Wow. I never new about the over G being the Finnish version! Learn something every day! Yes- the battle rages on and it was my first "moment", if you like, of being in the debate and seeing for myself. I'm not one of these loyal and stubborn fan boys that stick to their favourites no matter what - I always appreciate the differences in the capabilities of any fighter jet and love the debates that surround them. For the record, my favourite jet has always been the F-15. But, I've never flown it and probably never will unless it comes down on sale.

DCS: F/A-18C Screenshots and Videos (NO DISCUSSION)
cptmrcalm replied to Vitormouraa's topic in DCS: F/A-18C
I take on the mighty F-16C with guns only for the first time. Is it really David VS Goliath? or down to the pilot? -
To add fuel to the fire... No where near as comfortable in the 16, but I got the feeling in this that I couldnt be killed unless I did something stupid. As you can see in the video, not the best at it, but felt comfortable and didn't feel I was ever in trouble. Video moved to the screenshot thread in the F/A-18C section. Felt it was probably better there.

lol. Like it.

By the way, I should quickly stress that I am talking a gun fight only. With missiles, and with no "passing each other first" type of encounters things change so dramatically, I think I would always want to be in the 16. Getting away from a missile and shooting at range with all that energy helps a lot.

I know. It's funny because I have a video coming out soon (tomorrow) whereby I try and take on the F16 in the F18. A video i've been working on since last week and then as coincidence would have it, Mover goes and posts a video about the two aircraft. It's no surprise what he was saying, but in DCS - virtual pilots tend not to care about their own lives so much and therefore do some daring moves sometimes! lol I found myself thinking that, as long as I am careful, there's no way the 16 can get me with guns. Even if I win through stalemate (ie. he runs out of fuel). True - I am not the best pilot by a long shot. I know a few pilots off the buddyspike server who would kill me easily. But guns only is always an interesting one because thats where you truly push the aircraft and that rarely ever happens in PVP where you have missiles to hand.

Resurrecting that old conversation - F-16C VS F/A-18C. Updates over the recent months and some ex-fighter pilots having recently posted some interesting topics on the matter had me and a few friends having some really interesting conversations. So much so, I thought it would make for an interesting exchange here too. Who wins in a guns only fight? passing one another and turning into the merge. I was all F-16C until recently. Whats your take? is it possible to include a survey? www.youtube.com/@cptmrclam

Hi all. I got asked recently if I had the campaign file for a film I made called: "Do NOT fire until fired upon!!! Rules Of Engagement". However, I didn't use or make a campaign. I'm pretty sure I used Squeaky's Training Day (STD) user file as a base file and then threw in some jets and boats etc to engineer each flight to give me the effect I wanted. But the request got me thinking. It would make a pretty darn good campaign. The whole idea of the opponent force teasing and testing the allies. Boats harassing the tankers. Allies trying to build an EWR and it getting attacked - and the whole thing of "do not fire until fired upon" -with the random chance that each flight could end up being your last and the pilot never knowing when or where. So my question is, does a campaign like this already exist? I know it sounds terribly ignorant, I don't fly single player missions or campaigns. Since I have been editing, I dont even get much time to go onto the buddyspike servers. If it doesnt exist, does someone fancy making it?

Love it plott1964. Lovely. Ive got some shots like that coming up in my new film. Almost finished! hoping to launch it tomorrow. -
Hi Crow. Thank you so much for your reply. I saw your latest video and your solution to force the file worked! For those reading this wondering - change DCS as a none beta version. (ie. no version.. "none") Then locate the controller file from crow as he describes. Then export it into your own personal collection of mappings and then go back to openbeta and reapply the controller config that you saved. That make sense to ya'll? I got it working except the pop up which i might not need. I was rushing and didnt look into that bit. But you've provided enough help above for me to solve that one i think. Awesome and thank you!

[ME-MOD] Coalition Modification and Information
cptmrcalm replied to Grimes's topic in User Created Missions General
Just tried the file. Fortunately made a copy of the mission editor folder as a backup. Installed the mod -[ran it - used it to change the mission file unit in question but couldnt click any units on the map. Saved the file, restored the original folder and carried on with the newly saved map. So it works - but just stops you clicking on any units. Just needs a minor update. -
Looking for premade supercarrier templates for custom missions
cptmrcalm replied to maverick90's topic in DCS: Supercarrier
I dont know if this is any good to you either? attached. I've used it recently for a populated carrier deck. Bit hard on the system, but I guess you could remove the odd plane or two? As seen in this video. STD-Si-Cold.miz -

For all you cinematography folks! Hope you like. Rules of Engagement Trailer -The Strait of Hormuz. -
Hi CrowDude. Just wondered if there had been any advances on this? I too cannot find the file listed. Shame we cant use a local file rather than have to rely on the cloud system within steam. Nobody seems to know why it isnt showing. i'm using the latest steam version openbeta.

Video up. Think I was the luckiest Hornet driver alive in this video. Still not sure how I got away with it. Enjoy! -

A continuation to my Hornet training. We had the air show for basic handling, then the very intense guns only dogfight whereby I took on 4 SU-27's alone, well, this time it's - BVR with the very same enemy. Video is done, just need to edit it. Was a bit tense at times!!! But fun! -

The Best Dogfight Scene Ever? Certainly a tense one! -
Understood. It's sometimes nice to summarise -especially as the update is still fairly recent. Admittedly I am somewhat behind. I've been away from the 18 proper for a while now and it was a joy to mess around with it and push it hard - and wondered with that still fresh in my mind if others had recently tried it too. No worries.

Anyone notice anything on the latest update for the F/A-18? I am a bit behind with the 18, but new there was a recent change. Seemed to catch energy a little quicker? I often felt that the speed was really really slow to build back up again. True, in the video below it is completely clean, but I did feel it was quicker. (Using my airshow as an excuse to push one to the limit and see if I could feel the difference. )

Here you go. As promised.

Thanks a lot for the replies. The jet was started in the air so I assumed all of the settings would be set correctly? But fantastic response. Appreciate it. Looks like that digital info bar is the one to definitely use. Quite pleased with my result. Thanks again.
