  1. Adding an additional bit of detail to the explanation of binding an axis: After choosing the category "Axis Commands" and identifying the Thrust/Throttle line and the column for your input device, and double-clicking on that to open the window to choose your binding, I find I always have to move my throttle/rotary/slider/whatever all the way to the end of its range (sometimes both ends) before DCS detects and applies it. Hope this helps!
  2. Is there any effect if you cycle LAlt-Enter? I think that's the key combo for fullscreen/windowed fullscreen. I can try to dig up related posts about it if needed. If that doesn't work, you'll need someone much smarter than me to help.
  3. I do see this happening as the OP describes. And even with IRMV selected, slewing the mav view slews the TPOD view simultaneously. I agree that the only way I've found to 'break lock' without boresighting is to slew away long enough, and then back. Instead, when this happens I turn off dry, extend, and then line up again (without ever changing the TPOD). Preferably from a better angle. Then uncage mav, confirm good lock, and rifle.
  4. Acknowledging that our DCS N/A Harrier simulation is already a bit of a 'smear' rather than a snapshot in time, I still want to ask the question: Is this mission-planning / mission data display modeling systems and functions present on the Harrier circa 2007 (or whenever), or added more recently? Software upgrades, or more substantial changes? Curious, and I greatly appreciate the input from knowledgeable sources here!
  5. I'm not sure and I'm no expert, but I thought it is supposed to display all waypoints on EHSD, not just the currently selected one. But maybe someone knows for sure.
  6. BIGNEWY, That does make sense and I can imagine a commander's frustration if friendly infantry kept getting killed. Is it possible to consider enabling the collision for dissimilar coalitions? Kind of 'best of both'? Or am I proposing making nobody happy...
  7. Track files for MP sessions are automatically saved. Default location is: C: > Users > (user name) > Saved Games > DCS(.openbeta) > Tracks > Multiplayer If you play online a lot, this will quickly consume a huge amount of HD space!
  8. Depending on what you mean, you can: - Save Track after mission, even without first clicking Watch Track; or - Use some video-capture program while playing, like OBS or similar If you are flying multiplayer, the track file is automatically saved, in your User/Saved Games/DCS/Tracks (may not be exact path, working from memory here) You can replay the track file (whatever.trk) at any time afterwards, and switch to outside camera views, take control midway, etc. Hope this helps.
  9. For what it's worth, I heartily second (fourth?!) this request.
  10. Can you post a screenshot showing what you mean? I fly all the time in SP and MP, and use the HUD FLIR, TPOD, and IRMAVs. Are you in VR or flat screen?
  11. This is a great idea and I fully support the request! If implemented directly within DCS, it could be configured as a user option AND controlled in the ME just like (external views, easy comms, SATNAV, F10 map, labels, etc etc). Would be very useful for learning and training (I needed Helios in the Huey at first to read gauges without losing my horizon), but like the OP said I find Helios cumbersome and performance hit. But this would also be a way to address realism/purist concerns. Great suggestion DratsaB!
  12. 2 possible things to check: 1) does changing the scale give you a map? i.e. cycle through 100/25/13/5 2) does cycling the INS knob between IFA / NAV have any effect
  13. For a Twin Huey or Venom? Absolutely. For a reskin/refresh only? That would not be in line with the pattern we're seeing from ED for the Ka-50 and A-10C So i'm posting this instead of replying to the poll...
  14. That has been my typical usage as well. Rearm/refuel works anywhere on the "green", and as legearre said there's room for a rolling vertical takeoff. As always, using what we have and wishing for more!
  15. For the process of entering F10 map marks and "uploading" to the MFD CAS page: and Function seems intended for upcoming JDAM, but is working (at least in Beta) currently.
  16. Harrier pilot Michael Franzak briefly describes flying a helo escort mission in Afghanistan in his book A Nightmare's Prayer. I seem to recall that the primary task was rapid response availability to deal with ground threats, orbiting over/ahead of the route. Not much detail, but something.
  17. I would buy a CH-47 Chinook before others, because of the tandem rotor design. I think this would be a unique pilot experience in DCS. I agree with comments about improving infantry/AI to get the most out of it. Suppose a CH-46 would check the same box; seems like Chinooks used by more countries/services and produced in greater numbers, while Sea Knight was primarily USMC. Still, amphib ops, Tarawa etc...
  18. To the OP - I was playing a couple days ago, and on my first cold start in the A-10C is used the Auto-start function. It ran through the normal sequence including having the throttles visibly move to the idle position, but the engines did not actually start. The auto-start sequence proceeded through all the subsequent steps, but a bunch of Master Cautions etc continued because of the mismatch. I assumed I had done something wrong, like bumping a switch or moving the throttle at the "wrong" time. So I ran the Auto-shutdown sequence and let it complete. Waited a minute. Then ran Auto-Start again. This time, the left engine failed to start but the right engine spooled. So I quit out, and reloaded into the mission. Auto-start worked properly that time, with no issue at all. So, I have nothing useful to add here except, maybe, "you're not crazy". Good luck.
  19. Appreciate the idea of a casual drop-in / drop-out DCS hangout. It's all I can fit in this life. Just sent a PM, unable to confirm it went through. East Coast US; I favor the Huey and Harrier Looking forward to jumping in
