  1. I really hope this is something being improved for future releases, because ATM it doesn't work completely right. Case in point: the first time I ran the "Death Valley" mission, the AI Ka-50s simply start taxiing to the runway as soon as their systems are up and running. They don't wait for the flight leader (me) to start rolling first. Second issue: even if the AI "falls in" behind the player, they don't seem to do a very good job at avoiding collisions. Again, in the "Death Valley" mission, I roll out to the runway, ahead of my two wingmen, and I momentarily set the brakes as I make some last-minute checks and ask the tower for takeoff clearance. However, as soon as I ask the tower for clearance, here comes my #2 behind me, ripping off parts of my aircraft and bailing out. All that time spent getting the chopper started up and to the runway, only to have the AI run into me. This is something that definitely needs to be worked on.
  2. In reference to page 2-77 in the manual, item 5: What exactly does this switch do, especially in comparison to item 6 (the VHF-TLK channel)? In all the tracks and videos I've seen, it's not necessary to have this button switched in order for the datalink system to function, but VHF-TLK is.
  3. A more responsive and reactive behavior by ground vehicles when they realize enemy air assets are in the area. Vehicles should attempt to take cover behind buildings, trees, hillsides, etc.
  4. Thanks!
  5. Where exactly are the cockpit controls for turning the spot light on and off? (I know about the ones on the collective).
  6. Matt, A friend of mine was at Nellis for Red Flag last year covering the event for a European mag, so he might have some good pics. I've passed along the message to him. EDIT: in the meanwhile, here is his page for the event: http://shotbyme.at/redflag08.html
  7. TrackIR is MUCH more than just webcam technology. http://www.simhq.com/_technology2/technology_150a.html
  8. Just wanted to pop in and say this is a really good mission. I kept getting whacked over and over again, until I finally learned this last time to back off and hit targets from farther away. Unfortunately, I managed to find only one LAV-25, and then I let my wingman take out the AA assets he had found via recon. Will be playing this one more to see if I can get better at it.
  9. I think you know the answer to that.
  10. Diagonal slewing can also be accomplished with CH's Control Manager software. For instance, to slew the Shkval down and to the left, the command line would be HOLD . HOLD ,. Works like a charm. :)
  11. For those that play "Dead is Dead" type campaigns it's a nice feature to have.

    Is this a Ka-50?

Er, Arma2 was released in Germany a few weeks ago.
  13. This type of feature could be simulated in a much more simplistic manner and yet still satisfy players of the game. In IL-2, the campaign engine simply factors in proximity to enemy units when determining whether a bailed-out pilot has been captured or not. Land too close to enemy units - pilot captured, simple as that. Now, something like that I think would be perfectly fine for DCS.
  14. I hope so as well, especially in regards to CH. Their controllers are very good, no doubt about it, but most of their current designs are getting a bit "old" now and could stand for an update (especially WRT their Pro Throttle). Will be interesting indeed to see how the competition responds to the G940.
  15. I have had this happen to me as well. Everything will be going along just fine, and then my profile (CH controllers here as well) will simply stop working.

  17. Yep, that fixed it.
  18. I am using a rudder pedal axis (Saitek Pro Flight Pedals). When I press the pedal, the paddle "expands" instead of being squeezed.
  19. Is the animation on the cyclic for apply wheel brakes correct? I notice the paddle moves outward when I apply wheel brakes, as if the pilot is spreading the fingers on his hand. Shouldn't the pilot be squeezing the handle when applying the brakes?
  20. I figured out what the problem was. I still had the default keypresses assigned by the game active in my controller profile, in addition to the profile I had created in CH's Control Manager. That meant that for certain buttons the same command was being sent twice - once by BS, and once by Control Manager. Whoops! :music_whistling:
  21. No issues here, and I can run everything at max, at 1920x1200 resolution: Core i7 940 4 GB DDR3 RAM ATI HD 9870 XP32
  22. Absolutely. It works great for flight sims and FPS games like Armed Assault.
  23. I am using a CH Fighterstick/Pro Throttle/Throttle Quad setup, and I have the key commands to slew the Shkval set up on the Fighterstick. I don't think it's this. Unlike the standard scanning mode, the Shkval will start scanning around with a mind of its own, at scanning speeds far above what the normal scan mode allows, and often this occurs at diagonal angles. Thanks. This is what I think is going on. I'll give your trick a try next time this happens.
