SvSmokey thanks for the prompt reply, are you saying that I could add a geaforce 1060 card to the existing system? And the 8 gig of ram. That would be incredible to keep me going in the short term. Pardon my ignorance does such a card require its own power supply and lastly is it reasonably easy to fit? Thanks again Ian

Ah well, bit the bullet and bought f18c and the Persian gulf so that plus the mirage, us 33, spitfire, mustang and Hawk should keep me busy for the next decade. My five year old tired pc has given up and just crashes to desktop repeatedly now even with graphics at low. My question to the community I’ve been with for as long as the Warthog arrived is... Do I buy a better graphics card or is the CPU not up to it and instead buy a new box which I can’t afford right now and can’t afford to fly real world either as my flight school shut up shop. Spec is Intel core i5-3570k CPU @ 3.40GHz 8 GB RAM Windows 7 Geoforce GTX 670 Warthog hotas, trackIR, saitek combat pedals I know, you’re all laughing And falling off of your seats Can’t afford it now but would love your thoughts and suggestions on the rig I need Thanks Ian

Thanks for that link greatly appreciated! My wife won’t sanction the gulf map or the hornet until the winter. She knows I wouldn’t leave the house!

2.5 is awsome, thanks for delivering ED, now its straits of Hormuz and the Hornet !! - anyone having issues with trackir with 2.5? I'm flying along when suddenly my forward view flips up and to the side, bit disconcerting in combat and on finals. Also was the mach loop mission with the Hawk an add on as it seems to have gone but of course I cant remember whether I downloaded it from somewhere else. After so many years of single missions Im going to try again to see if I can finally get to fly online with someone. Have the headphones, microphone but dont seem able to get teamspeak working. Wish there was a step by step guide to a numpty like me !!

look at the quality of the study sims, flying endless circuits and touch and goes at batumi in the A-10 helped me get my real world pilot license and that cost about £9,000 pounds, not dollars! i still havent mastered or even fired off some of the weapons. i bought the huey and mustang just to support the sim. i bought the mirage but have hardly touched it. 2.5 scenery is about to come out and we can start all over again with the Hornet. Hours and hours of quality experience as close as the vast majority of us will ever get to the fast jet world. I cant wait and the pre release price for me is easily worth the quality we are going to get. Well done ED in keeping flight simulation up there. you have ny unwavering support even if the waits are sometimes frustrating. Now how to convince my wife....

Photo realistic Scotland, then I wouldnt have to fly FSX ever again for my real world practice :-) oh and a wee GA prop, Cessna 172,152 or even a Europa as they’re what I fly. Not a big ask ha ha . Love this sim, Nevada looks great 2.2. Looking forward to buzzing the Burj in the Hornet though. New map and new plane, how am I going to slip that past my wife! Come on 2.5 !!!

Am I crazy? Is the A-10C learning curve too steep for first plane?
bigian replied to Burgo38's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
I would stick with the A10C back in the day we didnt have a choice although I do enjoy the Hawk. I was doing my real world pilot training so it was really nice to take a break from flying a cessna 172 in FSX to jumping into the hog, doing the start up from memory taxi out and do countless circuits of Bantumi. I eventually learned how to fire off mavericks without having to do live pause. I never learnt how to shut down after landing and many of the other systems such as laser guided bombs etc. but I will one day. I wish they would do a single prop trainer like the tucano or even a steam driven cessna - Id probably stop flying FSX all together. I feel DCS was as instrumental as FSX in getting me my pilots licence. Warthog HOTAS, rudder pedals and Track IR all helped make it real ! -

Great list of planes on VEAO and their Hawk is superb !!!! I would add the F4 Phantom, would love to fly it in DCS !!!

Remarky have you played multiplayer yet? Ive been flying this sim for 5 years and have never figured how to go online and fly with other humans - Ive even got a microphone to do the team speak stuff but haven't a clue. If you have let me know step by step how you did it. Enjoy your flying, countless circuits around bantumi helped me get my real world pilots license so I'm very fond of both DCS and the old Hog !

nice what a superb forum

Thanks guys, Really appreciate the help I'll see what my problems re team speak are tomorrow and go from there I'll also approach the 104th once that's done Thanks again Ian

Hi folks I've been flying the hog since the beta days I love this sim - bantumi circuits helped me get my real world licence I have never once flown with a real person on multiplayer I have headphones, mic, warthog HOTAS combat pedals etc Is there a basic guideline I could follow to finally fly multiplayer? I can't get team speak to work and don't know what to do at the server login screen I'd really appreciate some help Cheers Ian

No apologies necessary It's an incredible sim, so much more realistic than FSX but a study sim for sure, I've been flying about on my own for many years with no idea how to use team speak or join a server and fly with someone else. I've even manged to get my real world pilot license during that time ! So I'm a long term newbie I suppose, that's probably worse than a newbie in the eyes of people on here!

Default As others have said You need to press and hold ctrl while adjusting the trim - default is for the joystick hat to operate as a POV control but by pressing ctrl it adjusts trim. You need to search the forum or google that sort of questions or someone will flame you or shout RTFM I know I've been there Cheers Ian

youre quite right, I was obviously misreading it and thought it very generous that beta purchasers were getting Nevada free which I did and love as well as campaigns ! now how to sneak another purchase past me wife :-) cheers Don ian
-
hi folks, when I log on into eshop im not getting the get free option, just buy is my choice - I purchased the beta a10 back in the day and got the Nevada map free without a problem. anyone else in this position or able to advise me ? cheers ian

I think it's a very reasonable question to put to their customer base if in fact they've asked rather than one of us. Ages ago they mentioned the tuc which I thought was amazing news, we could fly that work up to the hawk then eventually a tornado or the typhoon. The RAF talk of binning the tuc put that on hold but I for one would love them to develop a Tucano - I've managed to get my real world pilots licence thanks in some part to flying lazy circuits around bantumi in the hog when FSX became too much for me, it was a great release and felt so much more realistic and now with the new engine and Nevada terrain it's even better! So solid yes from me either model and please please finish the hawk

[IN TESTING] NTTR 2.0 Campaign Download?
bigian replied to bcradio's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
campaign for World 2.0 have I missed a thread on when to expect the campaign to be released and pricing similar to other campaigns? Will be fantastic to populate this incredible new scenery with aircraft get mission building folks :-) thanks again ED -
Ohhhhh it's here and my god it's incredible, bizarre that the first thing I should notice is the sound. Runway noise on take off roll and airspeed noise if your in a dive subtle but outstanding, the graphics engine and scenery is almost real world. I got my real world pilots licence waiting on this, circuit after circuit of bantumi and now this to go and explore. It's like getting a brand new sim for nothing just because I supported what looked like an interesting flight sim development all those years ago. Thanks ED you guys have taken a lot of stick over this, I'm as guilty as the rest for taking out my frustration on you. Sit back and relax, you have created something truly special here. Oh and the load up time is a fraction off what it used to be - outstanding! Core i5 3570K GeForce GTX 670 TrackIr 5 Saitek combat rudder pedals Thrust master HOTAS warthog

Nice post, enjoyed reading that and really look forward to the new map. Missed it when they removed it from the early betas. DCS helped me get my real world pilots licence and as a mediocre combat pilot it looks like I'll really enjoy the coming months!

thanks Nirvi and Art-J that's me in now, waiting on modules now to try it out - the visuals are stunning !!!!!!!!
