I loved that mission! Going in under the cover of darkness, blowing up the house and then track down the fleeing car. The pursuit was really cool, first I lost them and started scanning the traffic on the road. Eventually I tracked the car down but my lock system wasn't working so fired one big salvo with the cannon all around the car and in front of it. Torched it within seconds. I would love to see more missions like that, supporting spec ops under the cover of darkness, eliminiting high targets, stuff like that :joystick:

Could you explain what the How-To missions are exactly? Are they tutorials or training missions for beginners? Or something else? Sorry if I missed it, but I couldn't find any extra info on them in the first post.

Some More Background Info on the Georgian Campaign?
manne replied to Taki1980's topic in User Created Missions General
I agree with Taki1980. I'm now in the last mission of the Deployment campaign and till now I have the idea that some extra background info, maybe a fictional newspaper, or some story about the bigger picture, would've been nice :) Sure there is some background info and the briefings are pretty detailed about objectives, but I don't get the feeling that I'm playing an over-arching evolving story. Probably not the biggest wish on the list for a Simulation, but it would've been nice. That's all. -
...when you patiently wait till your car is magically repaired every time you turn off the engine.

Only score I know is the logbook (in main menu), but I don't think he's talking about that score?

Would be sweet though! :D

Joystick Sensitivity in general - compared to ka-50 "Realism"
manne replied to RealDCSpilot's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
I use the Logitech Xtreme 3D Pro and have my x-axis and y-axis at 50% sensitivity with 5% deadzone. Problem is that I don't know if I'm "cheating" because the real BS has or more sensitivity or not... Flying works really well with above settings but not sure if it resembles the real deal... -
Awesome isn't it?! :D I recently started the Deployment campaign also as a beginner and I have sooo much fun. It's really rewarding, after all the practice and learning the basics, to finally get out there bringing carnage upon your enemies. :joystick:

I see, usually I turn on the laser before leaving the base. Didn't knew that could hurt! I thought the range was 8km, must have misread the manual. I'll look into the auto/manual switch, I must say I completely forgot there was also a manual setting

Occasionally I don't get clearance ("C") for launching Vikrs or rockets even though everything is working properly as far as I know (playing deployment campaign). Yesterday I had it again, I did not get any clearance for launching Vikrs on a range of 7.7. When I got in closer to about 5.5 I suddenly was able to launch them. When I was out of Vikrs I went to my rockets, but somehow I was never able to launch a single one of them (cannon not selected). I had this happen to me before during the shooting range mission. All weapon systems are up, laser is on, master arm is on, vikrs are selected, target is locked on shkval, 2 hud circles are on top of each other but no clearance to shoot. Same with rockets. In the past 11 missions I had no problem employing weapons. Any thing I could look for if this happens another time? Because it's a real pain not able to launch the wonderful ammo under your wings!

I always love these topics which I come across on many different game forums. I think BS deservers one. I'm not very good at them but I'll try to start :) You've played too much Black Shark when... - you call your wife Betty - you refer to your best friends as Wingman - you return your GPS system because it's unable to find any Target Points

Joystick config (black shark)?
manne replied to wolf_288's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
You can simply launch the game like you would without the profiler (in example: the shortcut on your desktop or in the start menu), as long as the profiler knows your current profile needs to be used with DCS.exe At least that's how I use it, and till now that works correctly. -
I was doing the first campaign mission in which you get a tour around the region in order to familiarise yourself in the area. Somehow after about 30 minutes my helicopter suddenly breaks down, I think my rotors crashed or were thrown from the helicopter. I really have no clue why this happend all of a sudden, I really don't. The only thing I can think of is that during the whole flight I got the IAS warning 3 times. Every time I immediately slowed down asap. That might have put too much strain on the system, I don't know if that's possible. It didn't happen during the crash though. I hope someone with some better knowledge of the KA is willing to have a quick look at the crash? I really would like to know what I did wrong in order to prevent this happening again in the future. crash_campaign.trk

Interesting! In my digital manual it's page 6-94 btw. But it seems that the right setting is automatically selected, so that's one thing less to worry about :)

I have been thinking about this today and the question that eventually popped into my mind was: why use auto-hover if you are already in a perfect stable hover? If this stable hover is already correcting for wind etc. because it's stable, what is the use of auto-hover?

Target reticule still moving after target destroyed
manne replied to Doc. Caliban's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
:shocking: I need to re-read the manual on the Shkval again. Or do you mean auto targeting mode as in horizontal scan mode? -
Sounds really nice! Awesome idea!
-
Nice, I had some problems with this too, sometimes the KA starts to slowly spin left or right, so maybe the manual stable hover was not 100% stable. Thanks for the explanation AlphaOneSix.
-
Actually, YES!
-
It's also something I noticed. It would be nice when the first rocket hits they are triggered to start walking/running. I haven't looked into triggers enough yet though.
-
Ahh, thanks. I'll try that out

I could find any relevant thread using search, please bear with me if I missed something. When I'm using the ABRIS and want to select a particular waypoints I keep losing all the other waypoints in the system as soon as I set is as my "active"? waypoint. What I do is in the NAV mode I select SEARCH, WPT, select a waypoint number (3 for example) and select TO. Now the ABRIS is set to waypoint 3 but all other waypoints are erased from the system. Same happens if I do it via the FPL option, select a waypoint from the list and select TO. When I check the FPL again all other waypoint have vanished. What am I doing wrong? Am I using the system incorrectly? Is there a way to select a waypoint ahead without removing the whole flightplan?

Turning down the water to medium seems to have worked :) That's the only setting on medium now and I have about 35 fps. I did test it in a different mission though, but I think it will also be in the mission I tested for my initial fps. :)
-
Ah, I must have missed that one :) I'll try it out with medium water, thanks for the suggestion

Well I got some better performance now with settings: visible range > medium shadows > all planar rest > high and updated to 1.0.1b and using DCSMAX 1.7 About ~25fps
