jskibo replied to BaronVonVaderham's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Just did a new build with a 4090 and an EK 360 AIO (top mount) in a Lian Li Lan Cool III. Lots of room and pretty tidy management in the back -

I have three Cubesim displays with cougar MFDs for sale with cables and power supplies. Running all three off a higher wattage supply with splitters now. Full disclosure as I have posted in this and other forums the cables can be finicky and it you move them around or jiggle them they sometimes disconnect and reconnect. Once mounted with cables tied up I didn't have issues. I also have a fourth cougar MFD I'll include as a spare. The ICP and Streamdeck pictured are not part of the sale. Nor is the piece of 8020 but the ball mounts for the Cubesim are included. Looking for $300 plus actual shipping.

I have been running an Intel 10700K, 64GB DDR4, RTX3090 setup for a couple years now. While I have a Reverb G2, I prefer to fly triple screen as I have a lot of hardware and just enjoy not having that mask on plus the larger peripheral view I get. I'll use the VR more in IL2. I bounce between triple 4K and Triple 1440. While 4K was kind of flyable in SP with the 10700K / 3090 it wasn't the best FPS, mostly high 20's - low 30's. I decided to bite the bullet and upgrade again. Now I'm running an AMD 7800X3D on an Asrock B650 board with 64GB of DDR5. I ran some tests using the F/A-18 and the Apache in various maps (Syria, Marianas and Caucasus). The tests were run using the 7800X3D and using both the 3090 and the 4090. All were run at 7860 x 1440. I may try to run some in triple 4K as well as in the Reverb G2 soon in case I sell off the other 3090 I have if it would be useful for anyone. I have the in game FPS counter up on the center monitor. It may be a little hard to read on a mobile devicee, but I talk through the numbers I am seeing. TLDR: 4090 upgrade well worth it, going from 10700K to 7800X3D also a nice jump

I've run 3 70" 4k on a 10700k / 3090 for awhile now, though I don't fly much MP. Not everything is turned up but it runs decent. Running 2k vs 4k would be less of a strain, but i prefer running at the native monitor / TV res Just ordered parts for a 7800X3D / 4090 build to replace it.

CUBESIM Easy Panel EP3U for DCS World
jskibo replied to oscarnobel's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Falsely? The only thing false is your promise of a quality product and a timely delivery. There's a whole megathread here on DCS discussing all your issues and it constantly stays near the top I'm not looking for any service from you, you've already proven you lack any integrity. I'm just warning others of your shady practices and horrible quality -

......but for anyone that bought their junk from "COVID-19" supply chain issues sorry you're screwed. Real trustworthy. Not to mention it's priced far above competing products. -

The poor quality was from day 1 after waiting months for the product to ship including false shipping notifications. Search Cubesim across reddit and any flight sim forum and you'll find plenty of their shady history. The poor quality speaks for itself but if that's not enough, they know their screens had issues and acknowledge it in their sales page for their screen product "The second generation product had replaced the LCD panel with better quality, added the main power switch, replaced the large USB port to prevent plug failure" Yet they continue to defend shipping shady quality product to customers. They stand behind nothing. Their suggestion to fix is to glue the USB plug to the panel....WTF? -
CubeSim - Protection of Money - Just a 'Heads up'
jskibo replied to Toni Carrera's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Pretty poor quality connectors on Cubesim screens, any touch or the cable causes a disconnect which renders DCS useless until reboot as all screen positions change. Sad that cubesim knew about this, even changing screens in the latest version, but offer zero support except "hey how about 5% off if you buy all new screens" Living with this junk for the last year, no resolution https://photos.app.goo.gl/qEtzwTfdcLtiGiJ46 -

Twice the cost of Winwing version and given the poor quality of the Cubesim displays (constant disconnects from bad USB connectors), I would avoid their junk. Why pay more for poor quality and customer service https://photos.app.goo.gl/qEtzwTfdcLtiGiJ46 -
Never use those hat clips. Have the battery powered LED thing. The TIR camera knockoff works just fine.

Bought one like those after my TIR5 died. No issues last 18 months.

USS Kitty Hawk (CV-63) towed to shipbreaking yard
jskibo replied to Rudel_chw's topic in Military and Aviation
I imagine it will be awhile. Next port is Panama for fuel and crew swap they said. Seem to only stay a couple days in anchor at ports. Quite a few vets rented boats and planes to get pictures when it was at Long Beach (last stop). Been showing a 6kt speed under tow most days. After Panama the tracker will show its next expected port. -

Sad indeed, my old ship. We hit Valparaiso back in 1991 when we came out of SLEP in Philly and departed Norfolk to transit to San Diego. Best cruise I ever had with stops in St. Thomas, Mar Del Plata and Valparaiso. Transiting the Straits of Magellan was pretty rough with some waves breaking over the bow and everything that could fit in the hangar bay was put there, those remaining on deck all got double TD1 chains. Can't imagine doing that passage under tug power. You can track its location. Its being towed by the tug Michelle Foss. Currently off Baja California https://www.marinetraffic.com/en/ais/home/shipid:3373363/zoom:9 I might go see her pull into Brownsville to say goodbye -
Looking for flight training and a mellow squadron
jskibo replied to Heyjax's topic in New User Briefing Room
Hoss, Which Boeing site? I started at McDonnell-Douglas in STL (ILS on Super Hornet and Harpoon SLAM, Retrofit Engineering on Hornet / SuperHornet), then off to Wichita (C40 / 767 Tanker), Philly (FCS), Oklahoma City (Ran Saudi MX AWACS, F15) and Finally Long Beach (C17 GSP). Left in 2010 and been with GE since. Former Navy Airframer (NAS Whidbey / USS Kitty Hawk AIMD / SEAOPDET). CMEL / CSEL / ASES but don't really fly IRL anymore Same situation as the others, 55 and trying to get slightly better than the average QF4 drone. Partial to the Hornet but have most of the modules and theaters, though as soon as the flyable A6 drops I will be all over it. Hope to find a group I can fly with that can help with training. Still working on my pit which seems to change every month...... -
My Kitty Hawk is being towed to Brownsville, would love to see that in the game

Thanks for the Reverb deal and quick shipping

Its actually no different than you get by swapping the facemask on either model, the V2 just lets you do it without going printed or aftermarket.
