Personally I found the startup procedure in the manual really confusing. People's startup checklists and the training missions really helped me.

Hey everyone. After several months of planning, working out the storyline and mission structure I'm finally getting around to starting to build my campaign in BlackShark. =) Just some quick background (please note that this campaign does not reflect my actual political views, and I have nothing against Turkey, other than the name makes me hungry). The campaign takes place in an alternate timeline very similar to our own. In the early 1980s however, a coup was staged in Turkey, overthrowing the government. Turkey became a fascist militaristic state. Shortly after the coup, many factories were built, and existing ones quickly began to pump out weapons, tanks, aircraft, ammunition. Seeing an opportunity to crush the communist Soviet Union, the United States immediately began to back Turkey, regardless of the current fascist government. Sending troops to train the new Turkish Army, weapons to help bring their military to modern standards, and fuel to help them fuel their military, the United States quickly began to play a large role in the war to come. Opposite the United States, other NATO forces (Canada, the United Kingdom, France) told the United States that unless it were to pull out of Turkey, sanctions would be placed on trade with the United States, and the U.S. would be kicked out of NATO. The U.S. refused to halt its operations with Turkey. In 1990 NATO, the E.U., Canada, and Mexico halted trade with the United States. In 1992 the Soviet Union fell, leaving many countries in tatters. Turkey saw an opening, and began to pump out even more arms for their new Army. 3 years later in 1995 the world's worst fears came true. Turkey pushed North into Georgia, overrunning Georgian and Russian military forcer staged near the border. The world had not seen such ferocity and speed from a military force since the NAZI blitzkrieg. I plan to make this a long campaign. Possibly 20+ missions. What I wanted to find out, is how important voice-overs are to everyone. I'd rather not put my horrible American accent into a campaign focused around the Russian military and a Russian special-forces helicopter. But at the same time I don't want to detract from the immersion of the campaign forcing the player to have to read all of the radio-chatter between their helicopter and ground forces, controllers, other air-support, etc. If the first iterations of the campaign lacked proper voice-overs would you still play it? What other ideas do you have to relieve this problem? :helpsmilie: Thanks in advance.

Definitely looking forward to COP here in the U.S. Still gotta beat Clear Sky though. Great game. And I'm glad I finally have the computer to run it on full graphics. =D Also, COP, and every STALKER game, is DX8+. ;) That's something I love about GSC, is they make the game to run on both very very low end systems, and the best systems out there.

But when? I don't think there is anyone that isn't dying to see the epic sexiness. vrv: lmao. nice

You are right. The deactivate trigger makes the group disappear. It is not possible to make the group reappear. An easy work around is to make a template out of your group, create a second group in the exact same place with same waypoints etc, and have them activate when you want the first group to "reactivate." This will simulate the "reactivation" you are looking for. Unless they altered the way that the deactivate trigger works.

Yes! Updated ships! Finally!

They will also be under "Paratrooper AKS" (I think it's AKS), and "Paratrooper RPG" ;)

More like the turret turns towards your helo, and suddenly a big flash of light with a puff of smoke and a little itty bitty (at least from how far away it is) projectile flies towards your helo and obliterates it. ;) Oh wait it already does that. =P

Unexplained crash or rotor disintegration
TKMR replied to DaveRindner's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Really? Beause the A-10 isn't that fast... ;) Dave: When you are on the ground before you take off, go to an external view (F4, and rotate the view around so you are facing the rotor assembly) and mess with the controls. Maybe that will help you understand what's going on a bit. Or viewing your track file. =) -
I don't think your option.lua is corrupt. Post a screenshot as Viper said. Also if you only have 1.0.1 try updating to 1.0.1a, and/or running the program as administrator under Vista/7.

Is there an ED IRC channel? Either for Lock On or DCS? If not, is there any want for one? I frequent a few different IRC servers for different things, and wanted to see if there was a channel on QuakeNET but there wasn't. Just curious if anybody else frequents IRC, or if there is a channel for DCS/LockOn on a server.

I've noticed that mine doesn't work properly until my helo is completely started. Also make sure you are turning on the D-Link. Can't remember the proper name of the switches off the top of my head.
-
Are you running it as administrator? If not try that.
-
Probably a good idea. Also, to change it from hot-start to cold-start edit each individual mission file in the Campaign folder VIA the in-game mission editor to "Start on Ramp" instead of "Start on Runway". A couple of the missions it is vital that you start-hot though, or you won't be able to complete the mission, so be careful of that.

Open up the mission in the mission editor and look at the Mission Goals section.

STill need to set GB locals after fresh install
TKMR replied to splashman's topic in Bugs and Problems
Try right clicking on the shortcut, and run as administrator. I noticed I still had the problem even IF I had set it to British locale. I tried running as admin, and it worked perfectly (not sure what made me decide to run it as admin). -
Thank you! Very nice, deffinately going to print this and use it. P= Just noticed that it's missing time compression controls: Shift + Z = Normal Time Ctrl + Z = Increase Time Compression Alt + Z = Decrease Time Compression. :)

Only if you are using an administrator account at all times, which is discouraged for security reasons. Assuming by your post, you are always using an administrator account. I don't think you need to run it in compatibility mode, as the game was made to run on XP/Vista, and compatibility mode will just be redundant and cause problems.

If you have 20 units, have each unit be a different goal, with 5 points each. If all 20 survive = 100% mission success. If 19 survive, 95% Success, etc. Apologies for not being clear in my first post. I didn't mean to have them all in the same goal, but have separate goals for each one. =)

Use him in reconnaisance roll and have him send you D-Link targets too? Don't send him to far. That first mission is a bitch. The front line is like, 500 meters from the airbase. It's crazy. =( I dunno if there are any user campaigns that have been posted yet, but there are a ton of missions that have been posted. You could try those to hone your skills before diving into hell. ^^

Cyclic + Rudders when taxiing, but don't bank the helo to much, or major flop and destruction of rotors will occur. I believe the tutorial said less than 5 degrees bank is safe. ^^ OR just do it the easy way and take off from the parking area... screw ATC... who did they ever help anyways?!

Right, but I thought I had seen an option in BS for that as well? Maybe I'm just smoking something. :D You can do this if you take some screenshots, and then add them in as briefing pictures for a side. (Red Side is usually your side). If you look at some of the campaigns the game shipped with they have these. Hope I understood what you were saying.

Instead of doing Group in Zone, Unit in Zone can be used... You will just have 20 Unit in Zones, instead of 1 group in zone, or 4 groups in zone as nemises suggested.
