  1. Well, this car makes you want become illegal ;). I also like to know a lot more than just the combat capabilities of the Hokum. Since I can think, I'm very curious and always wanted to know even the tiniest detail of anything that interests me. On the other hand we have to accept that interests may vary in its' detail. Some look for more detailed graphics, some want realistic combat and some want to know even more, non-combat based details, for instance not how you use the radar, but even how it works in its' detail. The ones thinking a sim would be perfectly realistic don't think realistically. Every sim has many things to work on to make it even more realistic, but it's like "pi": you can come closer to the solution, but will never reach the final solution. That's impossible. Kaplaa!!!!!
  2. You're absolutely right, GGT. The goal of this sim is not to master the Hokum just enough to fulfill the missions and campaigns. You should learn to fully control your machine. I don't want to sound like a smartass or like one that masters the beast perfectly, cuz I don't know my baby as well enough as I should either, but everytime I jump in my Hokum I learn new sides of the machine and understand how it works much better. And I find that very exciting. If you would buy a Viper (Dodge), would you just drive it or would you study the whole beast? I think it is much more fun 'knowing' what you drive, instead of just driving a nice looking car. Knowing your car does'nt make you faster, but more confident in controling it.
  3. It reminds me of Goofy, instead.
  4. That's in about what I've meant. Sometimes it's a bit difficult for me to explain things. Either way it would be not realistic and no option for me. Give me the real thing, or nothing ;). You could activate this option to fire 'em from the Hokum as well. Would'nt be top-realistic, but still better than flying a fake Havoc with the real weapon.
  5. ...but would you really like to fly a MI-28 with a Ka-50 cockpit? I love the appearance of the Havoc, but only with the original realistic cockpit. otherwise the sim would lack realism and would'nt be a sim anymore in my point of view.
  6. # Well, there I've heard something different. But I'll search for some more information.
  7. Welcome on board. That's great to hear. The word spreads automatically ;). It's my first helicopter-sim, too. And I love it. Especially the grade of realism, causing me to eject regularly, makes me want to fly it on and on again. You know that you'll need more time simming than your girlfriend is ready to accept ;). And don't forget to feed your cats ;).
  8. I think, such questions, like "which concept is the best" will always cause endless discussions with no final answer. Which does'nt mean that it should'nt be discussed, though. Every construction has its' advantages and disadvantages. Take the delta wing-design of the Mirage, for instance. This design makes faster planes (at same thrust) but suffers of low speed-agility. The Eurofighter went a step further and added canards which increases its' agility, although a delta wing-design. The tri-plan-construction of the SU-30M/33/37 series gives the plane more agility and lower take-off and landing speeds. However the new SU-35 does'nt use canards anymore. You see, even within the same company and aircraft family they flip from one solution to another. I'd like to call this "evolution" as it is with animals and plants. There will never be one ultimate solution for everything. Otherwise only one species would have had survived. This keeps things very interesting and we will still be able to chit-chat about which is the best plane in the world :smartass:. Cheers, Endo
  9. I wished it wasn't a dream :P.
  10. What about DCS: ATAK (T-129) :music_whistling:? http://www.defenseindustrydaily.com/images/AIR_A129_ATAK_Components_lg.jpg It looks promising to me. And don't worry about classification. We turks are very easy going. Just add some RAKI to the pilot and all classified information will flow like a waterfall :drunk:.
  11. So if we all seem to ba addicts, why not open a DCS Therapy Center - Forum? Your addiction could have had a bitter end, Ether. Don't try to fly when you drive ;). We could also include a virtual softcell for the extreme cases. Is there a psycologist in this forum?
  12. Thanx guys. So easy, but I probably would have spent weeks until I'd figured it out by myself. Great.
  13. Salam folks, I have a question. When playing the mission "Clear Tkhvarchelli" sometimes I want to stick to one specific mission-variant where you have to destroy the SAM-Sites before you proceed with clearing the city from enemy units. I especially find this variant very challenging and want to practice it several times in a row. Unfortunately, everytime I start the mission, I got strapped into a different variant. My question: Is it possible to stop the "mission shuffle" and stick to one specific mission-variant? Thanx in advance, guys and gals.
  14. ...you sit on the toilet and before you flush you shout "Eject! Eject! Eject!!!!!".
  15. I think I have a new hobby by now: "Extreme Priest-Off-pi§§ing". Can priests run fast? Who knows how well trained legs they have beneath their robes :music_whistling:. I don't want "to go into Hells Kitchen". :inv:
  16. ...you open a thread on this :D.
  17. Great work with detailed information. Have'nt had time to use it yet, by the way. One thing would interest me: Now we have some start-up- and checklists posted here. But they differ from eachother. Is there a list for the real-Life Hokum available? I mean, how and in which exact order does a real Hokum-Pilot start the beast and handles emergency procedures?
  18. As you can all see, I finally managed to use multi-quote instead of replying to every post seperately. I'm proud of myself and life makes sense now:smilewink:. I'll have to get more information on the differences of both "force" technologies first before I can say which one makes sense to me. But I also use my FF-Stick for other games/sims, like racing games, for instance. That could be one reason for me to stick with the FF-Stick. Well, it seems that my beloved "Iskender-Kebap" comes right after it on second place ;). On such days I'd need a new sim to maintain my fitness on my bike: DBS (Digital Bicycle Simulator): Black Scott. This topic gained my interest in how forces are implemented in real fighterplanes and what the idea behind each concept is. I'll try to find out more about this or if one could give me a hint where I could find some (lots of, tonnes of) information on this... I have some contacts to OKB Sukhoi by a girlfriend who is a translator for the international commitees at MAKS and whos whole family-members work in various departments in the Flight-Test Center in Zhukowski. They managed to give me lots of stuff, like various autographs of their test pilots (and some handshaking with them and exchange of information. Although the information was almost only one-wayed. I was the one asking and the pilots the ones answering) and some literature that are hard to find and insight in the SU-Cockpits. She joins me every time to the MAKS-Airshow and I get free access even on non-public days and makes me and my camera very happy. I love her!!!!! ;). In one of the books of the OKB, there is some very detailed and interesting information about how the joystick of the SU-37MR works/worked. The automatic level-of-flight at changing speeds and angles-of-attack without having the necessity of moving (correcting) the stick was very interesting (not in AP-mode). I think I'll have to read it once again. Can't say anything about other aircrafts' joystick conception. This is where you have to gimme input ;). One last idea of mine: I hope one day the companies switch to a multi-feature philosophy instead of just producing one feature-hardware. We say "eat or die" to this way of thinking. The modular design could give us some freedom in our choice. Why just FF or FS? It would be possible to have both modules from which the customer could chose. They could also create different joysticks of different aircraft, so that you could screw on the stick for SU-27-Family aircraft on top the base. And when you play F-16 you just replace it with a F-16 Mod-Stick. They could also apply a mechanism to twist the stick to one side for a certain degree. This way you could use it as a centered stick between the legs like the SUs have it without worrying about your wrist bending in an unnatural way. Why just having a sim with modular aircrafts when you can have the hardware modular as well. This way we could use them almost a lifetime and they could earn more money by selling various modules. Ok. When I have some ideas, my keyboard (and some of you, I guess) begins sweating :smartass:. Now take a deep breath and relax, folks. See ya.
  19. It seems the world-famous "English breakfast" was created by simmers that want to afford some new and expensive hardware. Am I right:joystick:?
  20. Fudd! Thank you for destroying my dreams like a popping soap-bubble ;). After this news I'll call my local dealer and get the G940, which i gave him back after reading the X65F announcement. It's hard to believe, that such a well constructed and solid and expensive stick comes without Force-Feedback. At least for a lifetime FF user. I still could'nt figure out why some preferr the Force-Sensing over FF, though. Some Force-Sensing-Missionaries in here that could explain this for me? Thanx in advance and have a great (rainy) day, so you can stay home and sim around ;).
  21. Sorry. I'm not religious :D. But it would'nt harm to learn about other cultures, right? Sounds like an interesting book (it is a book, isn't it?).
  22. Hahahahaha . Alrighty, thx. It's like a bulb lighting in my head now. I've thought of something completely different. Ouch . How emberracing. Stupid me.

  24. Yes, Ka-Boom goes my head from too many controls to learn, but bring it on anyway :bomb:. So I vote for both :D.
