  1. I bought my last PC through them and have had no problems. They stated 30 days for the delivery from order, but it arrived in about 10. Their communication isn't great though, most of the support you get is through other people on their forums. There is no doubt their prices are very competative, however I wouldn't expect A1 support. Everything comes at a price.
  2. I don't normally spend much time watching A-10 vids but thought I would have a look while I was waiting for something to install. That vid was fricken awesome. Probably the best DCS montage I have seen and very original. Nice work!
  3. In your thumbnail you have TARS on standby. You need to uncheck the standby box when you click on the DCS:World icon. When in standby mode TARS does not function at all. You are probably just hearing him on normal TS.
  4. My guess would be RF-5 Tigereye or similar variant.
  5. Looks like it will be a quality product, nice work and best of luck.
  6. If the AEF server is running "The Playground" mission then this would suit. It is essentially a mission with all the different aircraft and a bunch of training ranges to practice on.
  7. I think everyone would want a DCS:F15, it's just at what expense that's the problem. If its delays f-18 or a new map, then no for me.
  8. True, but that only works if the whole prop is subsonic. If any part of the prop goes supersonic it drastically reduces it's efficiency and of course the tips travel the fastest. So if the centre of the prop is subsonic and the outer is supersonic the centre of the prop will be creating more thrust than the outer. As you can imagine this will drastically reduce efficiency and for this reason props are normally designed so the whole blade will operate below the speed of sound. That is what I was taught anyway, I've been wrong plenty of times before :) No sure what you mean by this. I dont think anyone is suggesting the air is supersonic?
  9. I would also hazard a guess that blade style would impact the chances of these being visible. A herc has a square blade tip for short field work which will probably make these more pronounced, while a p-3 (which has the same engines) has a rounded tip for higher cruise speeds and would probably have less pronounced vortices. Although I have seen this effect on both aircraft types....
  10. Prop tips don't go supersonic, that would create a massive thrust differential and is therefore one of the limiting factors in prop RPM and blade length. I'm not 100% sure what causes this but I would imagine it is the same concept as wing tip votices, ie high pressure differential at high blade angles (ie take off). As the aircraft accelerates the blade angle will reduce and the pressure differential decreases, therefore it will be most pronounced when the engine is demanding the most additional thrust out of the prop. Humidity obviously has an effect on making the vortices visible as water is condensed. This effect certainly isn't common, but doing things like the air show max effort takeoffs (where pilots will have max power set on the brakes prior to rolling) with high humidity will be your best chance of seeing it.
  11. Was there cloud cover? There was (is?) a bug in older versions where you could zoom in on the pod and all of a sudden you would be able to see through the cloud. Almost like zoom had been modeled by actually physically changing the elevation of the camera. But yes, concur with Rongor, time to update your version to DCS World.

    CA 1.5?

Yep, I have had it since release as well. However with the current limitations of what a game master can do, I personally haven't felt its lived up to it's capability. Copy re radar features.
  13. So Wags has dropped this bomb, but I can't find any info about it. Has there been any indication to what CA 1.5 will be? I am quite excited about this! CA has so much potential to mitigate the lack of dynamic campaign/limited replayability in multiplayer, which I believe is the biggest shortfall of DCS World. CA with a 'game master' that can control the entire war without the current limitations we have at the moment would be fantastic. Add TARS and some solid stability to the mix, and I think we would be in DCS multiplayer Nirvana.
  14. So that's where those little flaps with the slot go! :) Sorry, a bit off topic. But the bit at the back of the seat on the right side. What is that for? Is it to support cables/keyboard? It has been sitting on the floor of my garage, and I wasn't sure where to put it.
  15. Yep, the only time you would be able to use something like that is if the station was a VORTAC. This is essentially a co-located VOR and TACAN and often used on civi/mil shared airfields. This is possibly what is actually modelled in Superbug. You will notice that many military aircraft dont actually have a DME reciever, and it is for this reason. When flying an ILS in many military aircraft you will tune the DME using the TACAN, and have the ILS freq in the ILS/VOR box.
  16. This would be an awesome mod if cued by setting a radio frequency in game, ie simulating an ATIS.
  17. Yeah, was interested, but took one look in the steam forum and decided against it...
  18. LOL, sure sounds like it! Awesome.
  19. Awesome LOL @ "OMG Brand" MGM Grand
  20. Agree, it should be available as part of world. Comms are the only reason I use a keyboard, so it would nice to be keyboard free, especially with the rift inbound...
  21. Dangerous waters is 4 bucks on steam atm
  22. Thanks mate, not a problem
  23. Thanks mate
  24. I have 4 gig and DCS has been running very poorly since 1.2.5 for me. I suspect this is the problem. Not only that, when I exit DCS after it has crashed, my computer is almost at a standstill until I reset it (shutdown takes about 2-3 mins alone).
  25. It's individual mate. Anyone can put whatever they want in there. There is no requirement to have all FC3 aircraft on all the same freqs (that would defeat the purpose of TARS somewhat :) )
