  1. I've been away for so long that I've actually forgotten some of the basics.. Mainly applying a signature to my posts.. My old sig was to big so it was deleted by one of the staff.. If anyone could take the time to give me a tutorial I would be extremely grateful, I want to use a photo All The Best Blaze~
  2. Carrier Operations Problem solved I think that because this modal was just installed that all of the preset missions hadn't been downloaded.... I've also took some time and studied mission editor.. Now if we can just have the Persian Gulf Map, Things will be exactly the way I would like them ... Blaze
  3. Gentleman and Ladies I've been allover these forums and can't 'seem to find a guide to set up Carrier Operations I've been away for quite a few years but I'm finding some awesome aircraft that I want to get proficient at... Seeing that I was in the US Marine Corps .. My preference is of course is Carrier Ops... Can someone please direct me to a useful tutorial.. Blaze ~
  4. I was in the Marine Corps Airwing stationed at Cherry Point NC...I was actually a crew chief back in the day... Of course I had hands on experience with most of the fighter jets and transports... Our squadron was attached directly to MCAS, but we did get deployed occasionally .. That was a time when I felt I had great importance in what I was doing... Its now been a few years since I left the service but looking back. That was one of the most fulfilling times in my life.. And I still love fighter jets.. I do spend a lot of time with simulators. It helps me to relive my youth.. Blaze~
  5. News!!! I've recently built an awesome system, with a 1 TB ssd.. This has enables me to load a lot of various flight sims with a lot of space leftover... I've recently been trying to install VRS's F/A-18... Its a real issue trying to get all of their add-ons to function, sort of like Falcon back in the day. They don't have the FSX source code, and its difficult to get there add-ons to work.. This is just about the way that Falcon operated as well.. the good thing about VRS is the clickable cockpit with emulated touch screen.. This is a very sophisticated system and takes a lot of study to perfect it...I'm not that found of the graphics in VRS, (I have a Asus GTx 1050 video card) but again the cockpit is awesome... I've been a big fan of ED since the beginning, as I've even flown Flanker in 2D as well as 3D.. LOL... I'm really interested in Ed's version as I prefer their game engine... Since you gentlemen seem to be immersed in the DCS version of F/A-18 is there any news as to when this module will be released, or anything that's fresh???? Blaze~
  6. Graphic Setting Question I just finished a new build... I've been away for a long time and I've had a lot of issues setting up DCS again. I still have a number if issues in setting up modules, but I'm beginning to understand this. My main questions for the moment is the graphics. I'm running an ASUS Maximus Vlll extreme MB with an ASUS GTX 1080 oc video card.. So I should be able to get great resolution.. But It not what I expected it to be.. The sim loads with some short screens, and the graphics are not as sharp as they should be. I've gone trough most of the settings, and I can't seem to find the best one. I'm using a LG 30''monitor .. Does anyone know considering this setup what the best graphic settings should be Blaze
  7. I've been away for a considerable time. I've recently built a new system and spared no expense. Of course I'm running windowed 10,..,, And with all of these new toys I certainly went with the Thrustmaster Warthog. I've been having a lot of trouble sorting things out. The one example is learning all of the many buttons and switches. So a few days ago I was in the cockpit and decided to switch the ALTHG on. That was my big mistake.. The screen went black and the pc crashed. So as it happens I can't get the computer to boot. I've been trying everything that I can think of , replacing the memory, removing the battery but to no availed This hasn't solved the problem The motherboard is an ASUS Maximus V111 Extreme/Assembly.... Does anyone have any idea how to fix this !!!!! Blaze~
  8. I'll give you credit for your tenaciousness. You stated that when the AF/18 is available Isn't it actually the A/F-18? I honestly don't think that this going to happen with this developer. I personally worked with ED several years ago. I had submitted several NAVTOP documents that I have in my possession. And I know of several others that have contributed This was, I guess about 10 years ago. Nothing ever seems to come out of it. So after all of these years of waiting I honestly don't see this happening... Although I do give you great respect for what you plan on doing and wish you good luck with you're project. If you haven't already checked you might try VRS Simulation They've been in development for years and have hit all of the bases.. Blaze~
  9. Hi.... Just returned to the game after a long hiatus ... I've built a new computer to replace my old antiquated system. Needless to say that I'm up to my ears in technical issues, one of which is try to increase the of the picture to fit the screen. Where is the button to do this? Also how do I get the WARTHOG stick to install? I hope that someone can be kind enough to answer these questions.. ~ BLAZE
  10. I've been away for a real long time and was just wondering what's the latest news regarding the Hornet add-on? The forum is just to full to find any details regarding this.. I hope that some one has some pity on this old pilot :music_whistling: ~S Blaze
  11. I've been away from the game for a while, and have forgotten some things. The problem I'm having now concerns the MFD radar. I remember that you were able to see enemy and friendly aircraft. They were represented by symbols in the MFD . I don't remember how to set this up and is this still possible? Can some one please explain to me how I can accomplish this... Thank you guys you've all been really helpful in helping me get back into the game. S~ Blaze
  12. feed back has answered a lot of questions Great information guys, this should keep me busy for a while .. Thank you all !!! Blaze
  13. Things are beginning to open up for me, and I'm really quite happy my progress... I've installed Target as you suggested and the Cougar is working 100% better... I was able to get the throttle to operate On the Saber Jet but haven't been able to get the throttle to operate as of yet for my favorite plane the Mig 29, Although I was able to program some of the Cougar Keys to select some of the essential systems. I'm still reading documentation regarding the Saber Jet, I did actually have some dealings with this plane in Strike Fighters years ago And I know that this jets operating systems are really quite rudimentary.... So I really owe you one... Thanks Slowhand ~S~ Blaze
  14. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I have been offline for several years... I had actually played Flanker many years ago and was there at the at the beginning when Lock-on was introduced..... As life always throws you problems, I have some serious health issues .... My health is now a little more stable and thought that it might be a good time to go back and try the most difficult of issues, Modern Combat... I'm totally impressed with advances that Ed has implemented in the FC 3..... But as it stands I can't get my joystick operating properly... So, this is how it stacks up.. My hotas is from the old school, it's a cougar and at one point in time I went all out and modded it with the NXT and rudder configuration. This ( at the time it was extremely expensive. about the same as todays Wart Hog...) So I've been trying to set up my Cougar to work with the FC software and haven't been able to get my throttle to function.. I thought it would work if I tried it out on the new saber jet but (no joy...) I have lost a lot of my programmer skills and the Foxy software was never one of my strong points... Anyway do one of you experts know If I can possibly make this cougar and if so how do I go about this If one of you guys could take the time to explain this to me I will forever be in your dept

    A New Day

Well after an absence of several years I decided to come home.... I was rather a daunting task to understand the installation process, but after several attempts I did manage to get Lock On 3 up and running. This new engine is really amazing. Now comes the issue of refreshing my memory of the avionics and weapons systems. And of course there are new buttons and switches to learn as well. I'm hoping to get many hours of excitement and enjoyment from this sim... I'll see everyone down the line as for now its back to school... LOL All the best Blaze
  17. Well modern war fare is what it its .. There isn't a whole lot ATA about it . But there is ATG and that's fun as well .. GG you haven't changed a bit since you first arrived on the sean.. I just can't win with you (LOL). I give up I'll see you guys when a fixed wing arrives whether its a Marine Corps AC or not.... :bye: Blaze
  18. I'm not commenting about the speed of the flyables actually, although I prefer fast movers.. My issues are with the ground effects.. whether its the A10 or whatever. When I'm down low I would like to see a better representation of the ground.. That's all, there's no need to take this personally.. I really didn't want to stir up a real Hornets nest (LOL)... I mean have you even tried ROF.. Whether its WWI or WWIV it doesn't really matter to me. I'm a flight sim guy ... As far as a Hornet in ROF? come on do you have to be so hard nosed Bro? If you have something against me personally PM me and discuss it.. I've been flying with Eagle since the Flanker days and I think that's its fair for me to criticise somethings once in a while.. Where you there when Flanker was first released???? The Falcon guys were all over it like a cheap suit.. This is the trouble with this genre everyone thinks that they know more the the next... It's actually bad politics to disagree with each other all of the time... Anyway I'm still waiting for Eagle to release a fixed wing whether its an A-10 or something else.... Blaze
  19. Have you tried Rise Of Flight??? And look at the Oleg's next release Storm of War...
  20. I don't see this as the ultimate answer to the issues.. Personally I think that Eagle needs to address the graphics engine issue as a whole. It sounds like these are small concessions to fixing the larger issue which is plausible ground effects.. But that just my opinion and I'll probably get banned for mentioning this... :megalol: Blaze
  21. I'm hardly missing out on anything.. The A-10 sounds somewhat interesting.. I've flown it in Lock On for many years .. But of course its not my favorite. The thing that really killed it for me is the lack off ground detail, where as with fixed wing a/c the higher altitudes with this present engine really rocks. Eagle did a fantastic job of new cloud formations and great ground detail from higher elevations when it was first released . In that sense it was very innovative, but when you get down into mud moving, the ground detail leaves something to be desired... When Lock On was first released I thought it was awesome, but how long can you fly the same game without getting board??? So I had to take a brake from flight sims for awhile. And I have all of them, All of MS Flight simulators including X.. All of the IL2 series All of the Strike fighters etc.. But the present issues with flight simulators is that its a niche market and new releases are far and few between ... So I had to take a brake and was working on my Jaguar convertible, and just recently downloaded Rise Of Flight.. Now things have changed with the release of Rise Of Flight. This game made me dust off my old joystick and begin to fly again.. Rise of Flight has raised the bar on gaming engines, just as Lock On was when it was first released has a lot of naysayers because of the complexity of setting things up to properly run the game . I did have a lot of issues here myself but being a seasoned gamer :megalol: I did managed to make it work for me .... Now if Eagle could just bring their engine up to today's standards the ground level combat would be more enjoyable... Blaze
