Lock On: Flaming Cliffs Distribution Option Polling
bflagg replied to Wags's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
not to switch subject... fighter ops stopped? -
Attila, I know I don't have to tell you, but I found the water and sky fixes by Hawg11 really improved my FPS in the game. They are around, but also at my site if you care to grab 'em.. http://lockon.theflaggs.com My Specs

SARH v ARH Seeker Perofmances ETC
bflagg replied to GGTharos's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
As I was out with the wife for dinner, I began to realize the complexity of send/recieve at this point and "doh'ed" myself with out thinking first before posting..... thank you both.... -
SARH v ARH Seeker Perofmances ETC
bflagg replied to GGTharos's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Guys, I have found this topic quite interesting and thank you both for bringing it to light...(tho I think this will never be realized in LockON) but forgive me for being Naive... I found myself asking this question: If elispe is such a problem, why not have a seperate reciever in the nose? I mean, I would figure that they could programmically remove these partial/incompleted returns and rescan or hold them and build a complete return from multiple partial returns... thus havin the need for a dedicated reciever a moot point.. .. but then.. I could be way off here..... ... just a thought... -

I would stop compression since, XP now has to uncopmpress whenever that file is "touched", then recompress it afterwards... It becomes a performance hit... If you have a small drive this maybe a necessary evil until you can get a larger HD. Here's the skinny from M$ http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;307987 To uncompress that driver/folder.... right click on desired object, choose properties. click advanced (general tab). It should be obvious from there..

Re: help what does this mean You have files that are being automatically compressed by XP.. There is a setting (somewhere) to turn it off.

Lock On: Flaming Cliffs Distribution Option Polling
bflagg replied to Wags's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Tho it makes no difference to me, I can understand this... There is something to be said about having the actual physical media in your hands from the manufacturer, than a burned cd copy... -
Lock On: Flaming Cliffs Distribution Option Polling

This may sound stupid but is it going to be a ISO download, so we can burn to cd ourselves? -
Any interest in more detailed skins?
bflagg replied to D-Scythe's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
If your XP, the chances are NTFS... but if you've already written over the HD, it will be difficult, if not impossible to recover, at best. -
Back on subject. One of the MAIN things I wish the Dev's would put back in the the seperate key assignment for a missle type. this cycle stuff is slow and terrible.... I can immediatly (like the real f15) setup a short range senario with the a keystroke.... ie.. radar on, range -10 mile, Vertical scan mode, aim 7 active... radar off, range -10miles, vertical, aim 9 active... etc... the key is the key assignments need to be allowed for this.. Seperate keys for the ranges 5, 10, 20 , 40, 80, 100 Seperate keys for the missle types / GUNS (guns is setup with a c already) Radar modes are pretty much setup already. except for radar on/off is a toggle and not seperate keystrokes...

Going for the common "g" key is understood, and I also understand for the user without a HOTAS programmable, this can be quite the "pain" if it gets too complex...ie.. all ctl+alt keystrokes are for A-A modes.. All ctl + shift is for A-G modes...etc. this makes me think, how about a editable XML table that a enduser can edit for the their keystroke customization desires ... with of course lomac understanding it....

Aargh... The more I ask about this, the more people I get into trouble for helping. Security... :( From what I've found though, F4 can take such an approach more easily than Lock On, because it models only one aircraft. The F-15 controls are quite different in detail from F-16 (no Dogfight or Missile Override switches), let alone Warthogs, MiGs and Sus. It's challenging to produce a "unified" layout for many different aircraft with the available keyboard controls. Thanks for interest! -SK " Challenging " is a understatement... but given the amount of complexity of each aircrafts controls and avionics, wouldn't be better to have a unique keyboard set for each aircraft? We practically have to self tutor ourselves as it is when trying out a different craft.. (imaging my frustration when for years, simming with US aircraft only, then to give a Mig or a SUE a shot... I have to relearn everything anyways..!) I'm sure this has been hashed out before, but I thought I throw in my two cents...

want mine? (trackIR 3 pro)... I set it so it's NOT too "quick -n- snappy" http://lockon.theflaggs.com/ in the files section at the bottom.

SERIOUS PROBLEM - Control along pitch axis
bflagg replied to Klopsik206's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
I've tried that already - it does not solve the problem  Just a thought, how about pressing "h" key to turn off altitude hold. Try that one ?? (Ctrl T to disable and recenter trim) -

Re: Water Visibilty It's not your fault.. it's another ground moving earthquake...

No.. it was CPU heat itself... Heat blur was off (I think it's useless unless your movie making). Alt-tab out of lockon to windows and back increase your speed because AA is now disable by doing so.. This has been dicussed with feedback by the Dev's and others way smarter than me.

I got it figured out... I was at 1280 x1024 with 6xAA and 16xAF. The problem was NOT the resolution..... My heat sink on my CPU is the stock P4 one. The heat sink (due to my stupidity), had no thermal paste left. It burned off..... So I went down to my local PC overprice parts store and purchased a big ass (and noisey) Heat sink and fan kit by cool master. The temp never went above 40c as to before 48-50c..... The game played smoothly at 20-25fps under this graphic setting afterwards. I moved it down to 1024x768 for the heck of it and my FPS stayed the same (3 fps difference)... I've just moved my AA to 4x and my AF to 4x. will report back in a few.... REPORTING BACK.... NO change.... 20 - 25 fps.... I'm going back to 1280x1024.... BTW can anyone recommend a good water cooling solution that won't break the bank? (CPU / ChipSet /Video Card setup...)

Oh yeah.. no worries here.... so was I

It's kinda of like a row boat effect..... Pull back up to 8k or so and it goes away. Go back down...then it's row row row your boat......

Thanks for letting this one slide....

Thanks. Most I've done already. But the ForceFeedback....I'll check the cfg file when I get home.... thanks
