-E SLI, This also has the 680i chip and has the the Nvidia Bios as well... There was a problem with both of these boards when they were first released at the beginning of the year.. I had one but couldn't get it to install properly so I RMA'd it back to M'Wave... I then bought a Commando.. This board installed with some very minor issues, but I wasn't SLI compatible... I could run my BFG 8800 GTS with out any problem but I just couldn't run SLI as this board was actually designed for crossfire (PCI-E).. So I was planning on going with a crossfire set up but when the reviews finally were released for the ATI DX10 cards weren't that favorable... Well I just went and sold the commando on e-bay and bought another P5N-32-E SLI .. Asus has done some modifications to this board since its release so I only had only some small issues when reinstalling the Bd.. Its very stable now and I just recently added another 8800 GTS and installed SLI... I'm happy now with this setup, so with a little trial and error I've finally gotten the system that I was looking for .... ~S~ Blaze
  21. Intell is the way to go ... I was a die hard AMD fanboi for a long time until the release of the new generation of Intell processors entered the market... I'm afraid that AMD has lost it to Intell at this point in time... and I'm not so sure that AMD will ever catch up to the competition.... ~S~ Blaze
  22. The Cougar pots aren't weak... they're actually high end pots.. The reason why they spike occasionally is because of the way that they're mounted into the stick base... but this is very easily addressed when spiking occurs by removing the pot from the mount and spraying some contact cleaner directly into the pot to flush out the the residue... or you can go for the Hall sensor kit like I did .. As far as the best rudders for Cougar compatibility why its the Simped system of course... http://home.arcor.de/p.madel/Homepage/homeeng.htm ~S~ Blaze
  23. Sorry Dude but I would recommend staying away form new Newegg.. They have a tendency to overcharge. There Ok for maybe one item but to use them for supplying parts for a whole new system is not recommended .. Raised Dead, try this web sight once you have decided what hardware you expect to use... http://www.bizrate.com/this is the best sight for comparison shopping, and its what I always use when purchasing hardware for my system builds.. Usually ZipZoomFly or MWave are the cheapest .. And then sometimes newegg is cheaper.. Also I have been using this method for years and haven't ever been ripped off... You can trust all of the vendors that they list, and I'm speaking from experience.... When you decide what you're going to need I'd be glade to go over all of the items of choise and help you with details.. P.S. My present build includeing Joystick Mod and '32 LCD screen cost me several thousand dollars and I was whatching the sales slip very closely.. Hardware is a lot more expensive then it was a few years ago... Happy Shopping Blaze
  24. With all due respect.. I'm not sure if I understand your post ?? ~S~ Blaze
