  1. Some pics from the assets, some new, some old:
  2. We're pleased to share some significant updates to the Vietnam War Vessels pack, version 0.4.0. Acknowledgments to @Eight Ballfor their contribution to the pack with the addition of the PBR MkII Patrol Boat. Alongside this, the MiG-17F "Fresco-C" joins the lineup, albeit in an early stage of development. @Beldin has made noteworthy adjustments to the F-8 Crusader config, incorporated into this release. You'll also notice a renaming of the Liveries folder to vwv_crusader and vwv_crusader_np for organizational purposes. Furthermore, with Beldin's assistance, improvements have been made to the taxi and runway routes of CVA-31. 3. He he, I remember rigging the C-1 Trader for Unsung in Arma 3 years ago. Quite a nice plane and would be a good fit for Vietnam War Vessels as well. On my wishlist would be also a RF-101 Voodoo. I've got a plastic model kit sitting around, but I have little clue how to turn that into a 3d model that's not totally rubbish Cheers, TeTeT
  4. Currently we're putting together the release 0.4.0 of Vietnam War Vessels. We're adding two more assets at least, a MiG-17F and a PBR MkII Patrol Boat. Kudos to @Hawkeye60 and @Eight Ball for the donations! We're hoping to add distance lods and rough met secondary textures to these before release. Cheers, TeTeT
  5. Have you taken a look at dcs.log (DCS\logs\dcs.log)? Maybe this contains a trace why the mod won't be available. Good luck, TeTeT
  6. Hi Beldin, feel free to use https://github.com/tspindler-cms/DCS-F8 as a source for your version of the F-8FN! It should contain the latest updates for the liveries by @seabat regularly. It's the development build and hopefully moving forward faster than the Vietnam War Vessels build. Cheers, TeTeT
  7. Check the Vietnam War Vessels thread On the parking of the planes reversing direction, we worked around this by inverting the final speed vector in the parking table. Cheers, TeTeT
  8. Fully agreed. In theory I'm waiting for a M35 2 1/2 ton for Vietnam War Vessels mod, but then this has been the state for 1.5 years now... so don't expect any sudden moves. Cheers, TeTeT
  9. So for me Canopy open/close does not work either, but <rctrl-p> folds and unfolds the wings. We're looking into the canopy problem. Cheers, TeTeT
  10. Can you provide some additional context? Did you try this as a player and neither the canopy opened/closed and the wings did not fold? Or did you watch the AI and they failed to do either?
  11. I'm not aware, but is there an MP mission where it's easy to just add the mod pack to?
  12. Update for the Vietnam War Vessels pack. Livery updates and additions for the F-8 Crusader, folder changes to CVA-31 scripts, improved LSO position on the Bon Homme Richard, and addition of a roughMet texture to the P 4 Torpedo Boat. Changelog: F-8 Crusader - Add and update liveries by seabat to crusader (US) and crusader_np (French) - Philippines Air Force - VF-111 - VF-162 - VF-51 - VF-53 - VFP-206 Recon - VMF-235 - VMF-312 - VMF-321 - VMF-333 - FLT-12 - FLT-14 - Add experimental roughMet to texture set - Add more Sidewinder variants - Integrate pilot into model, remove pylon 7 pilot - Update ME screens - Inverse front wheel turn - Increase frontwheel turn ability CVA-31 Bon Homme Richard - Change LSO position - Add EssexRunwaysAndRoutes.lua to Database folder, to not confuse MOOSE - Update ME screens P 4 Torpedo Boat - Add roughMet to texture set Available from https://github.com/tspindler-cms/tetet-vwv/releases Enjoy, TeTeT
  13. Unfortunately not right now. We do have an experimental livery for VFP-206 though, but the model is the same as the armed fighter for now:
  14. Hi, before we release Vietnam War Vessels 0.3.1, here an apetizer of the Liveries work done by @seabat . Some Marines F-8 liveries: Enjoy, TeTeT
  15. Sounds like an interesting project, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fleet_Rehabilitation_and_Modernization is a nice source for info on it. Currently I'm still struggling to find the time to re-work the bridge of the Maddox to a Vietnam era bridge. So a complete FRAM destroyer is currently not on the horizon. On donations, luckily my salary pays for my hobbies. So if you like the mod, feel free to donate to https://bluedragon.org instead, they support Vietnamese people and help to protect them from Human Trafficking, especially the kids. Cheers, TeTeT
  16. Currently no such plans, we're about to push out 0.3.1 after some testing is done on the weekend. For 0.4.0 we already want to include some additional boats. But the Corsair is a nice plane, so I wouldn't say never! Cheers, TeTeT
  17. Update video for 0.3.0: The team is busy working on 0.3.1 to bring some needed improvements to the mod. We hope for a soonish release, within two weeks (tm) Cheers, TeTeT
  18. They are included in version 0.3.0 of this mod, see the first post for download link: https://github.com/tspindler-cms/tetet-vwv/releases
  19. Hi UN9249, thanks for checking out the mod! The starting positions need a check-up then, I only placed planes in a way that it works so far. Which options of runway/ramp/parking hot did you use to achieve the blocked take-off slots? On the rotations, are you on DCS 2.8 or 2.9? There seems to be a substantial difference if a plane will rotate 180 degree after the last parking spot is reached. Also in our testing at times the parking positions were reached in ... interesting ways. Cheers, TeTeT
  20. Some pictures from Sidekick65, a youtuber with a bunch of DCS content, focusing on Iron Bombing: https://www.youtube.com/@Sidekick65 If you enjoy the A-4 you will find a load of content on his channel. Not sure about the scale, I admit I haven't measured the 3d model. But it benefitted from moving the cat forward, just like for the VSN F-4 and F-14.
  21. Vietnam War Vessels 0.3.0 is out: Thanks to the team for adding the F-8 primarily as an AI and static plane to the pack! While it can be flown as player, it's hardly tested and not very functional at the moment. Check the Limitations section in the README, listed here as well: Known Limitations ================= CVA-31 Bon Homme Richard - Player controlled helicopters slightly move forward on the flight deck F-8 Crusader - Aircraft is intended as static and for limited AI operations - Player control is experimental at best, but largely untested and unsupported - Carrier launch operations are not supported for player aircraft, only AI - Unknown how to drop bombs as player aircraft - Variable incidence wing is not enabled Excerpt from the Changelog since the last update: 2023-01-10 F-8 Crusader - Add no wing pylon version for French Navy - Various config fixes - New liveries by seabat - Model updates by Hawkeye60 Maddox - Add wake, thanks to toan 2023-12-30 F-8 Crusader - Initial release Maddox - Fix connects and sensor height Bon Homme Richard - Add wake, thanks to toan - Raise landing points to 17.2 meters - Use new parking positions by seabat 2023-12-26 - Prefix all mods directories with vwv Bon Homme Richard - Make damage args consecutive for DM table - Add Zabbie as tester to README - Change cat position slightly - Change height of cat connectors - Update screens with those from Sidekick65 The team is: @Hawkeye60 @seabat @toan @Citizen @TeTeT Enjoy the release, TeTeT
  22. I try: There's a script that contains the code for the parking positions, for the Bon Homme Richard it's called EssexRunwaysAndRoutes.lua. Inside the file the parking positions are defined as sequence of positions combined with a speed vector: {{ 120.000, 16.95, -2 }, 4.0} the first three digit inside the curly braces are the position in relation to the carrier. The fourth number (4.0) is the speed to go to this position. Negative numbers mean the plane travels backwards. In this case, we changed -4 to +4, so instead of rolling backward into the parking position, the plane moves forward and ends facing outboard with the nose. Then the new 2.9 mechanism will take care of reversing the planes direction.
  23. Memories of Pacific Air War come back
  24. We experienced the same difference between 2.8 and 2.9 when developing parking spots for CVA-31 Bon Homme Richard. Not sure if this 180 degree reversal is for the better or not? We just swapped the speed (-4 for +4) to work around this behaviour. Cheers, TeTeT
  25. Meantime we're busy getting the F-8 Crusader into the pack. It will be a low-fi version with a SFM and not really carrier operations suitable, but for the AI. If you know how to get the carrier ops going for a SFM plane, please reach out! Hawkeye60 and seabat have delivered model and liveries in abundance for the F-8. Citizen has reworked the AA effects of the Maddox armament. Sidekick has provided screenshots for the loading et al screens. seabat has delivered new parking positions and fixed the AI landing of CVA-31! Toan sent new wake effects for both Bonnie Dick and Maddox. Stay tuned for an update, hopefully next week! Cheers, TeTeT
